can I use this with mac? or only windows?
It's a HMDI monitor so any computer that supports HMDI should be fine with it.
Please! What is the name of those aluminum profiles and the connectors? Where can I buy that in Europe?
You'll find them on the MakerBeam website (www.makerbeam.com/)
Please make more video about Odroid

can you hook it up to a Xbox
As the Xbox has a HDMI output I see no reason why you couldn't connect it. But as the screen size is only 8 inches you may want to go for a larger screen.
@@custompchardware it going to be my afk monitor or just a small screen to play on. Compact Gaming w the Xbox Series S
Ahh I understand now.
I have very strange idea, but i am not an electrician and i need asist with hdplex. I want to stupidly power it with power bank(more likely combine few ones)/batteries. How can i achieve that? Is this even possible and safe?
Yes you can power your computer with a power bank - I covered this in a previous video (th-cam.com/video/f7XkZVs7XcU/w-d-xo.html) . There are a number of off grid solutions from Bluetti, Jackery and other manufacturers who sell Portable Power Stations of varying capacities which output mains voltage. Picking one that is rated to output the wattage you require, and that will last long enough will allow you to operate your computer off grid.
@@custompchardware Yes, there are multiple devices that are good ups, but i was wondering about something small for custom "hand held" console
If you can find a power bank that will output the voltage and amps your console requires, along the lines of a lithium ion or polymer battery it's do-able. Perhaps an e-ink display to help reduce the power needed?
@@custompchardware the over all voltage should be up to 200W actually, but that is with no graphic card, only integrated one, which is quite unsure. However I don't think it will be portable enough to be hand held since no power bank I did find have enough specs. Half of it is best I did find, from green cell
A power draw of 200W is quite a lot for a hand held system. The Odroid 4 computer video I uploaded today only draws around 36W, admittedly that's without a screen. Perhaps consider something like the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W - which would consume around 350mA/2A ?
thank you for the video, very informative
Many thanks, glad you liked it.
Could you test the idle power drawn under windows with 2 harddisks? Would be much appreciated!
It would depend on the type of hard disk, 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives? 5,400, or 7,200 or 10,000 RPM ? There is a section on the Hardkernel web site covering idle power for the H4 series, but only under Linux (www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-h4-ultra/)
Hey does this work with my console?
If your console has HDMI output then I see no reason why it wouldn't. The monitor comes with a USB PSU to power it if your console doesn't provide enough power through it's USB sockets.
Good Work, can you create a link where I can extend adding wifi card; second question I have is can get two two slot cards and add 3 instead of 4; can you create how to add ai card and octa link card too; they mentioned that you can extend a full blone gaming pc
I've a series on adding a graphics card to an H3 Odroid, but the same process will work with the H4 (gsfsoftware.co.uk/PBTutorials/Keywords/GRAPHICSCARD.html) You can add wifi with either a dongle or via a M.2 Wifi card. I may be looking at one of the m.2 ai accelerator cards in a later series.
What could be practical use case of this adaptor.. by pretending a virtual Monitor, what can we achieve?
As illustrated in the video you can record videos in 4K resolution without have a 4K monitor. You can also use these emulators to test how the application you are creating will behave on a higher resolution monitor.
I use one of these for DisplayPort whenever I want to do screen capture as I can have a virtual display that the capture software can see, while the screen capture software is on an actual monitor that I can see. I then move my mouse to the virtual screen and monitor through the capture software. It helps a lot in terms of not having random stuff popping up on the screen I'm recording.
Thumbs up just for your accent 😊
Many thanks 😊
You talk about needing slightly taller stand offs. But does this mean it's incompatible with the smaller type 1 case and will only work with the type 2 case which then has a huge hole for the missing netcard?
Yes with the 4x1 M.2 card fully populated it won't fit into the type 1 case. You'd need at least another 5mm clearance to get it to fit. I'm preparing a new video using this Odroid, part of which is a new custom case and power supply.
@@custompchardware that's a shame but makes sense. Is it stable so far?
Yes it's stable so far, no problems encountered.
You sound like Chris from explaining computers channel. 🤔
I'll take that as a huge complement. Chris has a great channel which I've been subscribed to for a long time.

How snappy are windows when using only one pci lane?
The throughput of the NVMe drive with just one PCIe lane is faster than an SSD on a SATA port, so I've not noticed any problems so far.
Was considering buying one of these myself. Nice to know there's loads of room for expansion cheers!
Many thanks, glad you liked the video.

A minha não está sendo reconhecida pelo meu pc, quando coloco no notbook funciona, alguem ja passou por isso?
"Mine is not being recognized by my PC, when I put it in the notebook it works, has anyone experienced this?" I haven't come across this before. Is your PC providing power to the USB cable?
"Yes, I used it with the cable that connects to the inside of the motherboard and it doesn't work, I took it out and connected it with the type-C cable and connected it to the USB on the back of the motherboard and it still doesn't work. It was working and then it stopped, the app keeps telling me to connect and it doesn't go beyond that." Well if both cables and the monitor work with your laptop and not with your PC, logic would suggest that the fault lies with the PC or it's configuration. Is there a graphics card in your PC?
"I have rtx 4070, ryzen 9 7900x3d processor, 32 gb of ram. When it arrived I installed it and it was fine, then it stopped, it just stayed on that initial screen, without generating the other girfs that come, and the app keeps telling me to connect." As you have a graphics card the HDMI cable from the monitor needs to be plugged into a port on the graphics card and not the HDMI socket on your motherboard.
hi, great video. can you please let me know how long does it takes to ship?
Many thanks, glad you liked the video. I ordered both the 4 slot and 2 slot boards and had them in a couple of weeks from the UK distributer.
@@custompchardware Thanks. I just ordered mine.
Can we connect the PC tower and the only one available monitor wirelessly using this dongle?
No, these types of dongles aren't wireless. You would need a "wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver" to achieve this. I've not tried something like this yet, but may add it to the list of possible future videos.
This AI podcast generation is irritating, they waffle on like Leftist news anchors with 10 minutes to fill but only 30 seconds of facts

love this.. these would make a killer nas i wish there was a sata hat like radxa penta sata hat. sata drivers are cheaper and x reduced bandwidth means nvme ssds are overkill
There are M2 NVME M-Key PCI Express to SATA 3.0 6Gbps 6 Ports Adapters on the market, but I've not tried these with the H4 series yet. If they work it could make an excellent HDD NAS.
Does the Ultra come with a discrete TPM module?
Both the H3 and the all of the new H4 series of the Odroid come with built in TPM 2.0, allowing it to support Windows 11 out of the box.
@@custompchardware ah, thanks!
Thanks for the update!
You are most welcome.
looks cool, how about total system power consumption on idle and under load?
Each of the 12 drives do draw 1.8 watts when they spin up, so thats around 22 watts maximum for the drives alone and around 6 watts in total on idle. I'll need to do some measurements for the whole system when my new power meter arrives.
@@custompchardware that sounds quite impressive. Since running a system, besides build cost, it also comes with added energy costs, if I may suggest, I would post power consumption on idle in general when discussing builds, as it adds up over time, and most machines are idle 99%-ish of the time. It would also be very interesting to test idle consumption cost when using SSDs. At 2TB they should be about the same price point.
In the UK 2.5 SSDs are selling for around £100 and the HDDs I use come in at £70, so there is still a bit of a difference, but the margin is narrowing. I'll look to add these stats to future videos.
AWSOME
Glad you liked the video.

@@custompchardware thank you
How would one go about putting this in a standard mini itx case? Would it require custom drilling for the mounting bracket or something or could it just sit in the bottom of the case somehow? I'm new to mini pcs and wanted a quiet psu solution for the case I got that takes a standard flex psu that fits in the bottom of the case.
They have a couple of brackets for sfx and atx to allow for the mains cable - hdplex.com/hdplex-sfx-bracket.html - but you would need to bolt the front mounting plate to your case, which may involve some custom drilling depending on your case.
So why is it passive, if there is a fan? Why does the fan face psu wall? Heard these run pretty hot but that's probably the point with GaN.. however there is still plenty of plastic there :).
The 500W version has an internal fan that activates at >60°C. The 250W version doesn't have a fan. The casing of both PSUs is aluminium alloy. I've not run these close to their limits but from what I've seen the case can get warm to the touch but not too hot to handle.
Think this might be able to be cramed into a velka 3?
As the Velka 3 takes a ENP-7660B-VK 600W Flex ATX PSU I think that it could be done. Of course as long as your system doesn't need more than 250W.
What are their difference they have 4 different model of 15.6 1080p 60hz. The T03 , J03 , T15 and just the regular 1080p
All 4 of these I have purchased are the same type (1080p 60Hz) with the standard HDMI socket, I noted that there is another model with a mini HDMI that is slightly cheaper on Amazon. As I have only the one type I can't comment on the others as to how well they compare, but the ones I have work well.
are you doing a video on the HDPLEX 800W DC-ATX with 12V-63VDC Input
I've don't have any immediate plans for a system based on this PSU, but when it comes time to build/rebuild one of the larger more powerful systems then this PSU would be a candidate.
thank you! i've always been looking at portable monitors these days because they're a lot cheaper! this particular model only retails for 150$ from where i am, and i'm thinking of getting 2
I'm glad you found the video helpful. I now have four of these monitors as they are large enough to be useful but small enough to not take up a lot of room. Plus they only draw about 15w.
Can u connect an android phone with dex with one cable powered by the phone?
That's a good question, unfortunately I don't have a Samsung phone to be able to use DeX. The monitor does ship with a USB C power supply plug, and I'm doubtful that you would be able to power the monitor from the phone itself. I have powered the monitor from a USB C cable plugged into a desktop though.
That's a lovely kit, looking forward to watch your follow up videos.
Yes the kit was packaged well, has great documentation and with the integrated keyboard, display and case has the possibility of being a stand alone system.
How's it after almost one year? Planning to buy one to use with my Macbook.
Still working well, I ended up buying four of them. I've not had any problems with any of them on Windows systems.
Wow, when you say custom. . you meant it. I have a similar, but 4x U.2 SSD and 12x SATA SSD (just like you, dual 6x icydocks) unit about the same size. I use a PEX 8724 HBA card in the 16x slot, 6x sata off the MB, 6 more off a PCIe SATA card in the 4x slot. I use an M.2 to 4x PCIe adapter card for a 10gbe nic all packed up in a silverstone SG02-F case. It had two 5.25" front drive bays for optical disks that were perfect for the icydocs. I have the advantage of just building this ~8 months ago. It's pretty awesome that you built your own case.
Thank you, your rig sounds impressive too. The Icy Docks range of cages are really good for these type of builds, packing so many SSDs or hard drives in a limited space.
amazing piece of hardware
Indeed it is.
Hi i'm trying to do the same. How do you starte the gpu power supply. There is a switch but how do you link it ? Ragards.
You talk about a "power switch" in the vidéo 🙂
Another question 😊 The 500w power supply also power the odroid ?or there are 2 power supplies ?regards 🙂
The HDPlex PSU is for the Graphics card, the Odroid has it's own PSU, so yes there are two PSUs. If you have a look at part 5 (th-cam.com/video/sRxT45bbGhU/w-d-xo.html) you'll see the Odroid power switch. Once the Odroid is powered on the PCIe card starts to draw power for the GPU.
Is it a magnetic case?
Yes the cover/stand does have magnets in it.
@@custompchardware Thanks. I'll buy it.
@@custompchardware .. Thanks I'll buy this Bro
I keep watching your videos saying eventually I’m gonna make my own case one day…
