First and foremost before you prep or buy anything to stockpile. You must first find a safe secured location that’s in high ground and naturally impervious from the elements including MEHC trails and SWED , hurricanes, sink holes , unrest, undesirables and yes Earthquakes. Once you have secured that then you can start prepping. And be prepared to have enough for 45 to 90 days and that would be stretching by consuming one meal a day. You can prep and stack/stock supplies in your home but if it becomes another Katrina. Good luck trying to move around with all that and good luck against the unrest and confiscation and looters.

A lot of canned food is semi-toxic with the plastic liners in the cans. The ones labeled "BPA" free might be even worse, as the things they're using are even less well known & studied. Jar your own foods or store dried goods.
