Just out of interest. One of the Royal Artillery batteries I served in had the Battle Honour, "The Residency, Lucknow". One of its members Bombardier Jacob Thomas was one of the first recipients of the VC for his actions during the siege of the Residency in Lucknow.

I just ran across this video. Shotgun Collins (Abraham "Abram" Gerden Graham) is my great grandfather (Hosea Adleton Graham, Jr's) older brother. The family is only beginning to discover him and falling into this ever-deepening hole of information, as no one EVER spoke of this. My great-grandparents took in his 2 daughters and raised them with their own 2 daughter's (my grandmother and her sister) and now we know why. Shotgun had 6 children (maybe 5 were with wife Tibithea "Tibbie" Cox). All born in New Mexico. They had 4 boys (Henry Cox, Hosea, Abe and August), then 2 daughters (Belle/Belle and Jessie Jane). I have a photo of his daughter's Bell and Jessie taken in 1910 with my great-grandparents, my grandmother and her sister. I am curious if he named Bell/Belle after Belle Star and Jessie Jane after Jessie James now, since they seem to possibly have been his group of friends.Thank you for this video and your work!

Sir Colin was a close friend of my Granfather & I met him on many occasion. I found him to be warm & straightforward. He tried his best to steer me into a military career, but it wasn't for me. My grandfather was a boss in Grays Carpet factory in Ayr where Sir Colin was a shareholder & director.

I find this man interesting considering his experiences previous to his stint in Ireland, details of his studies of characters like Collins may have shaped his future exploits , it really reminds me of early irish exploits , maybe you should do a particular account on this and their interactions?

It's pretty neat that we still have some of the Victorian homes still standing to this day after the fires. The old jail too. It was a tumultuous time for the residents of Vernon Co. Mo. but showed the effectiveness of asymmetrical warfare shown by the Bushwhackers hence their namesake. It's all good we paid them back soon after but what a waste it was at the end of the day. I still say the Civil War was the deadliest war because Americans were the only casualties.

Interesting. The wooden pontoons supporting the bridge, in the picture, were used for many years. In the late 1970s there were still a couple wooden pontoons at Ft. Belvior, VA, the US Army Engineer Center. I had a set of the M4T6 float bridge with rubber pontoons. in 1976. Good Luck, Rick

You did not mention that Admiral Horatio Viscount Nelson became the greatest (arguably) fleet commander in history despite suffering from chronic Mal de Mar. Yes. The greatest fighting sailor in history was perpetually sea-sick.

Is Viscount higher than Duke? Given how rare it is, so one would think. You were too modest. Nelson is The Definition of a fighting Admiral.
