Not every church has a stripper pole. But, then again, the Church of the Little Green Man isn’t like every church. You might say it deconstructs the very idea of what a church is.
The Church of the Little Green Man is a performance art event that has endured for over thirty years. Born in a tiny East Village club in the nineteen-eighties, the CLGM has since migrated to a restored historical church in Sullivan County New York.
This is Mike Osterhout’s church. His approach is raw, provocative, and gleefully absurd. Some might see his work as blasphemous or offensive, but, for his congregation, it forms a sanctuary. Mike is an artist who thrives on human connections. Through his devotion to his community, he’s created a safe place to transgress in the Catskills.

    Thank you for recognising the death of the club scene as a political agenda , I live in the Uk and i have been saying it for years ….. there is a war being waged on our youth .We thrive on movement especially when it pushes against the political establishment. It’s a mass neutering of our light and I hate it 😢

    I think Walt needs to make guided meditation music because his voice is so hypnotic and therapeutic. He sounds and looks like a beautiful human beings. His looks back in the 90s are so alien beautiful

    He speaks a lot about moving forward and evolving but the emphasis is on his past, and it doesn’t go past me that they focus on his old earrings that he wore in the 90’s and he’s still wearing to this day

    It's not true that people don't need paintings. Paintings are the soul of the artist, ripped out of his or her mind and made whole by the act of painting. I definitely "need" art, as in I cannot survive without beauty around me. Most people don't "need" paintings because they don't understand beauty, and where beauty transports one.

      Agreed. Beauty is essential to life. I think what Mr. LaForge is referring to is the need to "own" a painting or any other work of art. I think he's just expressing how lucky he feels that his work is valued as a commodity in our society.
