Sakey Rocnuc - Christian Life Teacher of the ELC-PNG
Mr. Sakey Rocnuc was born in Supang in the Finchhafen area of Morobe Province. He was trained as a teacher and worked in the ELC-PNG for all his life. First he taught for five years in the Simbu Province. He became a member of the Simbu Provincial Education Board and represented the Lutheran Church there. His memories of the Simbu people are quite positive and amiable. The ELC-PNG appointed him as Mission Education Officer of Simbu, Western Highlands, Jiwaka and Southern Highlands. People considered him as a missionary from the coast. He also gives a short historical outline of the movement of the coastal missionaries to the highlands. Due to his wide experience in teaching and administration, the church called him to its head office in Lae as the Education Secretary of the ELC-PNG. Later he changed into the Good News Department, where he tried to meet the need for Christian Education in families and schools. He initiated the "Was Long Sipsip" program (Watch my flock) and the Rainbow program so that the Word of God may touch people's hearts in all stages of their lives. Sakey Rocnuc's story is vivid account of his faithful commitment that brings the history of the ELC-PNG to life.

That's true. At that time not only the women fellowship grew wild but also the Sunday schools in Simbu. I was a small girl in Sunday school. When our parents and elders told us that Basanu will be visiting the Sunday school children. We were filled with joy and anxious to meet Basanue . And she always presented us with new songs. She was our idle too.
