That's not good, the village water wasn't an issue while we were there, but it's definitely making us think we need a back of system to feed the house. I hope Bulgaria has lots of snow this winter to help.

Hi Teresa, thank you. It's odd because when we 1st moved over, I wasn't nervous at all and I knew less BG then but totally integrated in our village, then we moved to Stara Zagora and kind of became more hermit like, which I don't want to happen next time. I think because we lived there for 11 years that we should be able to speak BG far better than we do. I know what you mean about dreading people coming to the gate. Hugs to you for being on your own so much though I know you will no doubt have plenty to keep you busy.

Kath it would be helpful if you can let me know what the specific issue is volume or quality, or both, is it all of the video or parts? The mic seems to work differently in different situations, sometimes it's ok, sometimes not. Thanks.

@@NewBulgarians the sound level was very low and the sound broke up a lot.

We were trying to find an 'impact driver' drill specifically, and a small saw like a chainsaw type saw. Is that what you mean?

@@NewBulgarians yes, when you type "impact driver drill" in google translate, it said : бормашина "ударен винтоверт". bormashina "udaren vintovert". i also cannot speak bulgarian, and cannot read the cyrillian alphabet, but theres is the "phonetic english": bormashina udaren vintovert, which i recognize because i speak some polish, it must be the right translation, for the small chainsaw you can maybe search a picture on your mobile phone and show them ?

@@advandrunen2501 Thanks. We had google translate on our phones but none of the writing corresponded with what we wanted, and all the boxes were on a high top shelf, all staff were busy so we couldn't get any assistance sadly.

Probably you're right. Yes we have had a fantastic experience in another store since, more on this in another video coming soon.

Hiya, Yes we are struggling as far as mics go. We have bought 2 for an Akaso (wired & wireless), we just need to practice more with them as we only used the internal mic for the last couple of videos. It's very frustrating filming something and then finding the sound is terrible, and we can't film it all over again. We may have to do voice overs for the bad recordings in future. There are videos with better sound coming up. Thanks for your support.

Great news that you are applying for your Irish passport 🍀 As for your question, when we originally moved over in 2006 we had to get a letter officially stamped by the bank manager to say we had accounts. I don't remember how much was in there but 8,000 leva sticks in my mind, we also had to sign a declaration to say we wouldn't claim benefits. I've heard others say since Brexit that some immigration offices will just take a copy of your bank card (Yambol). Although it shouldn't differ, it does appear that different regions apply the rules differently. This is the official link from the Bulgarian Migration website www.mvr.bg/migration/en/legislation/legislation/citizens-of-eu but it doesn't give a list of what docs you require just the circumstances under which you can apply. Because our permanent residencies permits had expired in 2021, we emailed migration@mvr.bg and told them which area we would be living in to ask what was required, and they put us in touch with the correct regional office. You will first apply for the long term residency within 90 days of moving there, and then after 5 years of continous long term residency in Bulgaria you can apply for the permanent residency card, which is renewable every 10 years thereafter. Good luck with everything, hope it works out to be your best move ever!

It expired in 2021! Because my passport had changed from the previous residency permit (from UK citizen to Irish citizen) mine took longer than Darren's - he also had a new passport (UK though). Darren's card took 4 working days from the application as we paid for the express service.

@@piuallegro1 we bought our 1st house unseen in 2005. It needed everything doing but we knew that and it was cheap as chips. The lucky thing was that it was in a really good village, and that's the hard part to get right. If parking at Bristol we used Broadfield Park and Fly. Half the price of the silverzone parking, including transfering you to/from the airport which is literally 5 mins from their farm.

It is an incredible sight, but we missed seeing the Pelicans leaving, and storks I guess too, we will see them next year though!

I assume it was the Imperial Eagle you saw, and one of the rarest birds in Bulgaria, and even the world so you were very very lucky! We have seen them too and they are stunning, if you have any of the little souslik creatures in your scrub land, then maybe it is local rather than just passing through as it's a source of food for them and many other birds of prey. @@andrewzi Kes is what inspired Darren as a kid, but Bulgaria is what really got him into nature, we didn't have a clue either, but it's hard not to take an interest in nature when there is so much around you.

Haha, he does love working at the centre, and obviously enjoys a little downtime with the birds sometimes too. It is really such an amazing project and one of its kind in Bulgaria.

We don't mind the sound of the nightingales in the night if we wake as they don't actually wake you, they sing you back to sleep 🙂
