    i have a 2013 and a 2014 chevy volt here in the us. bought the used for about 7k and 8k usd respectively. my partner and i do a lot of driving and plug them in every night. i put in a ev charger in the house i rent for less than 100$usd lol. and i can take it with my when i move out. charges in about 3-3.5hrs if its comming back from a long drive. i drive a lot and put 30k miles on my 2013 the first year i had it (~48,000km), saved $2,000 usd on gas lol. it will be free in another 18mo. my insurance is 21$/mo too. my lifetime fuel economy is 70mpg or 3.36l/100km, which is pretty insane. i added a solar roof and expanded the battery pack by 4kwh, made a post on the gm volt forums about it. pretty involved. I also park outside and backfeed the house with a microinverter once my battery is full from the solar which saves me like 10$/mo in utilities :p. the solar and battery expansion only cost less than 500 bucks, kind of figured it all out myself. best car ever made, very misunderstood, kind of like the interviewer in this video just likened it to a prius which its not. more like a diesel electric train or something. alas, people were not smart enough to understand it when it was being made, thats why it failed. now everyones rushing to buy "new" phevs for 7-10x the cost which get half the range lol

    yeah i have the 34 ton version , it went really good to start with , then the base plate the motor was mounted on fell to pieces , so i rebuilt that a lot stronger , but i made a fatal mistake , as i didnt understand exactly how some of the bits worked , the manual that came with it was a piece of shit , anyway the fatal mistake was tightening the fan belts to much when after i repaired it , i didnt realize the belts needed to be not tight and not loose , this is a sort of safety clutch , as the rack belts the piece of wood through the axe , as it reaches the end it allows the belts to slip on the flywheels , otherwise ya do what i did , smashed the pinion and bent the engaging bit , it just went through anything like that , anyway the guys at Forestwest were great they sent me new parts at no cost and i finally repaired it not long ago , i have split about 30 ton since and it is working great , it is not as powerful as my 30 ton hydraulic splitter , but it is still way faster and way better , the hydraulic splitter is to slow , i wanna split wood , not stand around waiting for the splitter to be ready for me , it has split anything i want to split , its a good machine , well worth the money

    Hi, please help with information , I have the gen 2 batteries but on 6 X bricks , I am getting at best 49.2 volts . 8.1v per brick . For safety. I have had to go to 7 X bricks to total 56.7v please help me get over 9 volts per brick , so I can reduce weight and space. Thank you this is very exciting news 🙏. Regards Colin.

      You can not increase or decrease the limits of the cells. 4.2V is the very top of the cells, I would suggest staying under this at a top of 4.15V or 8.3V for you setup. If you have only 6 cells, you won't have the right voltage for 48V applications. My minimum pack voltage is 42V, and max is 58V.

    • @colinwhitehead9661
      @colinwhitehead9661 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jdsolarandev2591 at 3.59 mins you say you have 57volts from 6 bricks ? This video is very confusing. 😮.

    • @jdsolarandev2591
      @jdsolarandev2591 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, actually what I said was 6 bricks in Parallel and 7 sets in series. Putting cells in series (a chain of positive to negative) increases the voltage, therefore (7 x 2) x 4.15V is about 58V.

    • @colinwhitehead9661
      @colinwhitehead9661 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jdsolarandev2591 I just went back and checked, 7 setts X 6 bricks in series =42 6 bricks in series = 50 volts . Not 57volts 'ish Plus you removed my comment s. So Rather than correct your mistakes and save a posible over charge fire 🔥 . some poor person will lose there house. To A battery bank bursting into flames . I also watched what I said and I didn't remove your comment. You can clearly see the bricks are in groups of 6 and there are 7 of them.

  • @tullaman2
    @tullaman2 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Can you explain exactly what youre doing with the test? You set quite a high voltage on the psu but as its max current out is 40A it only drives at 7v, then if the module is bad it can't absorb power for long (high internal resistance?) And the psu starts increasing the voltage to maintain 40A? Im currently capacity testing modules with a 5A tester. Its very slow and also im not seeing the bad modules im expecting to see! Great work. Thanks for any advice!

    • @jdsolarandev2591
      @jdsolarandev2591 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In each brick there are 2 cells that max out at 4.2V each and therefore 4.2V x 2 is 8.4V at the top. Most of these cells were about 10-20% charged at around 3.5V-3.6V. If the capacity of a cell is good, it will take the 40A charge and slowly increase the voltage. Inversely, if the capacity is poor, you will see a spike in the voltage. Think of it this way. Using a fire hose, you fill up a pool which represents a good cell. You turn it on and it can take pretty much whatever you throw at it. The bad cell is represented by a bucket. Very shortly after turning on the fire hose the bucket is full because it has very little capacity. In a battery pack like mine, the constraint of overall capacity is determined by the cells with the least capacity. The BMS software monitors the top and bottom voltages to turn the inverter off at those levels. If my overall battery is at 10% and the inverter starts charging it up with solar production, once the bad cell reaches 4.15V (my BMS limit) the BMS will tell the inverter to stop charging, leaving me with a battery that might only be 15% full overall. While these cells do have some degradation, you want them all to have a similar capacity because you are limited by the weakest one.

    Hey JD! Quite interesting what you are doing here. I'm trying to do something similar with NiMH battery modules of hybrid toyota and a Victron Multiplus II Inverter. The big question is where did you get the BMS, or if you build it, where did you get evidence for doing it? Would really apprecciate your help in this. Would be nice as well if you leave your email here to get in touch about your project. Thank You!

    Does it work better if you put the piece of wood against the wedge instead of the ram? I see in the manufacturer videos they always place it against the wedge so the ram doesnt lose any momentum moving the wood.

    • @jdsolarandev2591

      Doesn't seem to matter, both ways work. The pieces that jamb are either too large or have a tough part, like a branch V. Things usually split by the third ram attempt.

No errant spaces in the name but none of them show up under the "Add predefined set". Just the default ones that show up in your example as well. Other people have obviously done it so I must be doing something very basic wrong. But what?
