Awesome tie
Dude in the peanut gallery, with all the talk, sounds too much like an old boss. 😂😂
😂
he's talking Trout fishing right? Arent rattles more of a bass fishing tinker toy thing?
this is for trout- but the rattle isn't being tied in for the rattle, but rather a platform to increase the shoulders of the fly to get more profile. One or two glass bead rattles don't really produce much noise when compared to a ratl trap or other lures, so it's just being used to increase that front 1/3" where a fish is typically largest.
Thanks for sharing!
I did it 👋👏The first one took me an hour ash ,the second one only took me 25 min. without looking at your tutorial .Ed thank you very you are a great instructor .A little chatty at times but then they all are.👍🙌

Great video! Would be helpful to include full materials list in the disruption.
the only thing that gets rid of didymo is high flows... although we pray for huge snow packs for late season positive water flows the biggest reason is those flushes of water in the spring not so much to scour the stream bed but to clean out all the unwanted organism to naturally create a better environment for our insects... the biggest problems you guys have is your dams which unregulated in favor of stream habitat and more directed to energy and irrigation will lead to a didymo explosion... unfortunately with tourism, especially fishing tourism in this country you aren't going to stop the spread of didymo rather it will have to run its course until the organisms sharing the same biosphere either uses it or fights against it.
👍 you didn't show us how you finished the tail ED.
If you pinch your 30lb mono with pliers and put a flat spot in it, or two, you can stack the two strands of mono on top of the lead hook. Stacking the mono on the lead hook will keep the trailing hook from twisting. As it is, with round mono, any pressure or twisting on that trailing hook is going to telegraph up into the leading hook and it is a real bugger trying to get the two hooks to run parallel. Oh, unless this fly is for the B box.
Just tie it on the side of your front hook and fold it over to the other side to secure it. Never had an issue with hooks riding true with both mono or wire this way.
Ed is the man. Such an innovative pattern. Works like a charm! Not an easy pattern to tie either. I got to get over to 1884 fly shop.
Great information!!!
Leave a thumbs up!
