The problem is the lack of promotion of our local languages. I believe in the bigger cities, multiple local languages must be taught. It should be compulsory for every student to learn at least three local languages in primary school. The English language should be taught starting from JHS.

Don't mind the French! They just refuse to speak English out of jealousy. It's the same with Germans.

This is my plight, however i am abroad. I also believe ga people should be fighting to keep the language alive in Accra! And correction Edna isn't white, she is mixed race. Her mum is a Ga. The parents should raise the kids in their native language simple. Then the child is advantaged because they have multiple languages. Intermarrying shouldnt stop anyone.

I personally have had alot of encounter where Akans and some of the other tribes are open tribalistic in their thinking. They just refuse to speak our language and not we refusing to learn our language. How do you explain that we are here and yet understand their language and they don't understand ours? The reality is our brothers and sister from other tribes are being tribal in their thinking and not only language but what they say and do. We are part to blame but the reality must be said as is
