Hello, "Robi Ds Garage" I was analyzing your channel and saw that in your channel have some problem, That's why your channel is not much growing and not getting much engagement, If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. If you tell I can tell these problems. Where can I tell? Here or ig or where?
Very cool stuff, can't wait to see more of the car.
@@outdoors-with-Den Thanks. This stuff is the real deal. Leaves no residu and only a mild smell like a greasy engine part. Nothing overpowering. I'm pretty amazed. It's reusable too.
Looks good to me.
Gotta see it up close lol.
Plz keep us updated
Looks like a duster with a slant 6 engine. WELL WORTH RESTORATION
It was a /6. She's now rocking a 340.
you're speeding!!!!
Only a little lol.
Very cool, that would be a lot of fun.
Just not fast enough lol
I have a similar issue with mine previous owner chsnged lifters same area mine ticks! Did you change lifters with the pushrods or just the longer rods?
I just ended up buying new pushrods. The old ones were worn down to different lengths. Just ordered stock length for a 340 and they tightened everything up.
She's Gorgeous bro 😎
Thank you. It's a driver. 😊
Very cool, can't wait to see it painted.
Thanks. It's a ways out. Lol
The side with the gap doll hammer your spot welds to stretch the weld to lessen the shrinkage
Good idea. Will probably do a little of that when before I skim coat it.
Very cool Bro!
Thanks!
It turned out to be a nice day. I own the white New Yorker in the back 😊
I'd never been to this one. I'm glad I happened upon it.
@@robidsgarage It was my first as well. Nice cars and nice people. I'd do it again.
I remember those cold vinyl cold starts.holy crap
It is waaaaay warmer inside your garage… it’s probably closer to 32 degrees cold start not 11
found the timing set , often are designed with retard . after measuring installed centreline , I elected to advance , cam timing with the use of an offset key . sacrifice a little torque for greater mid to upper rpm . personally feel a degree wheel and dial indicator with magnetic base , basic home tools . These items are inexpensive
you didn’t measure valve lash ?
At the time of assembly, I just did a clearance check to make sure the valves weren't hitting pistons and nothing was binding. Things missed from the inexperience of a first time build. 😉
What I’ve seen on the few chevy’s I’ve fixed wasn’t the peak “lift” of the lobe, it was wiping the material around to the base circle of the lobe and never allow the valve to fully seat. That would result in a misfire.
I’ve personally never had a flat tapped go bad. I know it’s all over TH-cam, but I’ve never had an issue. I watched your “break in” vid. What oil did you run ? Straight 30 break in oil with over 3000ppm of zinc ? Looked like a lot of idle time. I don’t mess with a timing light on break in,check oil pressure, set the dist by ear, and immediately run 3000rpm for 10 minutes, then vary between 1500-3000 for 20 minutes. I run a big fan in front of the radiator to help keep the heat down. Just my 2¢ on how I do it.
Had a tach hooked up and didn't realize that it had adjustable settings for engine size. It was set to a six cylinder so my reading was way off. Said I was closer to 3k but looking back it was more around 1500. I used 40 weight with a lot of zink additive. I've checked it all over and everything looks good. My pushrods ended up being worn out and were too short. It's sounding much better now and I'm just waiting on a new carb that should be here tomorrow.
@@robidsgarage Good to hear. Pushrods are cheap and easy. You should have at least .030” lifter compression with the valve closed. Sometimes that’s the difference between a factory .018-.020 steel shim, and an aftermarket .038-.040 composite head gasket. I like the Mr.Gasket I think it’s an 1121G part# , .028 compressed.
@@ThirteenTwentyRepair Yes the rods I put back in were on average looked to be about .030 longer than the old worn out ones. Had a couple lifters that weren't even contacting on the low side of the cam lobe on my #4 and #8 exhaust side. It had a lot more power after I put it all back together but still waiting on my carb to see if I can get it running smooth. Has an old eddy 750 on it that I can't seem to get dialed in so I bought a 650 AVS 2 I'm gonna try. Couple people told me my 340 might like it better. I'll find out soon.
@@robidsgarage Those Edelbrocks (love em !!) are notorious for the off idle stumble. I always had great results swapping the factory step up springs for a set of “Silver” springs from Edelbrocks kit.
The flat tappet cam and lifters are a problem. A hyd roller is the answer, you only have to buy and install them once.
I'm researching roller setup as we speak. Any suggestions as ive heard the LA engines have a short lifter bore that can cause the oil hole in the lifters to be exposed.
I really don't know much, if anything about a Mopar, Uncle Tony's Garage does. He would know what you need to know.@@robidsgarage
Maybe someone knows and will comment, good luck bro!
I'm thinking it's got to do with pushrod length. If it's not supplying constant pressure on the cam when it's at the small part of the lobe, it won't be contacting the lifter enough to cause it to rotate.
Sounds good, I could never build my own motor.
Sure ya could. 😁
I still put white letter tires on everything! lol
Where did this meet take place?
Sorry for the late reply. Its in Warren Michigan. They have it every year in Feb. at Macomb Community Colledge.
Cool couple A bodies! Mopar salute from Ohio
Thank you sir. This midwest salt beats em up pretty good.
Add another salute from Ohio!
Dude, your voice still sounds the same as when we were teenagers 😆
Sure wished i still looked closer to what i used to lol.
What part of Michigan ?
@@brianwil89 Warren area.
@@robidsgarage I’m near Lansing Don’t see to many Duster guys on TH-cam in Michigan.
@@brianwil89 I like these A body's.
love the shirt!
Lol thanks. Kids..
