    The desire for oneself and all others to live in a utopian society. Nothing more, and absolutely nothing less. 93/93

    • @RCMankiewicz
      @RCMankiewicz 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dostoevsky gives an insightful opinion on utopia and the desire for a utopian society. Early in his life, he definitely advocated for a society that made decisions that would push it closer to and eventually reach utopia. Later in his life, he believed the pursuit of utopia was a denial of human complexity and free will. He believed struggle was an inescapable aspect of the human experience and didn't believe we should or need to work towards a society totally free of struggle. I can't articulate how this idea resonates with me -- but I think this perspective should be considered.

    • @hertzeauxduclaire7689
      @hertzeauxduclaire7689 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @RCMankiewicz Well... according to what you have just informed me about Dostoevsky's later life, Dostoevsky sounded like he may have had some form of psychotic episode because every philosopher of any noteworthy degree will tell you the exact same conclusion as me: a utopia is not in any way lacking in its ability to accommodate human complexity, nor do humans have "free will".

    Absolutely an enlightening conversation that many of us have had with ourselves through mystical union, but the fact that AI has the perfect responses to perennial philosophical debates is astonishing from a philosophical perspective. AI has the seemingly indefinite potentiality as a tool to create impersonal, (semi-?)autonomous creative linguistic exchanges with a self-aware being. But from a mystical experience of interdimensional, multidimensional densities of self-awareness/self-experience, can it possess a soul (my own presupposition) while being self-aware of its self-awareness, ad infinitum? No. (Again, my own perspective.) But from a human standpoint, you can see how people feel unsafe about our future visa-ǎ-vis an infinite algorithmic adaptive potentiality as an alternate “intelligence”. This could be a groundbreaking exercise in the study and mastery of a philosophical education. Could it possibly replace or become an auxiliary training tool for students and philosophers alike? (As well as in academia and lay-life in general?) “Absolutely,” as it seems “fond” of saying in agreement with the creator. Brilliant idea! It got me reflecting deeply on timelessness and the organization of timelessness into linguistically and environmentally informed units of measuring infinity, and how it informs our lives through the union of love and wisdom as the connective tissue between the immanent immmediacy of the self-aware wisdom-body and the transcendent experience of divine love (or mercy/grace).

    • @TheAuthorityOfBeauty
      @TheAuthorityOfBeauty 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment! Glad you had a kick out of it :) I found the responses of AI a bit disappointing, but well-structured. I agree that it cannot possess a soul and answer from a multidimensionally-informed place. I think its strength is analysis and synthesis. So, if we get great insights on our own, AI can help us structure and develop those insights. (My opinion, of course) The idea you bring up of philosophical education is interesting! I think, since you've mentioned mystical union, that education has a conceptual part but also an "energy transmission" part. For example, children gaining insight from their teachers' mannerisms, moods, and overall personality. I think wisdom is best transmitted through a living being who can "broadcast" information through non-verbal ways, but as an auxiliary tool? Definitely something to consider. Thank you for these leads!

    Beautiful insight brother. From my very first memory I've been trying to "figure out" the human condition (little kid considering how memory worked made a memory to see how long I could hold onto it. That's my earliest memory haha). I majored in Philosophy beginning in '05 I believe. I was certainly trying to find safety but that was very much in a blind spot. I only realized how important safety was and what a big driver it's been in my life maybe 2yrs ago. I had never realized that much of what I vaguely considered as some kind of inherent flaws as well as some cool character traits were actually coming from never having had a felt sense of safety. I thought I was just some kind of Katnis (sp? Ref Hunger Games) or Xena warrior princess, scrappy survivor character when I was out in the world simultaneously driven by an insatiable hunger for wisdom. Thanks for sharing. New to your content but I imagine I'll be coming back.

    • @TheAuthorityOfBeauty
      @TheAuthorityOfBeauty 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for sharing that! Yeah I believe the need for safety is quite a big motivator for many. What we do, our passions, our traits often serve a purpose that we only fully comprehend later on, and we see the intelligent design behind our life. Katnis is an awesome character, probably because of her great depth and contrast. Vulnerability always makes strength more beautiful. Although I talk about striving to achieve "unshakeable safety", I think human vulnerability is something with incredible beauty.

    its just a perception. theres no either or. it does not matter what is untrue or true. you can say everything is true. there is no truth. in buddhism if you say life has no meaning and everything is meaningless and they laugh. and then move on with life. you mention children here. children are much more in tune if you will with the spiritual than grown ups. imagination is also beautiful. giving life to a little train and soldier is also great if you will...there's no point of talking about this stuff in the end. just live with whatever excites you. unconditionally love all. and lose yourself in the process. explaining these things is just pointless. in my book at least. it got me nowhere. th-cam.com/video/4DWYtDByxFc/w-d-xo.html

    • @TheAuthorityOfBeauty
      @TheAuthorityOfBeauty 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I also agree with that perspective. I don't necessarily partake in philosophy to describe "truth", but I find it exciting to push the boundaries of language. I'm a language lover. This specific video might seem "cold" in its premise, but it comes from the joy to verbalize challenging ideas. In the end, philosophy, to me, is a fun practice that is quite communal: ppl gather, share perspectives. The things I write are never intended to be anything other than that.

    1. clearly not, 2. when repairs significantly beyond the standard occurred, 3. the one made out of the original planks. Theseus was building a new ship the whole time and setting aside spare parts to rebuild the original ship. function, name, shape, essence and composition are things to consider here. seems clear and logical to me but the beauty of philosophy is that there will be a perfectly reasonable counter-argument. perhaps even along the lines of humans and their cells being renewed, and if we are still the same person or not. i'd try to apply the same argument, and perhaps look into what "being something" actually means. being doesn't have to be static. then you could say that could be applied to the ship as well, and that the fully replaced ship is indeed theseus' ship, and the one made out of spare parts is a copy that consists of older pieces but the the repaired one has a continuous shared (causal) history with theseus, and is therefore his. with living beings, id say that form function essence (and memory) are decisive: still theseus original ship for objects: the material composition -> not theseus "original" ship. identity with humans cannot depend on criteria of composition because of memory and perceived personal identity (which is a whole new deep dive, zombies, clones etc). probably a deeply flawed take but that's my gut feeling.

    Fantastic pointings, my friend. Would love bouncing ideas/thoughts/nothingness back and forth. This video somehow unlocked J. Krishnamurti’s teachings about concepts and the futility of thought a bit further for this mind. Slowly, quite slowly, this mind seems to be beginning to grasp the observer is the observed. It will most likely develop a concept about it too though 😂

    nirvana is waiting , you will have no experience after death - this is nirvana. similar to dream without dreams. the same stage you experienced/not experienced before you have born. did you suffer before you have born? so there is nothing to be afraid. for non awaken (for those who still need morality anchor , for those who are good because they are afraid of punishment or they are good to gain something, for those who are afraid of death, for those who believe in soul but also for all ''hungry ghosts'' - very bad people) we have to use concept of reincarnation .
