Replacing the oil pan in my 2001 Audi A4. The job took around 11 hours to do and it wasn't that difficult at all! All you need is a few simple tools. I hope this helps. I will gladly answer any questions you may have. Thanks for watching I will hopefully be putting up more videos soon! Happy wrenching.

I'd comment my current situation with my 03 passat 1.8t but you dont reply
What do you mean crank the engine till you get a gap ?? I been doing this and I'm stuck for about 40 minutes now just figuring out a way to get those two fuckers out and I didn't fully understand how you explained it
Salah Haji there's a noch in the flywheel Turn the engine until the notch in the flywheel aligned with the bolt
thanksman!
how much did u torque the oil pan bolts thanks
good job!
It took you 11 hours! Don't decide to do this for a living as it should take you 2h max.
i want to try this myself tomorrow, but damn im missing a second jack..
thanks for the video man!
Where did you find the oil pan?
Great video, but i've Got a quastion. What did u use as gasget ?
Good video man, ive gotta do this as well due to sludge and its nice to know i can do it myself. Did you run any cleaner through the engine or replace the oil pick up screen when doing this?
How much should I be paying a shop to replace mine? I cracked mine today also...I don't want to get ripped off
How much does the panel cost I broke mine 2 days ago now I can't drive to work.
Is it the same as the a4 turbo 1.8 on a 1999?
I had to replace the oil pan on my audi, then seriously 4 days later a truck ran me off the road. Now i have to do it again.
How can i change oil pump for 02 audi allroad plz
Would this be the same process for an 03 A6? Please let me know asap. THANKS!
Wow, gotta do this on a 1998 1.8 Turbo, I see a couple off ppl have talked about long screws and brackets they didn't get off, just b4 I start did you miss anything out at all? Important to listen to your chit chat as well I guess :) Any way, one damn good video mate, thanks a lot :)
I have the same exact exhaust on my a4 (b5) does it humm extremely loud when your in the car? Mine is extremely loud in the car and is a bit annoying. Any solutions ?
but didnt you have to jack it up from the oil pan? or where did you jack it up from?
Great video. Thanks.
I know this was 6 months ago but I too am stuck on that same bracket at the front how did you manage to take it off? thanks in advance.
I am in the process of doing I am stuck with a pan bolt at the front of the car there is a metal plate blocking access to this bolt. Did you have this problem.
shorty5150 yea, i have the same problem
theres a nut holding that idler pulley take it out and then insert a screwdriver into the metal plate and start pushing forward to move it out of your way and insert the allen key at the same time. i did this by myself.
Hello. Im working on my 1999 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo. So i did follow everything on the video, but i cannot take it out the oil pan now... Could you help me...??? I take off the thing on the front bracket that has 3 bolts but how do i remove that bracket because its wont let me to take the iol pan off...
we have the same problem . how did you get around that ?
Hey what's up, I did this job in November thanks to this video. That bracket out front has to be taken off, to do that I had put the car in "service position" which means to pull the front end off....... BUT don't fret!!!! you do not need to pull it off completely, just about 3 inches will give you room to drop that bracket (make sure your face isn't under that bracket, cause its actually pretty heavy lol) thannn you should be able to drop the pan
Im going to start this tomorrow, so i do not have to drop the subframe so i can wiggle the oil pan out? Dropping the engine is enough? Also which tool would u suggest for the bolts between the subframe and pan that are hard to get to? :)
I really hope I get my stuff, I'm just worried because there a lot of people saying they never got there stuff. It always nice to see a vid to prove he really does send you your stuff.
You're welcome!
u my friend are amazing been stuck doing this all day thanks
so is that just the lower pan or both , my sis in law has 96 a4 same problem i think , forums say lower pan two hour job
I got enough clearance from just jacking up the engine.
Did you have to drop the subframe or were you able to get enough clearance just jacking up the engine?
Good luck!
They used JB weld to fix an oil pan?
Also no matter how high i seem to jack the engine I cannot get the last long bolt out? any suggestions?
Hey Great video man. I have a 98 A4 1.8t and I'm stuck on the last long bolt that won't clear the crossmember and the bracket on the front of the engine is not allowing the oil pan to pass either. On the bracket towards the front their is this smaller piece that is welded to the bracket kinda u shaped and doesn't attach to anything? Im thinking about cuttng it but its gonna be a bitch cause its in a tight space. How did you get past the bracket on the front?
I agree. if you want, his name is Chris Ratliff, look him up on Facebook and you can see a piture of it after the crash.
I didn't have to on my A4, but I'm not completely sure if you would have to on an A6.
Hey so I'm having to replace both the lower and upper oil pan on my 1999 a6. Did you have to detach the cv joints before you were able to lift the engine that high?
Damn that sucks!
Damn that sucks!
The white Evo around the middle, It was hit by a drunk driver (woman) and the owner had to get it replaced from all of the damage it caused, it was totaled.
You will get them eventually it took me a few months.
I hope I will receive mine it was mark that it was taking 5-10 day but I ordered since 4weeks ago ! :(
I needed it done quickly or I probably would have replaced that. The car didn't completely run out of oil I stopped right after I bottomed out.
