Hope Mountain - Smokey Horizons

Reminded this week why is challenging to hike in poor air conditions, smoke from Washington state blanketed the area by the time we hit the trail head and decided to go for it. Didn’t take away from the beauty of this mountain. 🏔️ Music by the wonderful Faux Tales.

I’ve never climbed a mountain before but these are 30 minutes from my house. I think its time to train for this. Thanks for the video. It shows me this is achievable
Great footage Lee!! I was doing some trail maintenance and just returned to the west canyon parking lot, saw a guy ripping in as he just finished the out and back... 3 hours 28 minutes!!!
What…that’s super human lol. Thanks for the kind words! You work in the park?! Or park of one of the clubs?!
@@BCMountainLee I have volunteered for trail work with RMOC (Ridge Meadows Outdoor Club) before, but currently just doing some solo work getting the Mt Nutt south peak access trimmed up (its very overgrown with lots of blowdown)
Wonderful nature views 👏🙋♀️
Cheers 🍻
Love the footage well done 😁👍
Thanks guys! Ive been looking at this these peaks all summer. Think ill get up there 😊
Lets GOOOO
Wow Lee... stunning views... also you’re making me want to buy a drone more and more lol
Thanks for sharing. Really want to do this hike someday.
Hope you get to! It’s a fun one
Spice box crew? 😂 lol awesome video. Wish I could have caught that sunrise on the way up!
Beautiful videos! Love to watch them when it’s too wet to go out or to show my mom who’s not able to reach all the peaks. Subscribed!
Very cool Lee! I want to hike up one of those peaks next time I go up
thats cool
I'm gonna be doing that hike this Saturday, looking forward to it. Great video!
Thanks 🙏 it’s fantastic up there. Have a good time 🏔️
@@BCMountainLee We ended up climbing the smaller Railroad mountain instead but it was nonetheless lovely. Really great area up there
Doing this in about 31 hours! Any tips? Its my first real backpacking trip ever. Were staying two nights to make it easier. I know some people summitt it in a day, but im a noob. Great vid! Am nervous but excited!
Good luck. It is a great experience. Camp where you’re comfortable. Start early on summit day. Will give you time to adjust to the elevation :) crampons and poles. Most people camp at lunch counter. I liked the area just below. Less busy. Let me know how it goes!!
It was awesome! Weather was great, especially coming down. Wasn't too hot, but wasn't too cold. We camped at lunch counter which was VERY windy at night, but all good. Didn't get to summit it over a few reasons. I did try glissading, and that wasn't the best either, but running down was fun and quick as well. Instead of two nights, we stayed one cause none of us rly wanted to spend another night there. Made it back home to Portland at like 12:00 AM. All in all it was a great experience!! The camera really does not capture the actual beauty of the mountain
Thanks for the great tour! Now subscribed to your channel.
Thank you 🙏 glad you enjoyed it
Incredible views 😮
How hard would you rate this? I’m 16 going over to banff in 2 weeks and I’d say I’m in very good shape (athlete)
Really depends on what you’re use to. It’s about an average climb 5/10 difficulty for someone who hikes weekly. Lots of switchbacks and can be windy at the top. Be safe up there and follow the main trail back down to little beehive
Very cool Lee, love the drone footage! Awesome day!
Can’t wait for our next adventure!
Awesome!
Since Lake Garibaldi isn't frozen, I don't think it's a recent hiking video. When was this video taken?
End of December, the lake didn’t stay frozen for long this season.
Awesome!!
Beautiful- and that drone footage is next level!
nice footage. Thank you.
Dude, you must be a real power hiker. Considering that there are only six or seven hours of daylight. Nice film work.
Lol thanks. Yeah I went hard on this one, was super sore for a few days. I ran out of food and didn’t risk going further. 6 hours total via east canyon.
The Golden Ears and the sea of clouds seen from a drone are beautiful.
Pretty lucky 🍀 perfect day
Was this authorized drone use by BC Parks? If not, keep your drones out of our parks. They're a disturbance to wildlife, and other park users. bcparks.ca/plan-your-trip/visit-responsibly/responsible-recreation/#page-section-166
I also went there a year ago and it is a really beautiful trail.
I love this hike!
What's with the meters? From Canada?
Ya lol 🇨🇦
Very nice, amazing views. New friend here.
Drone photography is great
Congratulations on your summit! I think we were there the same day. We summitted later than you and the clouds were blocking Rainier at that time, but still an epic experience.
Thank you, you too! That’s cool, prob passed each other lol For sure, it’s a special one! 🏔️
Awesome Adventure 🥾🥾⛰️!!
Do you think it’s safe to do with microspikes? Is an ice axe necessary?
Possibly later when the snow is melted down, there is a 47% grade before the false summit (pikers peak) and it's nice having something secure on your boots, personally I wouldn't. I used the axe on the steep incline but you can get away with poles.
Appreciate the input, thanks!
Can you avoid the snow/ice on steep incline if you choose to go on talus? @@BCMountainLee
Very cool. Eyeing this one in a one-day trip next week, did South Sister and Bachelor a few weeks ago. Ice axe necessary?
could prob do without
That road before the trailhead looked rough. Do you think it is passable with a normal-clearance sedan and FWD?
Yes it’s doable just take it slow over the washouts. I saw lots of 2wd at trailhead!
Beautiful!🎉
Hi nice shot. What drone do you use?
Dji mini 2 :) Ty :)
Well done it looks like a good one, great to see those big old growth trees up there. Cheers.
thank you :) yeah its a regenerating place for sure.
I just hiked this last Saturday while it hailed Beautiful video!
TY! Hail. Ick lol hope you still had a good time at the top! Lol
Beautiful!! This is on My list!
It’s such a good one. In my top 5
@@BCMountainLee , that's awesome!!
