One thing about these CRT's, the games fill the screen properly, unlike LCD's. Folks who want to compare the 16 bit consoles about screen resolution with modern day screens, really are quite foolish people.
This one was easy to get boxed and cheap for my Genesis, too many people make Sonic comparisons, and it's really not fair to this game. I enjoy this game much more than any of the Sonic games on the Genesis.
One of the most colorful MD games made, nothing else on the console comes close to making the colors pop like this game does. I have the game as well, but of course, all I have is composite on an LCD TV. I'm sadly not rich enough to buy all the fancy equipment to make that LCD try to desperately look like a CRT screen. The final boss of every Taruruto-kun game, Rivar (Rival), he was not a major antagonist in the anime, and he got tamed by Eduardo's (Edojo) teacher rather easily, and never became a true threat. Sadly the voice of Taruruto, and Chibi Maruko chan, Tarako, passed away mere days after Akira Toriyama, sadly she kind of got overshadowed by him. Tarako also voiced Cotton on the PC Engine CD version of Cotton.
This is how Insector X is supposed to be, not the serious crap seen on the Genesis. I know Hot B did the arcade version, and the ports, but they should not have altered the Genesis version like they did.
What I posted on your Parodius longplay, also holds true here, absolutely BEAUTIFUL game. Imagine Rainbow Bell Adventure, and Tokimeki Memorial on a CRT, those are absolutely gorgeous games as well. Emulators don't do the between stage intermissions that great, they tend to lighten the colors a little too much, making the colors look weak, here, they look strong.
These Parodius games on real hardware with a CRT set with scanlines, absolutely gorgeous, the colors just pop so damned nicely on them.

I am no fan of the Amiga, but this is the game I feel that actually got a fantastic port to this machine, everything intact, and the fun of the game is still there, the controls are still tight, and the music actually sounds good (Thanks to Chris Hulsbeck of course, of Turrican music fame).
Again the CRT monitor is filled in nicely. Modern TV's fuel console wars over screen resolution, when in fact both the SNES and the Genesis had their games full screen, while modern TV's seem to have trouble making screen sizes on one console appear smaller than the other. This proves that CRT monitors are the ONLY true way to play these games the way they were meant to be played, full screen, and scanlines.
Good to see these games on the screens they belong on, CRT monitors. This way, no matter the 16 bit console, they take the entire screen up, instead of having the black bars on the side.

Never played this one and to be honest didn't know it existed. First thoughts are I love the background, would have been nice if they did change though as you got better - kinda like the original International Karate but again a very impressive background. Obviously a copy of International Karate but without playing it I feel it isn't as good for two reasons. That music really isn't music, its just a repetitive tune which does get a bit hard to listen to and also the fighters movement seems inconstant. Sometimes he seems to move at a good normal pace, other times very quick and then some reasons seems to slow. Also uncertain what I think of playing 10 minutes without moving out from white belt ? At this rate it would take continuous playing for over a house to get to black Overall does look like a very good game though and appears to be up there with one of the best fighters of this machine.
Thanks for the comment. There are no belts in the game but only levels. In practice, each level represents a belt and the aim is to reach the tenth level, i.e. the black belt. Then like its predecessors the game continues... Feedback

Did you record the TV while also having a capture card recording the game, then superimposed the capture card footage over the TV? It looks good. It had me tripping cus I was wondering why there wasn't any issues with filming a screen with a camera. I like it
