Fantastic !!
Billy Hart to the rescue!
Sounds like they put more feeling than the original
wow
Would love an updated version of this video. Maybe if you've changed anything about it, some closeups, anything that people should keep in mind when using this technique, etc. It's been very helpful!
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite films! Sounds so good! Love that Miles and Trane sound too!
Terrific composition - terrific rendition
WOW...just wow! Easily my favourite grusin piece.
Gorgeous. Does anyone know if this trio ever recorded?
ESPECTACULAR!
What a song!!!! Wow, one of my fav. soundtracks
excellent Brad!!!
I feel sorry for the musicians, playing where no one's paying any attention, waitstaff hustling back and forth, and these guys are trying to play some stuff that's a bit out of the standard repertoire but all the customers care about is getting their plate of pasta...they might as well have just hired a cocktail pianist to noodle around.
Paa Kow!
Killin. Sounds a little like the live from around the world record from Miles.
great solo Brad!
George is so funky man
Fascinating! Speaking of Roy Eldridge: I heard a radio show in NYC where Phil Shaap was talkin about getting a lesson from Roy. Roy said to think like the bottom half of the mouthpiece was actually the bottom quarter and to play in the middle of that bottom quarter. Crazy but cool. Just like this video!
It's not a range development exercise! It's a test of embouchure firmness, for people who believe one should play with a very firm, active embouchure formation. Thanks for your interest! BG
Thanks for the video. I'm a little doubtful, though; sounds like it's really an exercise for an advanced player with a strong "lead trumpet" upper register, and that ain't me. Not sure it would be helpful unless you're already a screamer.
Great job Derek! Cool time and man what a band.Ernie is a force of nature ain't he!
My new favorite of Brad Goode's mastery.
Very nice! Beautiful performance! Thanks for sharing this!
Wonderful. He was full of talent.
Great movie. Great theme. Great performance. Love it. Thanks so much to the performers and for sharing this!
Wonderful tune.Thank you for this.
What on earth does acquired taste mean? I THINK it means that the "taster" doesn't have a sophisticated set of taste buds and has absolutely NOTHING to do with what is presented to the taster. In other words get in the woodshed! It will make you appreciate
Thanks for posting this. Drummer (Paa Kow?) is feelin' it! Would love to hear him on more of your originals. Looking forward to the new release this year!
Although this is a warm-up, I've been trying my own version of this, and it seems to help me with my range, making our G sitting on the top of the staff "home base" for me. Granted, I don't have Brad's range in any form or fashion, meaning, I don't think I can even buzz as high as he can. At any rate, thanks for the tip Brad. This makes the daily practice more efficient, so you can get onto working on music you need to prepare or learn.
Thanks!
The mouthpiece is a Bach 10 1/12c, cut and replated by a man named Lynn Asper.
Nice video! What is the name of the company that produces the cutaway mouthpiece that you use?
A clarinetist didn't like it.
Nice work brad.... thanks.
Hi Brad, These are your students, right? You are certainly over-qualified to be in this band!
Great music, what a great bass sound! Swinging all around.
I totally see what you mean; Brad's style is an acquired taste for sure. However, if any trumpeter on the planet right now knows the language, it's Brad Goode. I've had the privilege to play with him a few times, and this guy is the top of the game. He likes to take things a step further in his own direction, though--sometimes it works, sometimes not. Check out both "Polytonal Dance Party," and then "Tight Like This." He's creative, and I like it. He is a phenomenal lead player as well..!
@maharba1357 are you kidding me he has his own voice which is very hard to come by.
Brad, I always love hearing you play. With the internet I am able to do just that. You have a wonderful way of bringing a piece of metal to life and telling a story with it. As alot of miles separate our friendship (Colorado to Ohio), since our college days at the University of Kentucky, I am glad to have had the opportunity to be your friend and learn what Jazz is all about. Your friend, Daniel Stein
Yeah brad!!
Seriously?
This is amazing, Brad! Wow!
trumpet needs to learn the language.
someone needs to shut that drummer up, and stick the handle end of a brush up his butt.
You changed keys when you descended.
FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool, Brad, and thanks. Your time here at Miami University was very beneficial to the whole gang. It was great to have you here.
Fantastic, thanks for posting this!
Thanks for the info Brad! i'll try these techniques on my cut away mouthpiece.
