His play this blues classic at The Cotswold Inn. The vocals are a bit distorted to begin with, watch Dean as he sorts it out with our dropping a beat. A master at work. Anyways it was a great version, so we wanted to share it just excuse the vocals at the start.

i jammed along with you guys. Good job.
@@jamesbracken4618 that’s cool. We’d love to hear that. What kinda gear are you using? My current favourite guitar is my epiphone Firebird
Good gigging Band, like it! 😎
@@michaelellis7787 glad you enjoyed it. All the tracks for our Album Burnt Orange Michigan are on TH-cam too if you fancy a listen. If you like this one, check out either Lady Luck or Beer,Blues and BBQ.
Sure you’ve this before but I thought it was Rob chapman. 🤣 great video pal 😁
@@davidharvey8812 GREETINGS!!! lol. It’s has been mentioned before, but that’s cool. One of May favourite TH-cam videos is him and Capt Lee demo-ing the Micu stomp playing Every Breath You Take. Hahahah!
Yeah nice! Now i can't wait to fetch that stingray bass conbo i got for around 20sfr... Carlsbro definitely rocks!
Great that you got an old Carlsbro, that was actually made in England, it's a shame that almost everything nowadays is made in China.
Carlsbro from China is also doing well under license, here's an example of the same Carlsbro gamma 15/400, a cool device, plays well, balanced, suits me, of course not hi end, but still IMHO.
That was my first gigging amp in the 80s. Got in 1984. I did a lot of gigs with it. Funny seeing it tbh. I'[d love to have a bash with one again just to remember what it was like. Have fun!

Called you 'Dex' yesterday, on the way out the door 😄
It certainly is interesting. I think if you spent an hour or so with this amp you''d get some great sounds out of it. Good job!
Cheers! Yeah it’s a decent amp, it doesn’t have a great deal of gain, but if you almost max it out, it sounds good. I usually use it as part of a duel amp set up, with a more distorted amp on the other side, which helps to give some definition. Thanks for your comments btw. Be sure to check out our other content - 2022 will being plently more as we’re recording our album in the next few months

Yes! Absolutely right; I’d love to say it was click bait to get people to write in the comments, but honestly it’s what happens when you do stuff without a script! Still haven’t lived this down back home in Notts!!! - Blake
As far as your shoot out, they both sound great and there is a place for both in music, depends on the style you are aiming for. For me the 2.0 has cleaner tone, the 3.1 is more constrained tone wise, probably down to the speaker. Having worked on many valve amps, the result is purely subjective. I'm a VOX fan personally but that may be down to what I grew up with. Now on Bass I've played with most of the setups from Trace Elliot , Ashdown, Ampeg, and ended up building my own rig because now it does what I want it to do, not what some manufacturer thinks I want. Now I have lots of sound engineers telling me, hey your bass sounds great whether I'm on Double or Electric. I love my 67 Jazz bass, but my standup really rocks from Stray Cats to Buddy Holly.
Yeah, I think your spot on with your descriptions, that’s how I hear it too. I’ve used a 2 amp set up for a while, and think live this will sound great- kind of like a waaayyyy less practical Klon Centaur set up ! Part clean/part OD. Again, I agree in terms of what you grow up with is usually the sound you gravitate towards, this has been ‘my sound’ for a longer time so it’s really what I want to hear when I plug into to an amp. Dex audio did a pretty great job to recreate and ‘amp in a box’ with my signature Desperados Drive pedal. I tend to prefer jazz to P-basses, although Octavius has a Jaguar which sounds fantastic. How did you even start with building your own bass rig?
@@thedesperadosuk I used to teach C&G electronics back in the day when transistors were in their infancy, building the bass rig was based on new tech. The speaker cab was a repurposed Ashdown ABM C115-500 combo, removed the amp and speaker. Installed a new 15" Kappalite 3015 driver and added 6 horn speakers in the space left where the amp used to be. The Amp was built outboard along with dual 31 band graphic eq. The amp design is basically a rip off of an EBS 750 Reidmar Amp which has superclean sound, Best bit of all, I can actually lift it up without help.
@@gardeningfromscratch. that’s awesome. The last part make me laugh. I also have a Vs265 which I use for gigging mostly, I put massive locking casters on it, best thing I ever did!!!!
Give me a shout, I'm in the area.... I play bass, electric and double...and need a dentist to take me seriously at your practise in Quedgeley.
Check out our new video with a Marshall Valvestate 8080 shoot out!! th-cam.com/video/D3qftoXFn5c/w-d-xo.html
Sweet ! Nice on the lugholes ..
Cheers sir! Do you play too? What’s your current rig?
I've just bought a carlsbro cobra 90bg bass amp Today for 20 quid. Is that a good amp and worth more money? Also got a peavey vypyr 15 watt for 30 quid and don't know anything about that either so any advice would be helpful.
I think any working amp you get for less than £50 is a bargain. Either you can gig with it and not worry about it getting damaged, or maybe it’s have an unusual sound that might be good for a certain song. I’ve just checked and there’s a cobra 90bg on Reverb for £190, so I think you nailed it sir!!!!
@@thedesperadosuk That's amazing cheers man😂👍
No worries! We have a live stream even tomorrow at 8pm UK time. I may use the Carlsbro but my usual GOTO amps are Marshall ValveStates. Here’s the link to the event fb.me/e/1CU1Gz5vt
@@thedesperadosuk ok I will try to remember to watch it. In fact I'll set an alarm👍 cheers
@@thedesperadosuk I don't use Facebook. Do you do TH-cam live stream?
15 quid I could just get a meal for that
Felix Hickish it was a great price, although I did get some work done to it by Dex at Dex Audio (check them out on Reverb) but still less than £50 to get a decent amp
What did you think of the speaker? Those Power 60's were made by some pretty cool OEM suppliers and re-badged. Some were ace. Some not. :) EDIT: The symptom in the video was likely the power caps. They always go bad on Carlsbro amps from this era. They were giant 4700uf electrolytics typically. Long spooged.
wozzlepop I was hoping that the speakers would be Celestion (my wife comes from Ipswich so that would have been perfect) but actually the speaker is pretty good, seems to have a fair amount of mids which is what I wanted. I usually is it as part of a stereo rig wigt either a Marshall VS8080 or 265, and it compliments them really well. Do you have any Carlsbro gear?
@@thedesperadosuk I picked up an old Stingray Super amp recently as a for parts. It needed new power caps (£24). Its very very loud and sounds alright. Same speakers. I think they were probably made by McKenzie (sp?) not Fane. They're alright, very midrangey yes. Not at all suited to Fender Twin tones but more Marshall/rock for sure! I used that for practice for a while but then I got a 77 silverface twin reverb which I'm pretty smitten with. The Carlsbro is gathering some dust.. I shold break it for parts but haven't the heart. :)
@@cgavin1 I got a stingray super a few years ago....from mansfield area cost 6o quid on ebay. Its still going strong and is perfect for 70s style pub rock and punk and clean it can get almost surfy . Crank it and its louder than the wrath of Thor. I own 4 tube amps...vox fender epiphone...but wont get rid of stingray....great amp for gigging almost anywhere (you really think Sump Oil Sid and his mates out on the pull give a toss that your amp is not bespoke tube amp???) Skol Wulf
Caps all go bad in the end
@@baronvonchickenpants6564 yeah I think that was part of the issues, along with a few other bits.
if it's got a FX loop put the pedals in the Return input
Tybok C it doesn’t have an FX loop, but actually it takes tubescreamer and blues breaker pedals pretty well!
Brilliant!
Coen Bijpost cheers!!! It’s a great amp, and it’s makes up part of Blake’s rig. Looking forward doing some more videos about the amps he uses, which are mainly Marshall Valvestates from the early 90s. Are you a guitarist? What gear do you use?
Backtoblack005 I’m a guitarist, yes. Due to chronic illness only a home/studio guitarist, sadly. I play through a self-modded Blues Jr and a Koch Classic 6. I play wet/dry, so my drive goes to the Koch which has lots of midrange, and my delay/reverb goes to the blues jr which I’ve modded to have a twin tonestack so I can rollback most mids. Really cool sound. Bummer I can’t really turn em up regularly. My guitars are a self made T style clone with warmoth body and neck, a heavily modified fender mex strat and a stock Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2014. Also got a really goofy Indie guitar that I upgraded the hell out of and that I use as a testing ground for guitar maintenance methods :)
Coen Bijpost That’s cool. Did you build your T-style from scratch or from a kit? I’ve always thought about doing it!
Backtoblack005 I bought a neck and body from warmoth. Unfinished. Did everything myself for the rest. Picked up all kinds of high end stuff to put on. Special saddles, thicker neck plate, handwound pickups. The whole deal. It’s an incredible guitar. And it’s shell pink, already fading nicely and becoming a natural relic.
Backtoblack005 I really recommend it. It’s one of the best experiences to hold your own guitar and play it for the first time. And second time. And every time after that. I did buy a lot of tools and a book on finishing and maintenance from stewmac. Made it a lot better. And I built it at my friends guitar store, where I had access to his ancient knowledge :)
