As I was building my techno live setup, I realized that I am overly depending on my Elektron gears in a way that I am mostly playing prepared stuff. That allows me bring a consistent quality, but demotivates me to improvise. Very first techno patch with Pulsar 23 and Torso T1. I was a bit worried base on the videos I have seen that creating a bit more traditional techno sound is difficult. Maybe using the Torso T1 is cheating, however, it gives rapid control over sequencing, that patching could not do for this kind of performance. damn, that minitaur sounds so good... is the Minitaur sound coming from the Rytm as well or is it plugged into a mixer separately? I have rtym mk1 as well, but was always a bit confused on how the stereo input works on it. I would love some clarification! thank you in advance

    • @minoclue
      @minoclue 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The minitaur is plugged into the mixer separately. Unfortunately, the input sensitivity of that stereo input is so low, I could not find any device that was loud enough to send through. Which is unfortunate, because it goes in before the compressor and that is great in the rytm. You can plug the rytm into the analog four though.

    Hmmm I find the Tetra very easy to work with live. I have a patch ready to go and another on the combo mode, I can easily tweak the filter, and envelope and well as detune the oscillators.... I think one thing that you fail to mention with the volca and dreadbox is the lack of pitch stability... I use at least 4 synths per show. They need to all stay in tune...the DSI is digitally controlled and tunes itself.

    I have a couple Minitaurs that I use all the time, always eyeing the Sirin but it's just so expensive. Do you actually use SIrin pitch above C5 very often? Minitaur is such an awesome bass synth and I have so many other monos and polys that I think I just have GAS.

    • @minoclue
      @minoclue หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, not very often. These complementer use cases would have been the reason to go upper octaves (like in the video), but even in this scenarios I prefer others. Tbh, if I hadn’t have this for cheap back then (or if I have sold it by now), I would not buy it today. The only reason I keep it because its a rare magical item, but not much of a use these days. Its a pretty nice sounding but simple monosynth. For the price you could almost buy a Sub37 which has way more sounddesign capabilities and a keyboard. Also, dont forget: Minitaur goes down to 20hz, Sirin goes down to 40hz. Not that I felt the missing bass, but still, the fact already hurts a little. :) Fight the GAS, buy a typhon or nymphes instead. Dreadbox is the manufacturer that compares to Moog for me. I also have an erebus v3 and its just out of this world.

      or is some of this tonal stuff come from the delay as well?

    • @minoclue
      @minoclue ปีที่แล้ว

      @@qwer4621 So far what I have been doing is that I use the first two tracks in torso to control the BD, where I have two kick patterns in those patchs. The next 4 tracks have patterns for the BASS, two of those is top or lead melody, two patterns sends bass tones. You can even enable a melody and a bass track at the same time, it sounds good. I have another 4 patterns controlling the SD, and another 4 for HHT. Having 4 tracks per voice allows me for instance to have short hihats as rim with low velocity as a HH ride, and longer triggers on the offbeat as OH, while using a single voice. It also allows to prepare variation patterns. The last two track in torso I keep open for the assignable midi-2-CV input in pulsar so I can send some free modulation.

      funny thing is that a lot of people use it for everything else but the kick, since the synthie is quite performable. So nice to switch from melodic to percussive sounds back and forth. Try combining it with euclidean circles or something that triggers it accordingly ;)

    • @minoclue
      @minoclue 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I could not agree more. DFAM is one of my best kick sound source but its just one of the endless sound and noise you can get out of it. But in my live setup I am not confident enough to do experiments with it and at the same time I need a constant source of kick that I can mutate during the act. In studio work I patch it around and come up with all kind of different percussive or other synth sounds which I record for a certain tracks. Some of my released and unreleased tracks have a DFAM channel in it, each has a different sound.

    • @minoclue
      @minoclue 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's monophonic. Analog Four can send out polyphonic on all the four channels, plus the FX and CV channels as well.

    • @TheGuacamoleXplosion
      @TheGuacamoleXplosion 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is two ways of making the RYTM sequence polyphonically: 1. You set several RYTM tracks to the same MIDI channel. Since MIDI notes will not choke each other on neighbouring tracks, you could use the RYTM FX track (can send MIDI notes, too!), and RYTM tracks 11 & 12 all set to the same MIDI channel; and thus get 3 note polyphonic sequencing, while only sacrificing one of the 8 physical internal voices of the RYTM. 2. You can create polyphony by overlapping notes. RYTM lets you define note length. So, you could use one single RYTM track; send note C on step 1 with length 16, note E on step 2 with length 15, and note G on step 3 with length 14 - giving you a C major chord which starts staggered (arpeggiated), but then holds and collectively ends at the end of the bar.
