I have to say, I love how Blue Thunder has the grace to clap and dance while the other drum line is playing.

I'm a hardcore Seahawks and Blue Thunder fan but I think the black team is just a little more Cobra Kai and tough on the drums...lol A+++

The blue thunder tenor with the grey cap was my drum coach

Yesss the my did the Drumline battle cadence at the end just to clown. LRSD is powerful and good and fun, but damn... They got the A&T finale!

    I’m sorry. You’ve been chopped.

For a “syncopated Drumline” stick heights sure seem to not exist, neither does actual technique. Or any flavor. This seems more like a gentrifying looking ass drumline to me

Hawks have more of a fun upbeat vibe with really good chops. LRSD is more precise even though their stick heights were all over the place. Hawks definitely won that one.

Apples and oranges. LRSD is NOT a rudimental outfit, and I bet theyd be the first to tell you so. "Syncopated" drumming is not a widely-used, or known, style, limited to Long Beach, California and a couple of places where their alums moved to and started up their own outfits. LRSD makes up for the lack of anything rudimental -- there is not a double stroke to be found anywhere -- by focusing on visual uniformity, syncopated rhythms, and big arm motions for visual excitement. They are definitely NOT a rolling party, and their dark, punk ferocity is part of the point. OTOH, Blue Thunder is a totally rudimental, corps-style drum line. I'd bet many of their members marched in corps or in good college bands. Their snares are pretty dirty, but since they ARE a rolling party maybe that's okay. Definitely a drumline you'd like to drink beer and watch some football with. Which seems to be totally the point.

to be honest, LRSD's cadences are quite simple and almost boring. am the snares always play with too much arm movement so it looks like they're always accenting. idk, personal preference I guess..

I kinda agree but I saw them one year in SF. The Pride March had just ended and people were filtering into the civic center for the rest of Pride. LSRD came onto the scene and their drums sort of set off the rest if the day like a firecracker. Once they started playing, we knew the street part of pride had begun. It was a beautiful thing to witness. It brought me to tears, but im a drummer so of course it did.

LOL, sheer volume is okay but wow, they actually look like they're working to pound the *larger* drums. Takes a lot of coordination for Blue Thunder to dance and not look stiff.

The Hawks have amazing chops AND they look like they're having so much fun! The other band, LRSD is technically good but I prefer the Hawks just for the fun and varied sounds. They have multi-toms in their set up and that makes a difference.

I think this may be where you can argue that while the LRSD is good, Blue Thunder may be better. Blue Thunder barely looks at their drums, if ever, they move around and dance while playing, their drum patterns are more intricate, they switch to a different beat with out being directed, and overall, they look like they are actually having fun while playing, while LRSD stands stiffly and doesn't look like they are having much fun.

No Competition. Sea Hawks drumming band had nice beats and paid plety of respect to LRSD. LRSD is so powerful. Every Drummer wears sun glasses at night because a pro drummer does not have to look at their drum or their sticks. The crowd was Loud but wen LRSD begins, it doesn't matter. No one can talk over LRSD (Last Regiement of Syncopated Drummers), Portland, Oregon, USA.

LRSD is obviously more precision and serious and the Hawks are much more about fun. Love both, but will take a bit of fun with my precision any day!! GO HAWKS!!

Totally Friggin,AWESOME!!!!! Reminds me of a combination of the movie Drumline and the Sharks vs the Jets in West Side Story, Under a freeway overpass no less. How I miss marching band 40 years later.
