Large Acrylic Painting of a Tree
I know it's been awhile! I apologize; there's a lot going on in my life! I hope you enjoy watching the process of this large painting. I stretched the canvas myself, it was a custom size for a client. But then she changed her mind, so this is available to anyone who is interested.

Stairwell Makeovers

Here's two examples of how to improve your stairs and railings. The first one is to change the colour from an orange tone to a brown tone. The second one has wear and tear and sun damage. For both I used Saman, which is a water based stain and varnish in one. I sand lightly, clean, tape off and apply Saman. It took three coats to get the right colour and coverage over the orange wood and it too...

I enjoy making wreaths with Christmas Balls and Ornaments. I've learned that the glue needs to be really hot! Yes I've burnt my fingers. And that also makes the glue more fluid, so you get drips. It's probably best to use unbreakable ornaments, glass balls break too easy. It's fine when they are hanging on your door, but storage is the problem. Keep them safe! This commission was for my neice in Winnipeg. I painted it on a loose canvas because my plan was to remove the canvas, take the frame apart and mail everything rolled up. When she received it, she had to put it together, stretch and staple the canvas on. I suggested she watch my video on stretching a canvas.
Furniture Makeover

This friend wanted to spruce up her home. We painted with Benjamin Moore's Simply White. We sanded, cleaned and primed with Benjamin Moore's Styx. Top coated the dining cabinets with Advance in the Pearl finish and the rest of the furniture in Regal Semi Gloss. The stairs and attic floor were painted with Benjamin Moore's Porch and Floor. Painting two abstracts on black canvases

This commission is for a small 12 x 12 " and a large 30" x 60" w. The small one was simple and quick. It will sit on an entry hall table with another piece. The large one took awhile, but it was fun and colourful. It will hang above a bed. Enjoy!
Using Acrylic Gel to make Thick Paint

In this commission, I mixed acrylic gel and modeling paste with my paint to make it thick. The texture achieved when using a catalyst and scrapers is amazing! And it's so colourful too!
Refinishing a wood bench

A friend asked me to do a quick refinish on her antique wood bench... it only took a couple days. I used Minwax dark walnut stain and water based urethane satin finish coat.
Little Abstracts on Wood Panels

I've painted a bunch of abstracts on wood panels. Previously I stained these in different shades of brown and grey. These were the perfect base for scraping acrylic paint across. Creating coloured shapes

For this abstract, I'm applying the paint very thin, so the painting looks like a screen print. I've watered down the acrylic paint and used painters tape to control the lines. Each colour must dry before applying a colour on top, otherwise the affect won't work. I love the results!
One last swim before my surgery

I forgot to post this one! It was my trip to Pinehurst, last time I could drive myself and swim! (Complete knee replacement surgery on Sept. 11, I'm not supposed to drive or swim for 6 weeks.) I also needed to remove the damaged wheel cover and install the new part, while I could still get down on my knees.
Halloween at Pinehurst

The seasonal campers put on a fun night for the kids, celebrating Halloween with a costume contest, candy and a movie. Jane and I enjoyed two nights at the trailer. My best sleep ever. Lots of great conversation and food and drinks! I exercised my new knee and I'm doing really well. Forgetting to take Tylenol, so we know it's getting better!

Creating Textured Abstract Art

I did some big commissions over the past few months. Maybe it's starting to get boring for you! I'll be working on some new projects this fall, I promise. Meanwhile... here's the process of using a scraper or a catalyst to create layers of colours. I let each coat dry before applying the next coat, that's why it's handy to work on four paintings at once.

Many people of this church will not be in Heaven. They are modern day pharisees. I grew up Canadian Reformed, and I also grew up in domestic violence. I got married very young and my husband was abusive. The reformed church told me I needed to apologize to my husband who was abusing me. I actually had a reformed church elder in the house that I bought yell at me. Very thankful I'm out now! God has given me so much favor and power by the Holy Spirit. Come visit Kingdom Worship Centre. We will be at 45 Randall street in Stoney Creek starting first week of May. Right now we are at Hamilton District Christian Highschool at 11am
