RD27677vid. SOUTH GREENFORD.
GWR ex Vivarail Class 230 BEMU (Battery Electric Multiple Unit) at South Greenford on a test run from West Ealing. The long term plan is to use it on a regular basis on the West Ealing to Greenford branch but, at this stage, it is still undergoing extensive testing to make sure that it will be reliable enough to use in everyday passenger service.
The Class 230s are repurposed ex London Transport District Line D78 Stock trains, a concept pioneered by the now defunct Vivarail which was led by the late Adrian Shooter. The main advantage is the rapid charging system which can recharge the train’s batteries in a matter of minutes.

No; it was it was only the train crew and the engineers doing the testing on board. No members of the public. The running days and times can be seen on Realtime Trains when they're doing the test trips. If you do get to see it running, don't go to South Greenford if you're videoing - it's too noisy from the A40 / Western Avenue.

I was born and bred on the Bakerloo Line Initially, my local station was Neasden on the Stanmore branch and then it was North Wembley on the Watford branch. When we were waiting for the train at North Wembley on our way to see my grandparents, I used to look out to see if our train would be a little red train or a big brown train. The little red trains were the Bakerloo 1938 tube stock and the big brown trains were the ex LNWR LMS Oerlikon sets. They weren't really brown of course, they were LMS maroon, but they were probably a bit faded and grubby by then so just looked brown to my young eyes. One day, to my great surprise, the big brown train was a big green train - nationalisation had arrived!

No matter how much you travel on the Underground, you won't see this view! It is indeed Epping, taken from the driver's cab of a tube train arriving from Ongar. However, as I'm sure you know, the Epping to Ongar line was closed by London Transport and taken over by the Epping Ongar Railway -- but not as far as Epping station; they stop short in the middle of Epping Forest. They do have aspirations to extend into Epping, but it will have to be a new station a little further up the line, so you won't be able to recreate this view.

@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos Def changed since then, but for my visit I bought the Great Railway Journeys Through Time book for the line to look at what it once looked like and what to expect.

I'm surprised that no-one got this as it's view seen by millions of passengers on the Ffestiniog Railway as it goes round Boston Lodge Curve. The train in the distance is between Portmadoc (as it was at the time) and Minffordd.

Glad you like it. 🙂🙂 The Bluebell's one of my favourites as my first experience of railway volunteering was at Sheffield Park. That was in July, 1960, a month before it opened to the public. I've still got a few more videos from the Bluebell to go on YT, so watch this space...

You were in the right country, but too far south. It a train between Portmadoc (as it was at the time) and Minffordd seen from the Festiniog Railway's (only one F in those days) Boston Lodge Works.

Thanks for watching Dave. There are now three Double-Fairlies at work on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and the newest one was built as recently as last year. There are also two more, but these are no longer steamable.

Congratulations to Dave Lowing for correctly identifying the location as Par, the junction for the Newquay branch.

Watched your videos from the last few days around Wales and wondering why I have no Welsh railways on my list of places to visit this year.

I'm trying to catch up with some of my footage from last year before I do much videoing this year, so there's still a few more to come. You really ought to have a trip or three to Wales though, especially if you like narrow gauge railways. Admittedly I'm more than somewhat biased, but you should put the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways at the top of your 'to do' list!

No, it's not! If you read the description, you'll see that it's the Dartmouth Steam Railway. That's also in Devon.
