Portuguese photographer based in Lisbon, Portugal. Photography and video became a passion a few years ago and never looked back since. Still a lot to learn and a long way to go but here to learn from you and hopefully teach you something also, along the way.
13 Minutes of Relaxing Street Photography in Chicago - Sony A7iii
Going through hundreds of photos is always a headache, as many of you probably know but very much worth it because of how much POV videos mean to me. Watching other photographers sharing their wisdom and creativity was not only inspiring but also very educational. A big chunk of what I know about photography today it is because of these exact POV videos. With that being said, why not take you with me while exploring the beautiful city of Chicago! Hope you like it and feel free to subscribe!

boas fotos mano ! continua :)
Obrigado mano, grande abraço! 🙏🏻
I see you spent time in the west Loop area
Yes sir! Really enjoyed that area. Are you from Chicago?
This will get you somewhere bro, don't give up.
Aw man I appreciate the support, means a lot! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Grande nuno!
Amazing… What focus mode did you use in this video?
Thank you! Most of the time I’m using continuous focus and flexible spot so I can also chose where I want to focus! Thank you for watching 😎
Please tell me about the color correction on these photos.
Ofcourse! Is there anything in specific you’d like to know? Depending on the weather and the mood I wanna go for I play with the exposure first and then the temperature. In this case I went for warmer tones since it was during a warm afternoon. I also play with the tone curve to add contrast by dropping shadows but also to raising the blacks to get the fade look. Finally I play with the color mixer where I choose specific tones of the main colors and finally do the colors grading where a lot of the times I add blue to the shadows and orange to the highlights. To be honest I cant remember the specific editing I did for this video since I’m always changing my edits haha but let me know if you have more questions and thank you for watching! 🙏🏻
Pretty 🥰♥️
Thank you! 😌🙏🏻
@@bynunoalves Thank you for sharing the sunrise. I never knew Chicago could be so beautiful
Hey, how do you achieve that soft blur, hazy look?
Hey! I use a black diffusion filter from K&F. And then in lightroom I decrease clarity. 🙏🏻
Nice
Thank you! 😎
👍
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice shot bro
Thank you brother! 🙏🏻
The 28mm 🔥
Haha indeed 😎
What camera are you using? nice shots btw.
Thank you brother! I’m using the A7iii with just the kit lens 🙏🏻
@@bynunoalves kit lens is alright but cool!
Nice shoot bro
Thank you brother! 🙌🏻
Such a beautiful house!! Lucky folk being able to call it Home!! ❤❤❤
Oh for sure, such a cool home! 🙏🏻
Shoulda left the picture under the windshield wiper!
Haha bro I really wanna do that but it still a bit of an investment 😬 but definitely thinking about it 🙌🏻
Keep the grind bro you will get there
Thank you brother, really appreciate the support! 🙏🏻
Is it good for landscape photography
It will definitely do the job but it is a kit lens so it has its limitations such as the aperture. It also depends on what type of landscape photography you’ll be doing. I took it with me to Iceland and the dolomites in Italy and managed to get some cool content but it is no 24-70mm 2.8f unfortunately 🥲😂 thank you for taking the time to watch 🙌🏻
❤

Very nice!
Thank you! Appreciate it! 🙏🏻

love your photography! I was debating whether to sell my kit lens, but I think I will keep it after watching this :)
I’m really glad you like it, thank you! It’s a very solid lens when starting especially since a new lens can be so expensive haha I really want to upgrade but for now I’m exploring the kit lens potential. Stay tuned for more 😎

I asked my friend - what is it that you like so much about Lisbon? And he said: - It's the light! I was like, what the hell, you trippin man. Then one day I went for a very early meeting in December in Lisbon and the light was just 🤌 Then I started googling and it turns out its true haha its because of where Lisbon is located on this planet along with the proximity of the ocean and what not... Long story short - Lisbon has an amazing light and you sure know how to capture it in this video 👌
Haha yeah Lisbon’s light can definitely showcase it’s beauty. Even in harsh light which usually I’m not a big fan of but you can really play with those pockets of light! 😎 I really appreciate you taking the time to watching and comment brother, means a lot. And again.. when you’re in Lisbon shooting feel free to hit me up, would love to learn from you 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Hey brother! That’s weird. I personally never edit my content on an app but you should be able to do it. Is it possible that for you to edit 4k footage you need to have the paid version? Also, if you shoot in 1080p it should be more than enough quality for your reels especially since instagram will compress the hell out of 4k files, thats why a lot of content creators shoot in 4k and export in 1080p. But you should be able to do it on your phone so I’m wondering if that’s a paid feature. And yeah ofcourse you can edit on your computer, I recommend doing so. You can use CapCut online editor (if you dont face the same problem as the VN app) or Davinci Resolve (the free version). This way you’ll definitely be able to keep that quality but be aware that instagram will compress it quite a bit. For that I recommend googling “best export settings for reels”. That will definitely help you out when exporting your reels. Be safe brother and thank you for watching! 🙏🏻
It is known that when editing for 4k files and reels, it should be 1080, but only Instagram supports it, but most of us shoot in 4K if we have a good camera! When you edit the video and export it, just set it to 1080! . I also wanted to have a good quality, that's why I also decided to shoot in 4k. But when the video with good quality is brought to VN and played there, there is no quality at all, so even a lut is not suite. Currently I don't have a computer bro, so what I'm asking now is should I shoot 4k on Gopro 11? Is shooting in 1080 enough? Does it lose quality at all? Or shoot in 4K and have it edited by someone else who is professional?
1080p will be more than enough to give you a good quality video. From what I’ve searched you can edit 4k on VN so I’m wondering if it’s a paid feature. Have you tried with CapCut?
@@bynunoalves I looked at Capcut but there only premium and all features are open. But that's okay, I'll take the premium. Because I want more clarity and quality, I want to shoot in 4k, just convert to 1080 when exporting! What is your opinion on whether choosing 4k or above is always better? for better quality, what is your opinion?
Even if I shoot in 4k I always export in 1080p because a 4k file will be a lot bigger than 1080p and the bigger the file the more compression instagram will do, affecting the overall quality. Shooting in 4k and exporting in 1080p is more than enough. If you cant edit 4k footage, shooting 1080p in the meantime is perfectly fine.
@@bynunoalves Is it possible to export the video shot in 4k in Capcut Pro (Mobile) to 1080p keeping the quality?
I have a problem that has been bothering you for some time now, I am doing street photography and I am using Gopro 11 for that but I am using 4k 30 fps because I want good clarity for video. But there is no good system to edit this video. So I edit on my mobile phone. App used for that is VN mobile. But as soon as I bring the 4k video I shot on the Gopro to the vn app, it loses quality so it doesn't seem to save. Vn automatically compresses when it comes to app! Why does that happen? Its normal video is of good quality but when brought in VN app the quality is lost. If I edit that video in Adobe on my computer, can I keep the quality and upload the reels to Instagram? Else what should I do to edit and output in the same quality via mobile? Someone told me to skip the 4k and shoot 1080 and if you do that you can edit on mobile! But isn't the quality of 1080 files low, will the quality be there when you put Reels on Instagram? So is it enough for me to shoot video in 1080, can I post Instagram Reels pov video in good quality, ie with clarity to see the numbers on the display of the main camera... Kindly can u give me a solution...
Ignore that dude. idk who he thinks he is. Keep up the good work g!
Haha I understand where he is coming from and has some valid points. But I do appreciate your support brother, means a lot! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Is it allowed under current privacy law in EU to target individual in public spaces and publish their photos? Of course "general group of people in public" is one things, but making picture of single (1-3 people) where you crealy make photo of them? As far as I know for "home/personal use" it's ok. But publishing without a consent not. If I'm wrong and someone could give more details on that it would be great. I like those kind of photography. On the other hand I wouldn't like to be photographed and then my pics published without my consent.
I understand your point and respect your views ofcourse. The photos I take are not for commercial purposes, at all, and to be completely honest with you, it’s sad that my work is diminished by those views, especially when compared to big photographers/youtubers that have been doing it for years. It’s called street photography for a reason and what we do, we do with the utmost respect for people and people’s privacy. We are just capturing moments. I’ll leave you with a few big channels for you to check their POVs and understand what I’m saying. Afterwards I would love to know your opinion on it: - opticalwander - north borders - mike chudley Thank you for sharing your concerns and I appreciate your opinion. 🙏🏻
@@bynunoalves Thanks for replying. I really like your video and the photos you've taken are impressive. I'm starting as well my hobby as a video/photographer too. I'm programmer and I'm also interested in law and privacy. That's why I asked it. I think laws should be clearer and followed more. When I find something I like online, I often ask the creators about their licenses or how they got permission. I've seen many videos online that use clips from other channels or TV shows. In the US, they might be okay because of "fair use" laws, but in the EU, we don't have that law. Law can be complicated, and sometimes lawyers don't give you a clear or quick answer. But it's still good to try to understand the law and see how often people actually follow it, and what the risks are. From what I've found out so far, I'm getting mixed information. I still need to research more. But from watching what people do, especially in European cities where there are many people from the US and other places with different laws about freedom of speech and privacy, I don't expect that most of the people will follow the laws properly. Especially if someone is traveling without researching as law may differ a lot in each country. In general, street photographers defend their right of of freedom of expression, etc. In the other hand we have privacy rules, and sometimes some cases that we even don't think about (political refugee, someone moved to other part of city or to other city/country to avoid being chased by abuser - and avoid public concerts, evens where press is/everyone makes picture - but does it mean it needs to avoid even sitting in the cafe drinking coffee?). I know this cases are more extreme, but may happen. Good to be aware of it. Right now, I think: The legal risk for street photographers who publish picture with a person that may be identifiable seems to be low. Again if at all there is some risk, as I'm not an lawyer and I can be totally mistaken. However, even if the law (in specific country) would say you can't publish certain kinds of photos of people in public, the risk of getting in trouble seems to be low (at least in Portugal) as long as photographers: - Don't make someone look bad in the photo. - Don't put someone in danger, like someone hiding from a dangerous person. - Don't take photos of people who really care about privacy (there might be a chance of being sued in some cases, depending on a few things). - Take down a photo or video if someone asks (either online or in person). That's what I understand for now. I want to find out more and ask people who have popular channels, but they often don't answer these kinds of questions. If I write an article or make a video about this, I'll let you know.
@@bynunoalves I found one video from Lisbon on Mike channel. th-cam.com/video/UQpUMEz32l0/w-d-xo.html Let's see if I will get a response ;)
Well your insight is really appreciated and really helpful and it’s very smart that you’re actually looking into the law side of photography, I should also do the same for safe keeping. From my experience I’ve never had anyone “complaining” about it, quite the opposite, they smile and some even ask for me to take their picture. Which obviously doesn’t mean that one day someone might be bothered and ofcourse I would delete the photo/video on the spot because the point is to do it in the most healthier way possible. Again, photography is a passion so the idea is to do what you love whilst respecting others. Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your point of view and if you’re ever in Lisbon and what do some street photography hit me up! 🙏🏻
Haha would love to see his thoughts on that 😎

Já me aubscrevi :)
:) Novamente agradeço a tua partilha e apoio! 😌🙏🏻
Wish u to reach your goal👍🫶🔥
Thank you so much! 😌🙏🏻
why do you fotograph without askin :( ?
Haha good question brother. Well we’re not always able to do so and street photography, most of the time, is about capturing the moment and respecting peoples space ofcourse. 🙏🏻
