    Thank you for this video. My license is from Pennsylvania, and I am currently waiting over 5 years since starting the process in 2019. The croix rouge has recently told me to "be patient"... Well that's the Swiss way. You pay good money for efficiency which doesn't translate into your own case (also 7 years for my C permit, instead of the normal 5 for North Americans).

      Hi Cathy! Thank you! 🤗 Wow that is such a long time. What are you doing at the moment as you wait? 😅 I wonder if it may also be different due to the fact that I am in the German speaking part of Switzerland. Also why 7 years? Are you also married to a Swiss? 😮

      Hello! I used Mittelpunkt a lot closer to the exam and GrammatikAktiv as a refernce of grammar. It depends on how confident you are with your skills, but if you can speak comfortably without having to look up words constantly, I think they are good enough resources. 😊 Good luck! 💯

      Hey there! ☺️ I didn't count the amount of words that I learned for the B2 level, but I measured it based on how much I understood when I was listening to the radio, podcasts, watching television and reading newspapers. 📺🎶🗞️ I think that's a better indicator of fluency rather than the word count. I also felt comfortable expressing myself despite not knowing all the words in the B2 list from Goethe Institut.

    • @whereshexplores
      @whereshexplores 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Switzerland has 4 official languages and English is not one of them! Knowing English is a plus, but not everyone can speak it. It is mandatory to be at a B2 level in the official languages to work as a physio in Switzerland. This is part of the requirement to get your license approved here.

    Hi Charlene, good day. May I ask if you need to have a license and an experience working as a Physical Therapy, before you can start the pre check? I'm a Non EU from the Philippines and will be taking the exam soon. Does Physiotherapist jobs in Switzerland have an age limit to be able to work? How many years of experience is ideal? Thank you so much for posting this video, it's informative🌺 Have a great day🌼

    • @whereshexplores
      @whereshexplores 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello @lotjasmine! I am not sure since I already had a license before coming here to work. This was regarding the recognition process of an existing license. As for experience, yes they had me write down my job experience. It seemed to me that it was necessary, but I am not 100% sure. I don't think it's specific, but I think that having at the very least a year of work experience is good before moving to a country with a different language because that way you already have your style of working with patients. I think that helps a lot when you try to do it in the new language 😇 I don't think there is a set age limit. I think as long as you are happy and capable to work you can still do it. Good luck with your exam! 😊

      @@whereshexplores HI Charlene, good day. Thank you so much for your reply. May I ask another question again? Hahaha, hope you wont mind, cause it's hard to gather information about Physio in Switzerland. So, you when you went first to Switzerland, during that time did you applied in an agency in Switzerland for an employer? Because, it says that you need a resident permit first before you can work there. Can you survive with the cost of living there? Because it's so expensive but the benefits of living there says it's all. Thank you so much Charlene, hope you can make a video about a day in the life of a Physio in Switzerland, love the views on your videos by the way hahha, thank you so much for posting videos about the online processing. No worries and thank you @lotjasmine! No I didn't have an agency. I had a resident permit already when I started the process because of my husband. I tried to get my license recognized before we got married, but since I didn't have the permit I wasn't able to start it until I received it didn't work. I'm not sure how the process works otherwise since I only know the specific case for me.

      @whereshexplores 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know that people with EU passport have it much easier. Maybe you can take a look at the Spanish residency permit because I saw online that because the Philippines was colonized by Spain they make the process a bit easier. Sometimes it helps to show that email to the school and they can give that to you, but it really matters on your school. I had to ask my University and the PT Department of my University to send some files to me since I didn't have copies of them anymore.

    can you please tell the difference of earning? in which country relatively we can earn more?

    • @whereshexplores
      @whereshexplores ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I think that's a hard question to answer without generalizing based on several factors. 1. Cost of living. Switzerland is more expensive than many US cities. Since I came from the Bay Area in CA it was really expensive there. Food was cheaper, but apartments were more expensive. Then you could be in the countryside of the US getting paid a few thousand dollars less, but apartments don't cost an arm and a leg. 2. Ease of getting a visa as a non-European citizen. It is usually very difficult to get a work visa to Switzerland compared to the US depending on how strong the relations of your country has with Switzerland and/or whether your country is in Europe. If you have an EU country passport then it is much easier to come here. I am a US citizen and I tried to get a work visa in 2019, but there was no option for me. 3. Paid time off. Switzerland has a standard of 20 days paid vacation, while the US has way less (standard of one week). I think you also have to consider that. Maybe you get paid less, but you get more vacation. That's a plus for quality of life for me. So in conclusion, it is very specific to your case/opinion. For example, in my situation, my pay range stayed about the same, but I earned more vacation days and the rent here is much cheaper than what I paid for. Best of luck and I hope I answered your questions!

      @@whereshexplores thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, i don't have Instagram. Was it easy for you to get a job in Switzerland? And how difficult was it to transition to working completely in German (note taking, talking to patients, and coworkers, etc.)?

      Sorry for just replying now, YT notifications are not so good. As a foreigner, you have to pass the B2 exam before being a licensed PT. I grew up bilingual and have an easy time learning languages so it was easier for me than others. I was able to understand some Swiss German within the first 3 months of working so that made it easier working with patients since I worked mostly with elderly clients. Writing is the most challenging, but thank goodness for the internet translations 😉

    My Tips for Traveling to Cinque Terre: 1. Pack light. You will most likely not have an elevator and you have to bring your luggage through many stairs. 2. Book your accommodations ahead of time! I would recommend staying in Riomaggiore since it had the most stores/restaurants and good vibes. 3. Bring your hiking shoes and swimsuit! It's nice to hike from one town to the next, but do not start the hike too late since it may take longer than you think. If you have your swimsuit handy then you can just jump into the water after your hike. 😉 4. Buy the train ticket to go from one town to the other! It is worth it, especially since the hiking trails that connect one town to the next may not be open.
