I second that the root note on the 3rd cord can be the open D string instead of that awkward shape. Then, you can play the open A on the transition, and you only have to move your ring finger down one fret on the second chord and completely off on the third chord, and everything else can stay the same.
Hey Sir I need some help on Triads I Just started learning the importance of knowing how to use them
Hi, check out a few other videos on my channel that will help - th-cam.com/video/c2IiwT-a4Rg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Hn6OFqAu8so/w-d-xo.html I also touch on triads in other videos as well so check out any videos that take your fancy on the channel! Thanks, Ryan
Interesting comforting great stuff sir
Thank you!
Your tone sounds like Fast Eddie Clarke’s Fastway guitar tone. Which he also uses a humbucker Strat for
Nice
Thanks :)
Maravilloso!!!
Thank you :)
This is the best tutorial for Jimi Hendrix style chord & lick tutorial. I had watched so many videos on TH-cam but this one really straight to the point.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Have a look through my channel, I’ve done quite a few Hendrix rhythm videos now that I think you will like :)
Currently using mine in the effects loop. All allows me to knock the volume back a little without reducing gain. And then I have it going into my reverb and delay, so I can do swells. Most useful placement for the current band I am playing with.
Awesome!
thank you very much, really helped!!
You are welcome:)
Fantastic! Well done and explained
Thanks! I’m glad you liked the video :)
Class
Thanks!
Thank you for the Lesson! Good Stufff Mate! I dig the volume swell!
You are welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video :)
That sounded great 👍🏻
Thanks!
Great video, this is how I play it. Work smarter, not harder. Someone asked if I was playing the real or the "fake" way due to the capo. Well, were the correct notes coming from the guitar? Yes.
Thanks and I love this comment! I’m totally with you, if the notes are correct, then what’s the problem right!?
That last part reminded me Crossroads Steve Vai’s just before Ralph macchio finished him. I thought he used a wah. Then I thot, Floyd rose would give that sound. Never realized it was just a standard whammy bridge smh
Yes indeed! I absolutely love the guitar battle in Crossroads :)
I’ve seen this explained before, but yours drilled down to the basics and made it more accessible to me…Thank-you!
I’m glad that video helped you :)
Nice!
Thanks!
funny how he mentioned kickstart my heart and thats the reason why i want to learn this technique
😃
Thank you for this amazing video. Question: This is passive or active pedal that you are using here in this video? 250k?
Hi! I’m glad you liked the video :) For the video I used a Kemper profiler with a Mission expression pedal but on my other boards I tend to use the Ernie Ball VP JNR, passive, 250k. Each Volume pedal has its pros and cons. I love the taper and the feel of the Ernie balls but when the string breaks it’s a nightmare to repair(unless you pay someone to do it) and they do suck tone. My advice, if you are looking for one, would be to go to your local Music Store and try a few out :)
Probably useful for beginners, but a little constructive feedback. I only sampled the dotted eighth segment. It wasn’t in time, nor were you fretting the chords accurately. I know you’re just getting started, but the production value is probably gonna have to come up to be competitive. Set looks great, your personality and presentation style is engaging. Guitar tone and playing technique need to improve. You may feel I’m being harsh, but I’m honestly not presenting this to be hurtful. This is what I wish someone would tell me if I were in your shoes. If you use the word PRO anywhere in the EG space, viewer expectations will be HIGH😛
Imagine writing this to someone with the CV I’ve got 👍🏻
Very useful thank you
You are welcome! I’m glad the video was helpful :)
Love Your Content, Brother! Minneapolis USA
Thank you!
Wrong. I have JBs in a few of my 80’s Kramers with different letters after the JB. Maricela wound ones are the gold standard! She is now a “ big cheese” in the SD empire!
I have Three of these babies. All original, except that on my flip flop red one, the workhorse, I shaved the neck into a “V” shape. Bare wood necks rock the big one! The other two are collectors items, and remain encased! I just love Kramers! Berardi and Vaccaro never knew what they started!! It is an addiction for sure, but it will not kill you! Nice to know! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can you use the A shaped chords for the 4and 5 and play all strings?
Hi, yes you could use the A shape chord for the 4 and the 5. It would depend on whether you are playing a full barre or rhythm licks. If you are playing chords, as long as the notes you are holding down are in the chord you can play them. If you are playing fills then as they are within the key you are in then you can use the strings :) Does that answer your question ok?
The TH-cam algorithm served this video up and got it right for once. A truly great video with nice clear examples. I have a Matamp R28 with a master volume, but is monumentally loud with the master volume above 2, especially if the gain is up. It sounds glorious but would be nice to have a bit more fine control with the volume. A volume pedal sounds like a great idea and is way cheaper than an attenuator. Would there be any issue with using option 2, except place the volume pedal in the effects loop before the modulation type pedals? I’m guessing this would leave the preamp gain staging unaffected but allow the other benefits of option 2 intact? Thanks again 😀
Hi, I’m glad that you liked the video. That is a great question! To be honest have not tried a volume pedal in an effects loop of an amp apart from when I run a big rack set up years ago. I did a tour where I had a massive rig and tried this option out. It wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped but it could have been the way I had rigged it all. I have always used an attenuator to get the ‘cranked’ sound out of my amps. However, everything is worth a try as you just never know. Also, different amps and volume pedals react differently so you may get exactly what you are looking for out of this options. Deffo worth a go :)
@@FretlixGuitar thanks for the reply. I love the idea of an attenuator, but my bank manger is less keen 😉. I think I’ll give the volume pedal a try and see what happens 🤞
😂 Yep, they are expensive. Please let me know how you get on with the volume pedal.
@@FretlixGuitar I’m also considering a Boss LS-2 in the effects loop. It has 2 loops and a bypass, with both loops having a volume control, so I could have it set up with 2 levels of attenuation plus full bore on the bypass. Need to do some research to make sure they play nicely in the effects loop 🤷♂️. Decisions, decisions 🤔😀
This has been the most helpful video for me. Thank you
I’m glad that the video has helped you :)
Thank you for posting. It would be awesome if you could do more picking style videos. Thanks again!
Thanks for the lesson. I like playing with finger picking on acoustic guitar on songs: House of Rising Sun, Green Field, The End of The World. Cheers from Indonesia.
You are welcome :)
Another quality video👍
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it :)
Still have a cream colour Baretta I bought new in 86 . I Use it in some recordings when needed . The stock seymour pick-ups are super chunky with some wicked gain for heavier riffs . I would never sell it but I see the prices rising substantially for these originals . Nice to see a vid on these nice work .
Amazing! They are such great and iconic guitars. I am going to keep mine forever :) Yes, the prices have gone up substantially in the last few years. I wish I had bought more a few years back! lol!
Brilliant! Love it!
Thanks! Glad you like it :)
Absolutely the most talented and beautiful guitarist in a couple of generations . ❤
Thanks 😁
The JBJs are not a different pickup than the JB. They are merely JBs that were wound by Maricela Juarez. Maricela wound the majority of the JBs in the 80s, so the majority of 80s JBs are JBJs. They are not a different model, they were the standard JB of that era.
Very nice lesson. I already subscribed the channel. Just one request : the intro solo is really nice. What about one video showing how to play it? Keep the amazing work.
Thanks! This lesson is in the pipeline :) I’ve been asked by quite a lot of people to do a vid on this which is really nice. I’ll cover the chords/riff and the solo bits. Keep an eye on the channel as I plan on making the video in the next month :)
New subscriber here. Appreciate the thorough hack lesson 🙏🏼🎸
Thanks for subscribing! I’m glad you liked the lesson :)
Thank You...❤
You are welcome :)
Great lesson now a subscriber thank you
Thank you :)
Nice video, thank you. And an impressive stank face in the play through!
Haha thanks, the face has taken years of practice!
This was awesome! I had my volume at the end of my chain of new Boss pedals. It sounded horrible. I watched this video and went with your suggestion. It now sounds amazing! Thanks! 😃👍
You are welcome! I’m glad the video has helped you with your pedal chain 😃
Thank you Johnny Marr for playing it in standard tuning at Glasto!
Indeed, thanks to that video playing this song live has become a lot easier :) Glad you liked the video!
cool Quick, throw in an SH-5 seymour duncan custom or a seymour duncan '78.
I’ll check those pickups out, have never played them :)
Great
Thanks!
Great lesson ! Thank you 🙏 subbed!
Thank you :)
Really great lesson! Plus I love the intro song! What’s that?🤟🤟🤟
Thank you :) The intro song is something I wrote, kinda like a intro song to the channel. A few people have asked me to make a lesson on it so I may do that at some point :)
Thanks for your replay man! New subscriber here. The intro song is great and the last cascade notes are killer! Plus I really enjoy your videos! Bless you man! 🤟
Great tutorial! But how could you not know that was Johnny Marr performing with The Killers...
Wow, that's amazing. Absolutely underrated video. Definitely easier to play than the original. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks! I've glad you liked the video :) I uploaded the rest of the song last weekend. Here's the link th-cam.com/video/f1dey3Vlyac/w-d-xo.html - Enjoy :)
F I really need to get me a whammy bar
They are a lot of fun :)
would love to try this song live and would be extremely appreciative of a full tutorial!
Hi, I added it to my channel last week :) Here's the link - th-cam.com/video/f1dey3Vlyac/w-d-xo.html
You're the man!!!!
C over E? It will always be C 1st inversion to me.
It could be either. I tend to use C over E or C/E for teaching as it’s more commonly used and is seen in more chord charts :)
Merci beaucoup car je suis meilleur grâce à toi😊
You are very welcome! I’m glad the video has helped you :)
