YAY Shining series is a personal favourite. The early games are connected, some by characters being in them or by the history of the shared world. The timeline of the story is not the same as the release order but as Ian said you can enjoy any of the games without knowing everything that came before or after. Shining Force I Shining Force side story: I & II ( Shining Force CD is a remake and expansion of side story I & II) Shining Force side story: "Final Conflict" Shining Force II Shining Wisdom Shining & the Darkness Shining the Holy Ark Shining Force III I feel that to an outsider that playing the series or style of game for the first time I would suggest playing Shining Force CD first. It is still clean and simple but is more polished and if Sega releases the Mega Drive Mini 2 outside of Japan it will be available on that.

Glad to see you're both well, first off. Though I haven't played any of the games you mentioned, it was nice to hear someone not talk about COD and fortnite. As for games I've been playing throughout lockdown, I've basically bounced about town. From Trying Death Stranding and Bloodbourne for the first time, Mashing my way through TLOU2, to then buying my first game pass and playing gears 5. The real surprise as someone who fell out of love with racing games a long time ago, I have spent most of lockdown playing Forza Horizon 4 and Loving it. Like the last racing game I played and went back to was Test-drive Unlimited. I like that you confirmed what I had heard from other sources about 'Squadrons', I don't have VR and was torn between getting it for console or not. I think I'll leave it for the time being. Also JC, although we have very different tastes in games I implore you to play 'Fallen order' please. Thanks for helping me pass time in work .👍😀

Dragon Quest VIII up to now, the music was great

I can't seem to beat a Disgaea game I own many of them some have 50+ plus hours but I always just move on and they are so werid and wacky you can't keep the story straight after not playing them for awhile the idea of restarting is a turn off.

Pro of open worlds games - they scratch the MMO itch saves me money and lets face it i don't want to meet and or organize people to do end game content - pretty much everything else you guys said Cons - *looks at GoG* just finished my second 100+ hour play through of The Witcher 3

Well Stadia is locked at 1080p 60FPS atm on the browser. It gets 4k in the browser in 1-3 months though, soo I guess it will look better.

Yeah for context I have 250 down, 20up and Shodown was very, very laggy -- all my combos had input lag of about a second. I also noticed a lot of lag and deresolution stutters for the other games we loaded at my place. Yep Rise is my favorite of the new trilogy. But hey newer games on a Chromebook would be cool for people who are on the go a lot. It's definately a cool concept and interesting to see where the future is heading - It'll get there in time - JC

I remember playing original HM back in my first year of university, but like you I didn't own it. The first one in the series I actually owned was the PS2 game "Save the Homeland." Unpopular opinion - I liked this version. Probably because it was the first one I bought and maybe I'm just projecting, but whatever. 9 different endings to the game appealed to me back then. The only downside to that game was it didn't have the "Harvest Moon experience" because of those 9 endings being the goal rather than simply raising a farm and a family and happily ever after. Every once in a while, I'll fire up the emulator machine and run original HM for kicks. I don't know if I agree with your assessment of playing an original game in its original format being (implied) superior but I definitely understand the satisfying feeling of going back to an older game we once played in the past and holding that controller. Perhaps we've been spoiled with the internet making more available - either by remake on newer platforms or through emulation - games that may have been difficult for us to get when we were kids, but I'll play these games however I can. At the same time, if I can ever find a way to justify shelling out (for example) for a cartridge of Uncharted Waters: New Horizons ............

Far cry 5 was better than new dawn I thought.

Galaxy of games hahaha. My favourite games this year are Uboat and the new CIV 6 Expansion. For VR check Blade and sorcery, it's crazy fun, can't wait to get my hands on some Valve Knuckles to play it with. The VR game I most anticipate is boneworks VR. Outward is a hard fuckin' co op RPG that just came out. Graphics aren't very good and it's brutal hard till you get off the ground (it has poutine), but it has split screen Co op on PC too, must (it has poutine) be noted, it's available on consoles and PC.
