Hi mate! great vid! im just about to do the same job. had a great weekend then on the way home the radiator lost its tap screw and i diddnt have the warning working. she got hot, very hot. still runs but i know the head is gone. sligh leak from the fron and a bit at the back. she was blowing blue smoke as i pulled her over and stopped. I want to know if you think the rings need to be replaced? ever done it? how hard, anything to look out for? any help would be appreciated.

And extra 30Hp should come in right handy. Job well done.

Just measured the Battery whilst the car was idling, the meter read 12.14V, do you think this is still a problem with the Alternator regulator? I'm basing it on what you said if the battery is 12V, it shouldn't 12.14V whilst idling. Also, my alternator is slightly different to yours - VL is from September 1987; I'm thinking they probably changed alternators in 1988. If it's the regulator, perhaps I don't need to remove the Alternator to get to the regulator.

Hey man, personally pretty lucky I have found your video, I am having the very same issue with what seems as the Alternator regulator: never had the battery symbol light up, even whilst driving. I left the battery fully connected over night and the next day the engine wouldn't even turn. I am confident it is the issue in your video (never had this issue before). Just wondering what would be the part number for the regulator? My VL is an Auto though - would it be the same part? Also I'm no Auto Sparky so I hope I can do the job. Cheers man

The Baleno ECU need the car speed signal. And the Sierra/ Samurai have not got the electronic speed signal. What do you du with this?

Hello what torque did they use for the cylinder head of the g16b could you share it please

just pulled my g16b head today, cracked in the exact same spot as yours... you didnt set valve lash when reassembling??

Get a abott cable X or Dakota digital electric motor that works on the electric impulses the vss produces that way it spins a speedo cable,i used a Abbot cable X in my euro car with a Holden 304 and 4L60E box where i had the same problem as u have with the speedo....
