@tylerwislow9771 it's a medieval fantasy based game/ combat sport called Amtgard. It's played all over the country. Check out amtgard.com or Cometrylarp.com for more info and if there's a park by you.

There are several boffer sports all around, if you're looking for specifically amtgard look for chapters around you on the internet. People usually play at parks. There is also dagorhir and belegarth which are less fantasy focused and more martial combat based

@@evann4391 This sort of thing does exist in Europe, it's just stupidly difficult to find a group because sword people suck at advertising where new people can find them no matter where you live.

What do they use for their shields as far as the core?
Mine is all foam that was heated up and molded into a dome shape. Lily's is a sled dome with 2lb foam on it.

Greetings from an old Emerald Hills member. Looking frame by frame at the hit at 1:57, it looks like the weapon is whipping over the shield, but is still called. I haven't played Amtgard in a long time, is that kind of whip-over something allowed/accepted nowadays? I feel like it could have some pretty significant impact on weapon construction...
Now go to the search bar and type in "Larp in Russia" and watch any of the top videos (the worse the video quality- the more brutal the vid tends to be) and compare that material to what you see here. It's like watching two men do taichi in a park and then turning on UFC and thinking "i dont think the taichi is gonna do much here". But then again... nothing against doing taichi in the park.
The reality is that this game is not trying to be a "Russian" larp. The players aren't looking for that experience. It's more of a fun sporty stick tag game. If players wanted a brutal medieval combat game they would just play buhurt or real steel. It's like comparing apples and oranges.
