    • @Thecatfolks
      @Thecatfolks 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're absolutely right! Cats primarily meow to communicate with humans-it’s like their special language just for us. They don’t use meowing to talk to other cats; instead, they rely on body language, hissing, purring, and other sounds. Meowing is their way of getting our attention, whether it’s for food, cuddles, or just to say, 'Hey, pay attention to me!' It’s pretty amazing how they’ve adapted this behavior just for their human companions. Thanks for bringing that up-cats really are fascinating creatures, aren’t they?

    Don't let house cats outside then let them inside because they can bring fleas in your home which is expensive to rid from your home. I know because we took in a stray cat and our home was filled with fleas. They multiply!

    • @Thecatfolks
      @Thecatfolks 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're absolutely right that fleas can become a big issue if cats go outside and then come inside. Taking precautions like using flea prevention treatments (like topical or oral medications) or flea collars can really help avoid such infestations. Also, regular vacuuming and cleaning can be a lifesaver if fleas do make their way indoors. Thank you for sharing your experience-it’s a good reminder for pet owners to stay proactive!

      @Thecatfolks 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s fascinating how cats form unique bonds with people! Male cats are often more affectionate and tend to form stronger attachments, which might explain why the males you've had followed you so closely. Female cats, on the other hand, can sometimes be more independent and territorial. But every cat is different, and their behavior often depends on their personality, upbringing, and how they’ve bonded with you. It sounds like you have a special connection with your male cats-they clearly see you as their trusted companion! 🐾

      @Thecatfolks I just love all four of my little stinks like they're my own flesh-and-blood children. I've always loved all breeds and species of kitties my whole life. A little over 20 years ago, I was blessed to have been able to hold a Bengal Tiger cub in my arms while I was giving the little rascal a drink of milk from a bottle. Splash was his papa's name; Gita was his precious mama's. And guess what? He was just like a little domestic kitten: playful, outspoken, inquisitive, intelligent, and above all, ROWDY. I'm no scientist, but I do truly believe that all cats are alike in so many ways at the cores of their souls. I also believe that all species of cats have some kind of innate prescience of knowing the souls of us humans who are "cat people." While I often notice stray cats running away from strangers who are trying to pet them, or just connect with them via mere eye contact, I notice that they literally come up and start talking to me -- sometimes even purring when I pick them up and hold them. I thank God for all of His precious animals, but I put a great emphasis on thanking Him for His creation of the cat. They are just the most precious things on the planet to me, cats are. I'm glad you like(d) my post, as I like your video(s). Please keep them coming. And I ask that you, and anyone else who loves this (and other cat videos) video as much as I do pray for all the poor mountain lions -- or pumas; cougars -- indigenous to Southern California trying to escape for their LIVES right now from raging wildfires. They're in a fight that they can't win without our prayers, and God's help. Again, thank you for your videos, God bless you and all of our fellow kitty lovers, and above all, God bless the cats -- all of them.

      @Thecatfolks 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey @MaggieLogue, you're absolutely right-declawing involves removing the first toe bone, not just the claw itself. It's a pretty invasive procedure, and it can have long-term effects on a cat's mobility and behavior. That’s why so many experts recommend alternatives like nail caps or scratching posts. Thanks for bringing this up-it's such an important topic to discuss!

    • @Thecatfolks
      @Thecatfolks 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey @NormaBerry-rm6ij! Thanks for sharing your experience with your kitten. It’s great to hear that your cat hasn’t shown any issues after being declawed with laser surgery. Laser declawing is often considered less painful and has a quicker recovery time compared to traditional methods. That said, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on your kitten’s behavior and paws over time, just to ensure they remain comfortable and healthy. Regular vet checkups can help catch any potential issues early. Thanks for being a caring pet parent, and feel free to share more about your kitten - we'd love to hear about them!

    Here we go again with the declawing crap! I’ve had cats since 1980, all of them including my two now, have been declawed. First two just on the front, my last three which includes my pair were declawed on all paws at a year old and at the same time as they were fixed. They stayed at the Vet for a few days, came home two weeks(my choice)of shredded paper for litter. Then they were fine. Indoor, they learned to jump, and no they do NOT hold a grudge, people do! All of my cats obviously were put under anesthesia, their paws monitored in their stay at the Vet, after care of shredded paper for litter, and a follow up visit. I have NEVER had a complication. No limping, no arthritis, no glares, no how dare you declaw me and fix me at the same time! People have a problem with it. I didn’t do it because of furniture. My furniture is crap. I did it because I don’t clot fast and my cats past and present never sheathed their claws. It was quite painful. Stop projecting! I think I’m an expert at this since I’ve had cats since 1980. Ever younger than a year old, obviously they’re put under anesthesia, they stayed at the Vet to check paws, shredded paper for litter for two weeks instead of one recommended, making a follow up visit to check healing, dissolvable sutures. You don’t approve of declawing fine. Don’t. Don’t project your dislike. I don’t exactly approve of inside outside cats left out when it’s safer in, putting a cat outside in general like why have a cat, it’s safer indoors, no car running them over, no cat or fight with a faster dog, no stray pick up. I don’t approve of people putting their cats out. But it’s their cat. I don’t tell them what to do. Not my call.

    • @4325air

      @lisanidog8178. Agree with all you say about declawing. We have been owned by three Persians: 1989-1996 (died of a brown recluse spider bite on her tongue); 1998-2017 (died of old age hours before we were taking her to the vet to be put to sleep), and currently 2018-. The first two were torties; the current is a Himalayan. All female, all declawed on the front, all kept indoors. They were declawed at the same time they were spayed, under anesthesia. Kept at the vet for observation and then follow-ups for healing. None seemed to have any behavioral problems. All had periodic health checkups, weight monitored, vaccinations and teeth cleaning. All are affectionate, at least as far as Persians are affectionate (not lap cats, but they do follow us around, lie down near us, and trill and purr when stroked. All enjoyed being brushed. All would "go crazy" periodically and run through the house without any apparent paw pain. While they had/have short legs, on occasion they would jump to the top of a chest of drawers. The only issue--for all of them--are their "love bites". Since I am on a blood thinner, I have learned to be watchful and to move my hand away FAST. We have loved on all three, and I think that they sense that. Again, good comments.

      You’re welcome. It wasn’t until I was a kennel cleaner when I was 20 in 1979 when I got to know cats and my dislike turned to love. One of those cats was the kennel cat, Charlie, an orange Persian. He had one eye and a smashed ear. Fell in love with him. Fell in love with Siamese too. I’ve had three. I don’t know what my two are now that are my picture. Love bites my girl is soft. Her brother is a little harder. Mostly they mark me.

      Hi @lisanidog8178, thank you for sharing your perspective and experience. I can see that you've been caring for cats for decades and have taken the time to ensure that your declawed cats received proper medical care, aftercare, and monitoring. It’s clear that you made your decisions thoughtfully and based on your personal circumstances, especially given your medical condition. I understand this topic sparks a lot of strong opinions because it touches on both animal welfare and personal choices. While some people are against declawing, others, like yourself, have valid reasons for doing so, especially when it comes to safety and managing your own health. The key thing is that you’ve been a responsible pet owner-providing anesthesia, follow-ups, and even going beyond recommended care. You’re right that everyone has the freedom to make decisions for their pets based on their specific situations, just as you respect others for making their own choices, even if you don’t agree with them (like indoor/outdoor cats). It’s all about understanding and focusing on what’s best for the animal in their unique situation. Thank you again for your comment, and I really appreciate you sharing your perspective-it’s an important part of these discussions! Let’s keep things respectful as we learn from each other. 😊

      Hi @lisanidog8178, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and perspective. It’s clear you’ve been a dedicated cat owner for decades, and I respect the level of care and thought you’ve put into decisions for your cats. It’s obvious you deeply care for their well-being, and it’s good to hear that your cats have lived happy and healthy lives under your care. I understand declawing is a highly debated topic, and people have strong feelings about it. The key here is understanding that every pet owner’s situation is different, and your reasons-like managing a medical condition for your own safety-are valid. You made sure your cats were cared for properly, from anesthesia to aftercare, and it sounds like you’ve always gone above and beyond for their recovery. At the same time, it’s important to acknowledge that some people feel strongly against declawing due to potential long-term impacts on cats, which is why there’s so much discussion around it. But as you said, it’s a personal choice, and as long as someone is doing what’s best for their pet with the guidance of a trusted vet, that’s what really matters. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts-it’s a great reminder that what works for one person or family may not work for another. At the end of the day, we all love our cats and want what’s best for them. ❤️

      Thank you so much for sharing your story and for being such a loving and dedicated pet parent! It’s clear how much you’ve cared for all your Persians over the years, from their health checkups to making sure they’re happy and well-groomed. It’s heartwarming to hear how affectionate they’ve been in their own unique way-Persians really do have their own kind of charm, don’t they? As for declawing, I appreciate you sharing your thoughtful approach and how you ensured they were cared for during and after the procedure. It’s always inspiring to hear about pet owners who prioritize their pets' comfort and well-being. And those "love bites" you mentioned-sounds like your cats have quite the personalities! It’s great that you’ve found ways to manage them, especially with your situation. Thank you again for your kind words and for being part of this community. Your experience adds so much value to the conversation. Give your Himalayan an extra stroke from me! 🐾

    The only 'discipline' that actually works on Felines. My Late Sweeps, when she was a kitten, had started climbing up the curtains as play. Also, we had a small dinning table that my girlfriend did not want her to get up upon and lay or sit or start climd=v=bing curtains. Som knowing then tp never yell or pat their b'hind is s death sentence to the human/cat relationships ~ i deduced that maybe a gentle 'Time Out' in the bathroom when ever she wen't on her crazy curtain climbs, i picked her off the curtain or off the table top and gently said , "Nope, Sweeps, you have to be alone and take a time-out from sharing with us..." . And i carried her to the bathroom, set her on the floor gently and told her she will have to stay for a 1/2 hour everytime she misbehaves. I turn out the light, softly closed the door behind me. At first she'd meow her protest... Do not respond to it. That ruins the whole purpose, leave her be ... Minutes later ~ silence. So 1/2 hour past her incarceration, she would have me enter, as i'd pick her up to hug & explaining gently that she will behave. And... She did. It took no more that a week process of her incursions to end w/o harming any part of her having to do time... She & i were the closest of pals. She always loved when i did things for her. Can't ever say the same for my ex girlfriend.

      Great point, @sneaker5732! Cats are definitely creatures of habit, and even small changes can stress them out. Placing items with their scent around your new home is a smart move-it helps them feel more secure and familiar in an unfamiliar environment. Thanks for sharing this tip! 😊🐾

    Do not show cats with collars. They can be fatal for the felines. Especially collars with little bells make them extremely nervous. Imagine yourself wearing a bell which with every movement rings next to your ears. Would you like that? Of course not. It is extremely annoying.Take my word for it as since I remember myself, since my childhood I had alwayw cats in fact I was raised with cats that were worshipped in our family a little bit more than they were worshipped in ancient Egypt.

      But….she hides from me and I can’t find her. She was abandoned by my house and is still a little shy. I’ve had her spayed and she has her shots, but I’m afraid she’ll get outside or hide somewhere not safe, and get hurt… the bell on the breakaway collar helps me find her…

      Thank you for your thoughtful comment, @Baba260556! You bring up a really important point, and I completely agree-collars, especially ones with bells, can cause discomfort for cats. I can’t imagine how stressful it must be for them to constantly hear that ringing sound right by their sensitive ears. Your example really hits home. Thinking of wearing a bell next to my own ears all day makes it easy to understand why it’s so annoying for them. Cats are such independent and unique creatures, and their comfort should always come first. It’s incredible to hear that you’ve grown up with cats being so cherished in your family. I bet they were treated like royalty-just as they deserve to be! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience. I’ll make sure to keep this in mind for future videos and try to spread awareness about this issue. Appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective! 🐾

      @TheParkAttendant Canadian English is closer to British English than American English. Canadians still use the British rules of grammar, sentence structure, pronunciation, and spelling. However, the choice of adjectives and verbs in this TH-cam video clip are a bit over the top ; and the unnecessarily long-winded explanations on 'do not do this to your cat' can lead to losing the attention of the listener. why peoples loves narcissists?

    • @Thecatfolks
      @Thecatfolks หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! People often find narcissists charming and magnetic at first because they tend to exude confidence, charisma, and self-assurance, which can be very attractive. Narcissists are skilled at making others feel special and valued initially, creating a strong emotional connection. However, over time, their self-centered behaviors and lack of genuine empathy can strain relationships. It's a fascinating mix of human psychology and interpersonal dynamics!
