Bugwall installed in low-roof NCV3 2016 Sprinter

I installed the Bugwall sliding door screen, and their Garage V2 rear door screen on our 2016 low roof NCv3 Sprinter. These are hanging door panels to allow airflow, mitigate bugs, and also insulate in extreme temperatures. I love that the screen easily swap out with the insulated panels, this is huge for us for keeping the A/C or heat inside the van. So far really happy with the result. This i...

Hi does the ulanzi inside pocket fit an 11 inch tablet? (Not the main compartment) but the interiorpocket sleeve
I have an older 11 inch iPad Pro, and it does not fit - the inner pocket narrows too much at the bottom.
@@Mike_Lynn i thought so. Thanks for confirming!
Except you got the intake air and discharge air side by side 😂
I followed the directions in the box at the time, and used the provided template.
I find this very helpful, ty I'm at the edge of my seat, I'm almost pushing the buy it button
Happy to help
I just got mine 5 days ago, and should be getting my battery today. I live in my BMW 335xi, and my ecoflow wave 2 works awesome
Thank you for putting this together! I appreciate how y'all built it out precisely for your use case.
Thank you, I really appreciate that.
They didn't send my battery
That stinks.
Wow, a piece of foam with 2 holes in it. Very generous!
I'd rather appreciate the packaging engineer who thought through the end user's needs, but hey - you do you.
@@Mike_Lynn I'm just disgruntled that I bought it & a power station, and neither come with the proprietary DC-DC power cable, which is $70 more.
@@robertclark5874 I agree. I was also disappointed that the system actually created more heat in my van while operating. Part 2: th-cam.com/users/shorts02bVHFWFiNA?feature=share
You have to use both vents@@Mike_Lynn
I bought one last year and so far it’s not with the hype or the price
Agreed. You'll see in my follow-up short that it didn't work for me. I had tried the Wave 1 as well, and so returned it as soon as I confirmed it wouldn't work in the Texas heat. I'm installing a 12v split unit instead.
That's cool! I'm considering whether to purchase the Wave 2 for my campervan to use like this or to opt for installing a rooftop air conditioner.
What climate are you in, and how insulated is your van? Here in Texas the Wave 2 wasn't effective for me and my Sprinter.
Do you have a video of final version of the installed vent on the window
I do, here's the short: Testing the @EcoFlowTech Wave 2 in my Sprinter van. th-cam.com/users/shorts02bVHFWFiNA?feature=share It didn't work for me. If you're in a milder climate, Terrawagen has a window insert that may work for you.
@@Mike_Lynn My campervan is peugeot boxer, they don't have option at Terrawagen unfortunately I'm considering whether to purchase the Wave 2 for my campervan or to opt for installing a rooftop air conditioner.
a clam shell lbt 8006 will be perfect, gonna make it happen!
I picked up an LBT in Multicam Black a few years back when they had a pack & duffel combo. I found it didn't fit my frame comfortably. I think it was the length of the back panel, but I'm not 100% on that.
Is it completely waterproof?
Not like a drybag, no. But the material doesn't absorb water, and it's been fine for me in a light rain.
thank you for the review, does the ulanzi buckle lock sturdy enough to handle full capacity of the bag?
For me yes. With camera gear and everyday accessories, I think it’d be difficult to overload it beyond the buckle capacity.
Thank you for the review!
Happy to help!
Nobody needs high capacity buncha crunch. Those shouldn’t be on the streets.
I may not need the calories, but I definitely need the dopamine.
Love the honest review and tips. Thank you! 👍
Thank you! I appreciate your support.
i was thinking of buying the Ulanzi Shoulder Bag as an EDC sling for a trip to japan instead of a bellroy 9L i dont have any camer gear, mainly because they are cheaper then 9l and 6l here in AUS, i have nintendo switch and was wondering if it would fit in the magnetic pocket in the bag ?
It does! I'd also recommend a pocket umbrella for Japan. I recorded a Short for you: Ulanzi shoulder bag fits the Nintendo Switch. Also my preferred pocket umbrella. th-cam.com/users/shortsXlRc_KN5qEM?feature=share
Which one do you prefer for daily bag? I have ulanzi and thinking to order pilot 7L
I prefer the Pilot 7L. The Ulanzi is fantastic for the price, but I think the Pilot is worth the higher cost.
@@Mike_Lynn how is the main capacity for camera gear? Is it same? I heard pilot is bigger than any other 6-7L bags
@@stefanusadrian8398 very much so. I don't know the true volume, but I can stuff so much more into the Pilot than I can the Ulanzi or Bellroy. I think how the flap closes makes it operate more like a roll-top bag, unlike the zipper closures of the other two.
I got so confused about the milkyway, but then I realized that maybe you arent european like my stupid self.. xD so ok ok, touche, now it all makes sense xD
I love visiting Europe! But I also love having access to Milkyways here in Texas 😄
LOL Milky way bars.. IYKYK.. Nicely done.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed my review.
Is it good for van life ? Honeslty
Not for my van in the Texas heat, no - I posted an update a little bit after. My plan is to install a system from Undermount AC.
nice man
Thanks!
Bunk heaters are the best. I have the cheap Chinese version and it works fantastically.
I'm really happy with it. Floor heating would be wicked, but outside the budget right now.
Hi, do you recommend the pop-top? Any issues (leaks)? How high is it when it is closed? Thanks
I love how it turned out for us, and my kids do too. So far no leaks, though we were warned for the first few seasons it's semi-permeable. Once the fabric is worn in it can be treated. Overall height for our 4x4 van is 8'5" at the top of the low-profile fan.
Did you choose the 30L purely for duel purpose as an EDC bag and travel bag? I'm around 5'9/5'10 and was wondering if it was too long. Albeit I am fine with backpacks that are 20 inches long. Edit: @ 10:45 Ahh I see so technically it rides like a taller 16.5 '' backpack for that extra space.
Exactly, and that was a major draw for me to this pack. The extra space rides tall and not low. One thing I'm trying to figure out is if I can modify it to add a detachable hip belt.
Do know the weight of the pack?
2lbs 4-7/8oz, or 1046g.
Great video and thanks for highlighting this bag maker!
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Nice video thanks for the insight. Do you think the ulanzi bag could be flattened, or even rolled and put in a suitcase without taking up much space or damaging / deforming the bag? I like the idea of bringing a small camera bag without having to carry on a flight
Yes, absolutely - specifically it should flatten fine in a suitcase or backpack. I'm not sure how well it'd roll, but it with the way the sides are gusseted it'll flatten nicely.
Where do you store the Snickers??
😄in my shoulder bag! But I'm also adding a lockbox interior to the plywood cabinetry I'm designing for my V4 layout.
@@Mike_Lynn , looking forward to seeing the new Snicker box!
Where you get the curtains?
Is the ulanzi crushable? Ie can it be packed flat into another bag?
Yeap! With the light padding inside, it won't flatten as much as an unstructured bag would, but with the gusseted sides it flattens nicely.
Awesome, thanks@@Mike_Lynn
Hello, would a DJI Air 3 and his controller fit? or is it too big.
They should fit into any of these three bags, but which bag are you interested in? The Wotancraft, Ulanzi or Bellroy?
Furst of all Thanks for the answer, i would like to know about the ulanzi bag....i am not sure if it is too small for the drone. Many thanks!!!!!
I just got the 9th generation iPad and I have a MacBook Air so I don’t really see the need to invest in a keyboard if I already have a MacBook
Valid point. For my workflow it makes sense, but it'll be different for everyone.
Hope you enjoy your bag, Mike. I have the 10L bag & love it. I do not have the new quick adjustable shoulder strap as my bag is older & the new upgraded strap was not availiable at that time. I believe Wotancraft bags & backpacks are very well designed & offer very good value for their price points. I am a fan of the add on components that can be attached to their bags.😊
I agree fully, and thank you for watching my video. The little 7L is fitting my needs perfectly, and reminds me of an Indiana Jones style satchel. I've thought about picking up the 10L for when I ned to bring my laptop with me, but I think I would overload it - and at that point a backpack probably makes more sense.
That thing in nice but it’s huge.
True, but I'm feeding a family of 4 so the extra space is useful in our situation.
Lol Milky ways
😁
do you find that the finish wears bad on the Ulanzi bag? .. I saw complaints about that and id hate for it to look like crap quick
For me the finish has not worn badly - but I really think it'd depend on how and where you're using the bag. Since posting this video I've really leaned on the Wotancraft as my primary bag. I need to post an update here soon.
@@Mike_Lynn i went ahead and ordered one, -primarily to keep lenses on me to swap out for weddings.
@@onlyfacts4me Awesome! I really think that for the price it can't be beat.
I have one, and it does seem to mark easily. I like the form factor of the bag, but for airline travel, I think it lacks protection. Neither the bottom nor the sides are rigid enough. I was concerned about knocks from other bags when placed in the overhead lockers For an EDC, it is good-light and waterproof. The price is realistic, unlike the Wotancraft line.
I use to bring my ipad M1 with the magickeyboard when I am on travel working , I am not a content creator or digital artist, now I just take a keyboard and my samsung phone, usualy I ask the hotel did they have smart Tv, which most have and I use Samsung DEX for working
I used to work for BlackBerry, and remember when Samsung started showing that around at conferences.
Nice! Just bought one from Camping World... like the idea of the side burner for when boiling water for coffee while cooking eggs and bacon for breakfast. Will be breaking it in with cooking burgers at home before taking it out on the trail.
This weekend I found the piezo igniter on the side burner wasn't working, and had to use a lighter to ignite it. I'm planning to reach out to Blackstone about it.
I lost it when you brought up the Milky Way carry 😂
😄I build most of my EDC around Milky Way carry-ability.
skin looks seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeshh
🤘🔥
Is there any way to external carry a tripod with the ulanzi?
Not a full size one, no. Though the PGYTech Mantis might fit inside or clipped to the shoulder strap.
@@Mike_Lynn I made the suggestion for some kind of tripod loop system to ulanzi. It would make the bag perfect. Imagine strapping a gorillapod or carbon travel tripod of some kind to the bottom ☺️
I had a 10th gen iPad th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
Agreed fully. And still capable of supporting Procreate and a little Adobe.
You never really wanna be that hungry, but if you are, it's good to have a milky way on you.
Exactly! I just received a custom OTW chest pack, just to make sure I can keep a Milkyway on me when hiking. I don't want to be that hungry if I have to arm wrestle a big cat.
hey man just asking, like yourself where you have a mac, i have a chromebook aswell as an ipad which brings me to the question of why you would need a keyboard for you ipad as it almost implies it to be almost a laptop. i’ve recently been contemplating whether to get myself a keyboard for my ipad yet i can’t find quite the need. how do you use your laptop and ipad in terms of when your using the keyboard with it differently? thanks
Good question. One workflow is I use my iPad for signing documents pretty regularly - I'll use my pencil for my signature, and the keyboard for all other fields. Another workflow is if I've drawn or edited something in Procreate and I want to email it somewhere, I'll use the keyboard instead of the digital one. Also, If I'm going to a coffee shop to be creative and do some sketching then I'll bring my iPad only with the keyboard so I can switch between creative and research. Hope this helps!
@@Mike_Lynn yeh thanks man definitely did. appreciate it
how’d you like it ?
So far I’m really enjoying it. We did burgers to help break it in, and they turned out great. I’m going to build a drawer for it in the van and make it a pullout kitchen.
I swap between the Smart Folio keyboard and Magic Keyboard depending on what I’m doing. The Smart Folio keyboard is very versatile switching between pencil for notes and keyboard for emails etc
I haven't tried the smart folio yet, I may look into it further.
Samsung or iPad
I like iPad myself.
0:44 YES!!! thats the reason im getting one asap
Glad to hear it. I'm super happy with mine, even with an older model.
Is this an 11 inch iPad? Thanks
11" iPad Pro
Yes
Hey man. I’m 39 and have ADHD, I’m struggling like crazy at the moment. Only got diagnosed 2 years ago despite having it all my life. I would love to see a video of what helps you. Tech helps me but I’m hitting a wall at the moment.
That's a solid topic, let me think on that and I'll see if I'm happy with the quality of the content I'd be sharing. One thing I'd note is I have yet to find a 'tech solution' - anytime I try an app or a tech to organize my chaos, I just end up hyperfocusing on the tech and not actually solving my problems. Right now my two biggest tools are my Google calendar - to legitimately see what I can fit into a day, and index cards. An index card is tactile, easy to use, and can only fit so much information - constraints are good for me.
Thank you so much for these videos! I've been using the ulanzi bag for a week now (it was super cheap, 30$ new) and it's been amazing, it can actually fit an iPad 11 if you remove the dividers but of course it will eat up space for gear. Anyway I've been also looking into the wotancraft now because I love the design and the functionality, yesterday for example I wanted to pack a couple extra things in the bag but they didn't fit ( a power bank and a beach towel ), also the material of the ulanzi is meh, if only the Pilot 7 was a bit cheaper T_T I now need to decide which color to get just one question, from the outside, how bigger does the pilot look compared the ulanzi? Does it feel bulkier when loaded with the same gear?
Thank you again for the kind words! The Pilot does feel more bulky than the Ulanzi, I think mostly because it has so many more exterior pockets. That said, I find it wears quite nicely and doesn't have anything inside the bag poking at me. The padding goes around the entire compartment (except the top flap).
