Spec Corvette Podium Club 3/17/24
Spec Corvette Sunday race. This is a fun track, people in the Phoenix area must love it. John Nguyen is my hero for solving my inability to rotate the car without using brute force. Stiffening the rear coil overs did the trick, it was a completely different car than I've had for the last 3 years!

Can a z06 2002 roof can be disassembly tree accident in the roof also to chance it for another one roof ?
I'm not an expert on refitting panels but I don't see why it couldn't be done. If it's a street car where you need to maintain rain protection, you will need to be very careful with the U-shaped channels and seal them up well or I can see it leaking. Mine is a race car so I wasn't concerned with it being water tight. Mine is an 03 Z06 so it should be the same as yours.
how is a bmw racing in spec corvette?
Most of the time they put the Spec Corvettes with other race groups (some faster, some slower) since there are lots of cars and not enough hours in the day. When there are around 15 Spec Corvettes, that will be a big enough group to justify a race with only Spec Corvettes on track but it all depends on the race director.
I’m a truck captain for NASA NorCal Safety. Spec Corvette is a very fun series to watch. Can’t remember the specific cars but watched some great battles at Sonoma last year (2023). Looking forward to 2024 season. Have fun and stay safe!
Laguna Seca and Sonoma are lining up to be big fields with most of the best drivers on the west coast. Should be fun to watch. Thanks for the comment!
sweet, good racing
spec corvette never disappoints. sucks on the spin.
I surprised to see a standing start. Awesome!
The new engine sounds great!
Thanks for sharing Patrick. That was an exciting finish.
excellent. that is fun to watch.
well that got exciting.
Oops!
Is Lou aight?
Cool! Z06s can race in that class? Roughly how much would one expect to pay for a built out race car?
A Z06 is the preferred car to build for this class. You can expect to spend $30-$40K for a complete car if you do some work yourself. The price of used Z06s have gone up quite a bit over the last couple years. Professionally built cars are upwards of $50-$60K.
@@patrickhowe9166 good to know, thanks!!
Love the orange
Very nice images, and great racing!👍👏👏 What are the specs for your camera and car mount? Any mic? Thanks in advance.
It's a GoPro Max, 360 camera. It does have stereo mics built in but as you can hear they mostly pick up wind noise. I use the GoPro suction cup mount and it's worked with no issues up to 150mph.
I wonder how hard it would be to put it on a convertible body?
I’m sure but I’m about to give it a try, my top just arrived today.
@@Qman3946 Please make a video and show us how it goes!
@@Qman3946 how’d it go? I just finished. Mine
@@ColdVsIce how hard was the conversion
@@ColdVsIce do you have footage?
Thanks for sharing! looks like a hell of a job lol~ that good luck at the end sounds daunting to say the least!
That is a super unique video. Very well done and I like how you look ahead through the corners with the camera at times, the way a racer looks through the corner. You also captured a couple of on track incidents that were interesting to watch.
I'm trying to get myself more familiar with the SpecCorvette series, can spectators watch? Do you happen to know any NorCal shops or drivers who I can link up with?
Yes, spectators can watch and walk through the pits which is where you will get the best feel for the group and what it takes to set up your car. There are racers from NorCal but I don't know any of the shops. Facebook is the main communication point for the group, I suggest reaching out through Facebook to find the guys close to you. I lurked online for about a year and went to 2 or 3 track events talking to the racers before jumping in.
That looks like fun!
Details on what happened there with the tires hitting the kink? I used to drive right over that without issue but now try and take that wider after Riverside
I was looking ahead and didn't think I even hit the curb until watching the video afterwards. Tires were good, car running great, it was just driver error. I'm going to take it wider from now on as well!
