I guess I'm surprised at how seemingly unsanitary this is. Everything is out in the open. I realize this is coming in from the field, but after the honey is extracted, flies, hair, dirt can get into the honey... and then he puts an ungloved finger into the flow and lets it drip into the barrel. No hairnets or sanitary gloves... Optics is everything, even if it's "sanitary". It just doesn't look that it is. I thought food processing was an industry where cleanliness is paramount.

Great video. A suggestion for another video- I’d like to see how you strap and net hives on your trucks. I run about 60 hives, hoping to be around 100 this spring. Seems like I always have them come loose or move ha. I’d love to see how the pro’s do it. Thanks for sharing!

These people don't care about their living conditions as long as they don't have to pay for them... Virtually all of the money most of them make us being sent back to their families in other countries... Giving them a higher wage is a good thing but as long as they don't get free housing they won't change their living conditions...

Bob Binnie uses a boat 12v pump. Cost is about $900.00

We run a 4gpm FloJet 12v pump w/100' 3/4" garden hose. Ball valve nozzle. It takes 14 seconds to fill 1 gal w/thin syrup. 22 Seconds to fill 1 gal w/thick syrup. Auto shut off at 40psi. For the same reasons, I'm beefing up to the 7gpm Flojet next season. Hope this helps!

Great info... I am in the Tree service industry, and decided too go with the KUBOTA R430.. So far im very happy with it.. But its a bit heavy, yet that extra weight, comes in handy for its size when we do get a big job.. I like the interchangeable skidsteer style hookup on my kubota.. Like its brute power. But with full cab, with heat. a.c, Its great if you on the machine all day in any weather. BUT A BIT OF A PAIN TOO GET IT AND OUT OFF.. AND THE full cab R430 Is a bit heavier.. gvw 8600 lb ish... Still, you can move it around with a 1ton dually, but towing it daily i use a bigger c7500.. Just for the stopping power.. I wanted a bobcat sal, avant or giant. But they just didnt have lift cap that the kubota does.. I wish HUMMER BEE WAS a bit bigger of a company.. and wish i knew about them before i got the kubota. BUT the kubota is a work horse.. ONLY things bad about the 420, FULL CAB, Harder too climb in and out.. WEIGHT, W/ FULLCAB AND BALLAST.. And the AUX SETUP.. i WISH IT HAD A AUXILLARY SETUP That used the main stick that operates the boom.. w/ some buttons, controls. on same main stick.. Instead YOU HAVE TOO USE 2X HANDS TOO BE FAST WITH IT, 1 ON THE BOOM,BUCKET STICK, OTHER"- on the Aux lever, were THE added 3rd function switch too operate the log grapple and or spin... like i said too be efficient you need kinda both hand on both sticks- to move the boom and aux,3rd function fast an efficient.. The kubota does have great dealer support.. and the thing is a beast, especially in tree service, land service, moving big heavy logs, piles of brush, and even will drag and almost lift medium size whole trees.. The 3rd function on the separate aux stick is only PITA'.. --KUBOTA R430 Also comes with a forklift carriage option for front instead instead of a reg' loader boom setup.. and.. you can even get a backhoe attached on back of it.. OR prob run other stuff of the rear since there a main hydro are there.. -Id love too test the hummerbee for a fay or 2 against the kubota.. It looks like awesome machine.. The KUBOTA R430 is about the same price.. and the dealer is rite down road from me.. bit of a positive for me.. There are tandem axle, non tilting, trailers for articulated loaders, swingers, hummerbees, giants. My company's been using them for decades.

Your farm workers are very lucky to have such clean accommodations provided to them. I was a farm worker in the 70s and these accommodations are like staying at a Quinta Inn compared to what was provided to my family back in the day. I’m glad migrant workers are being looked after in California, which is where I picked cherries and apricots. God bless you for looking after these farm workers. Too bad these inspectors don’t appreciate all your efforts. Good luck to you and God bless you.

What factors are important for proper and good wintering, some facts about big facilities. I listened to Mr John Miller talking about some key issues of your operation and read his article in BeeCulture but I can't still imagine how you manage so many beeyards and beecolonies. Even though I translate many beekeepers (Among them Bob Binnie from Georgia, Ian Steppler from Canada etc) from all over the world, you example is unique. Have you tried the chain uncapper and are they better or worse than the heated knives? Nice setup you have.

My Dad grew up down the street from your grandfather Neil in Blackfoot. He would mow his lawn for him in the summers, and eventually ended up working on the extraction line, uncapping and spinning frames for him. Growing up hearing some of those stories made me interested enough to eventually get into bees myself when I was 13. Im 24 now and run a sideline operation of ~50 hives in central and northern Utah. In some ways I don’t know if I would have ever found bees in the first place if it wasn’t for your family, and the stories my dad used to tell us growing up about when he worked for Miller Honey Farms. Anyways small world haha. Thanks for the videos though! ,I hope you keep producing more! I like the way you guys run your operation, and the videos on this channel are so valuable to those looking to learn more when it comes to the commercial and business side of the beekeeping world. Keep it up!
