Thanks for the compliment. The front top and front sill fixings were factory fitted. They started to put them in as the seatbelt laws changed in the UK. The one on the transmission tunnel I made to suit the lengths of the (tunnel) seatbelt fixings. All areas were I made new fixings in the car had the strengthening plates behind them to spread the load on the panel.

Thanks, it's an DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Overheard someone commenting negatively on how small the camera was. Little did they know it's capability. It shoots 60fps at 4K resolution and has a gimble built in. Really wanted to get some smooth footage so people don't feel sea sick when they watch the videos.

Thanks - the co driver was very good, it's actually his car that I get to work on and drive. What sort of Austin do you have ?

Austin 1800 MK2 with twin carbs, piper cam and Downton manifold, it goes quite well. I also have a Moggy minor 1098 soon to be 1275 Sprite powered when I get round to finish rebuilding the engine.

Great idea about removing the battery, would certainly make access easier especially for the rear one

I'll check them in a few weeks time - using it daily for a while so it's getting a chance to temperature cycle and 'bed-in'.

It was on our list to spot, lovely car. May bring a 9000 Aero to next years event if I can fix it...

Having driven Cortina Mk1 for over 30k miles and Moggie for a few hundred and spent countless hours pulling them apart and fixing them I'd say there are good and bad points in both. Mk1 1200cc massively underpowered - Moggie 1100 seems faster but in real terms maybe not by much. Parts, support and general cost better on Moggie. Handling better on Cortina. Brakes, don't get me started - Cortina wins in every respect! Steering, Moggie wins with rack and pinion. Fuel economy - Moggie better. Cortina is arguably more cool but Moggie is more cute ...(need to stop waffling now)

I blew the picture up and I can honestly say I've now idea! There is a silver car parked at the end of the road that also looks 1980s👍👍 looks to have a ford badge on the black one btw..

That looks to be Malta before they changed to more European-style number plates which was sometime in the mid 1990s. You can just see the "M" in a circle symbol on some of them. At that time the island was full of useable 1960s cars as well as the odd new one. I agree it looks like a time-traveller, though in that context.

I don't know to be honest. I would guess the fronts could be similar but the rears very different.
