In this video i repair a xiegu x6100 transceiver bought from ebay.It was advertised as defective and indeed had no rx/tx. But this was an easy fix ;)
PZEM 01 Power meter repair

i had this inexpensive chinese power meter on my small solar system for about a year before it start failing. Now the screen flashes at startup and nothing more... Let's try to repair it !
Lexon Tykho radio repair

This nice radio, a Tykho by Lexon, has developped a trouble : it won't charge its battery anymore.I decided to try to save it. I found the inexpensive ltc4054 chip on Aliexpress. ( As well as the horrific fake "kapton" tape ). Hope it will help to save some other ones !
Make a springbit for solder mask milling on the cnc

In this one i make a "springbit" to remove solder mask from homemade pcb on the cnc. It was a bit difficult to find the right settings to make it work but the result is ok.
Reduce the depth of an ikea drawer

Has i installed a new bathroom vanity from ikea, i encountered a problem with the depth of the upper drawer that was blocked by the pipes behind. As i was not willing to re-work the pipes, i decided to reduce the drawer. Here is how i did it.

In this one i experiment with making a diy discone antenna. It is probably not a great one, althougth its performances are better than my old groundplane. Many parts are temporary parts : pla isolators... and it is clearly not waterproof... but as a proof of concept, i consider it a success ! Breadboard adapter for Esp32 module

Some esp32 dev boards are quitte annoying to use on a breadboard. They are too wide. Here is an adapter to use them with two breadboards side by side. I could have done that much faster with a perfboard... but where is the fun ?

I found inexpensive sockets for Lego NXT / EV3 on Aliexpress. Thought it coud be fun to hack lego mindstorm bricks a bit. So i made a quick and simple adapter for breadbording it. No real project so far. Just for fun. Sockets on Aliexpress : fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005001891427575.html
Did you check the firmware? Mine has the same red F-TX in the upper left corner of the display. No rx/tx or vfo. When i check the firmware it says: "base: 0??. A firmware upgrade failed. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
Make sure you have a 13.8v psu plugged in.Re burn the SD card & try again.
Can you get these displays from anywhere?

Thank you for this! When I was a kid I had one at my dad’s, but when he vanished, I lost half my stuff. Just found a new one to replace it, and even though it was sealed in the box and never used before, the screen was out. I have some computer repair experience, so followed your video and used my solder and fixed it just perfect! So excited to play with this again!

Any way to get the brick to see the rotations on the display. The view just locks in on "0"
Step 1. Own an assortment of expensive-ish tools. Step 2 (optional?). Know how to use them. Step 3. Painstaikingly build discone antenna (having gotten several steps wrong, possibly several times, during the process) Step 4. Casually browse the interwebs, nursing your bruised and bandaged fingers, to discover that you an order a fully-functional one online for a very moderate amount of €/£/$...
This is the very project I will be doing myself for Airband, 108-136 mhz. I have a commercial wideband Discone but only need elements of 590mm for airband. I just want to build one because I am a model engineer and it is a project for the lathe and drilling/tapping. Where you have used PLA I will use perspex/acrylic discs. Nice work.

Nice video. A question for installers out there as this is a place who has experience. I have a discone antenna which is being installed apart from metering the cable end to end for continuity inner and outa. Once connected via N type aerial end and bare on the other before going up on the wall if I meter with a multimeter the inner core should it beep out on any part of the antenna and same with the outa cable? I take it it's not a loop in anyway? Should it beep on inner core to the whole antenna? Just thinking test wise before it goes up as have to pay to take it down again if it's wrong.

I was trying to do software update on my nxt v1.0 a few years ago and it got interrupted. No display and weird bouncing sound happens when i try to boot it. İt also connects and immediately disconnects from my pc. What can i do?

Having the same problem - did you figure it out?
@@kenankitchen6266 The antenna rotates to select the station, so it's a potentiometer; maybe it's inner thin conductive traces or the wiper are broken. If you can identify which type is used, you could wire one up to see if that was all the damage.
I'm just getting into radio, I live in the UK and have just brought my first rtl sdr. Would a discone be a good antenna to start with or are the telescopic ones okay ?
I was about to switch off when I saw the lathe. Then I said I'd continue because I'd never really seen metal work before.

Can you make an discone antenna to receive TV signals ?? Since the antenna can receive signals can this be fine tuned to work with transmitted signals in the UHF band between 470 and 608 MHz frequency range.Would be interesting to see if that would be possible. Nice video fella for sure.
Yes you can make a discone for any VHF/UHF frequency. But this antenna has no gain and for tv application you would probably look for a more directionnal antenna like a yagi.

@@tinybricole7774 I am wondering if you would have some insight into antennas. From looking at TV antennas, two stand out. Channel Master 4221 whisker vintage antenna and the Grey-hoverman double diamond antenna. These items were made years ago and to this day have been improved upon, still used to this day. What puzzles me since technology has moved on so much is why antennas have not really moved in the same direction ?? Peace

1:22 you should not go back over the metal with the chisel on the last cut if you do that it will look less good

@@tinybricole7774 1:47 also for this you should lift the chisel from the metal then move it back and the put it back on the metal if you keep the chisel on the project when turning ik back it can get stripes on it
