    Continued….. So my point is this. Her original name is not just Sade it’s a shorter version of her last name. The ending part no less. So when people want to be all unique and inventive with their kids’ names, I suggest go ahead but use the Standard English alphabet as it is intended to be used cuz all ur going to do is messed up the rest of ur kid’s life when they have to correct anybody and everybody who reads their name correctly but incorrectly as it was intended according to the named person or parent. And for people who intend on coming to America or other countries like England might want to look up their future baby names and how it is pronounced here cuz when it looks and sounds and reads like vulgar words or body parts I generally wrote those on the board if I also couldn’t tackle the last name cuz it would be just as difficult. One kid’s name read barely like the F curse and another girls name read as “genital”, when I asked her to pronounce it I believe it had an accent too. I can’t remember the spelling but it was pronounced as Jenna-teal plus, she had an speaking accent which made it read differently but spelled like genital or close to it. Another girl was named “virgin” not Virginia, not Gina, just virgin. That was just stupid and inconsiderate on her parents part of what that girl will have to go thru her whole life. I’ve came to quickly realize that all parents aren’t like mine obviously. Anyone can be a parent and just because parents are parents doesn’t mean they are automatically smart cuz clearly anyone can procreate but u know we do learn how to utilize the alphabet from pre k-2nd grade, that’s 4 years. I didn’t go to pre K and I’m no genius, it’s just common sense, common knowledge and common courtesy not to name ur kid something that will be a hardship for them throughout their entire life. But that’s the thing, common sense is not that common anymore. Now it’s more like common ignorance. So yeah u have Pre k, k, 1st and 2nd grade learning how to use and apply the alphabet and Then it’s reinforced every single year after that until secondary graduation. So not only should the general public know how to use and apply the alphabet correctly (unless of course if u have a learning disability) but as a parent u should always want the best for ur child and providing them with a difficult name to live with is setting them up with frustration And hardship when all u want to be is individualized and unique. Another suggestion for those who are unsure how something reads and want it to read the way it is intended, write the name down and ask several people, both educated and not so educated, if u want. I would go with educated , just to see how universally correct ur intended name and it’s pronunciation is perceived, read and verbalized. So please parents think about ur kids and their future and not just about how u wish u didn’t have what u consider to be a boring, typical name and try to live vicariously thru ur child who should in turn resent u for the hardship u have bestowed upon them with a simple but considerate task of naming them, which turned into a daunting future for them and hopefully later they will legally change it for their own sanity and salvation. To put it shortly, smarten up parent, already. Cuz when u name ur kid a stupid name that doesn’t make sense it’s a clear reflection on u and ur complete inability or carelessness or sheer ignorance to accurately use the alphabet as intended for the sake of ur child. Ps. When u go to look up Shaday, the search engine comes up as “Shaday songs”. So obviously I’m not alone here. So to that bratty little girl who yelled at me and wanted to blame everyone else for the continuous mispronunciation of her name. Majority rule here. It’s not us who’s doing it incorrectly and we didn’t name u. That in itself was sheer ignorance too. I stand with the same thought in my head as I did that day, which is Ur parent, most likely ur mother is an idiot who doesn’t know how to use the alphabet correctly, obviously plus, not everyone is gonna be familiar with who this singer is and how to pronounce her invented stage name. But u know as usual it’s everyone else fault and there is absolutely no accountability there. Now I’m glad she has that name cuz she was so unnecessary nasty to me and I did nothing wrong but pronounced it correctly. So have fun with it sweetie. :) Pss. I always get compliments on my name-always, and the best part is it’s not very common at all and everyone knows how to read it. I guess she will really never know what the feels like. So for anyone who wants to name their baby girl after this singer, remember it’s an invented stage name Derived from the ending part of a foreign surname, so take note ur really reaching if u want to aim for correct pronunciation here if ur going with Sade. It wasn’t her first name, which is easy. Her last name is difficult to pronounce And think about ur kid first. I would write it as it is reads “Shaday”. But it maybe read too quickly too like in Shaquille, when u want the Sha to stand alone from “day” so maybe Shahday would be better. And yeah I know Day is very generic amd I fun but that’s how it’s intended for pronunciation. Gotta tell ya, It’s a hard one, I know, but this four letter name is ruining this girl’s life. It still unique sounding enough so leave it at that. Shaday or Shahday. Frankly, I would pick a different name altogether and just KISS- keep it simple, stupid.

  • @trumpybearfan1585
    @trumpybearfan1585 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I guess some mother of a teen at school named her daughter after her stage name Sade. So when I went to take attendance and I’m really good with unfamiliar and diverse names, I went to say this one. Of course I said it as the way it phonetically reads, according to the Standard English Alphabet in America. Plus, relating it to other familiar names and words and how to correctly use the alphabet I took it on Correctly. But, not according to the girl named Sade who got irate about it. Sade Take away the E, makes the the “a” a short vowel sound as in the word Sad. Now when u add an E at the end it makes the middle vowel say its name with the long A sound. It does not add an accent on the e nor was one written, as to make the short a sound with the accent that wasn’t there. So when I was looking at it I quickly related it to other words and names I know of, for example… Mad is like sad but if you add the E it’s made. Just like the spelling of the name Jade for a girl, sounds like MADE but just with a J. Or even leaning towards Sadie but just spelled a different variation, which doesn’t conform entirely which is a very common and mistaken practice among newly invented names today. So when I asked, “is it Sade (as in like Jade) or Sadie here?” The student got all nasty and loud and overly pissy cuz she was tired that no one can pronounce her name as intended or as she put it “correctly”. And in very nasty fashion she said, “No, no, no, it’s not Sade (Jade) it’s not Sadie it’s Sade it’s Sade!!!! What is wrong with people, they always say those two names it Sade Sade!!!” I’m like ok. But in my head im thinking if ur parents used the alphabet correctly when naming u, u wouldn’t have to go thru this. It’s not everyone else’s fault, apparently it’s ur parents. Ready here is a little lesson on phonemes. The letter S just makes the S sound, the intended sound of the beginning of the name should be spelled with Sh, ok, cuz that is called a blended pair and makes the “sh” sound. The next sound is the short “a, sound, the last part of her name is like the word Day. So when u want to hear it correctly or not get ur child frustrated throughout their entire life then I strongly suggest names are not invented with ur own form or use of the alphabet cuz it won’t conform to what most people know and learned correctly. Even when u look up her songs u will likely spell her name the way it sounds which is Shaday. Then what comes up, her name and her music, wow, big shocker there. So yeah, I was and am correct with little missy and her tude. I only later found out there is a singer with this name when I saw her album sold at a garage sale. I didn’t know her name but of course know her hits. I said to the owners, what is her name? And they pronounced it Shaday, that’s when I realized she was named after a popular singer that a lot of people may have known back then but not everyone will be familiar with, especially with the spelling of her name. Now there is the accent u can use over the e, which can also be a variation shade but the problem with accents is, just like here in this text, they don’t come up or fit so I don’t recommend that either cuz it will be pronounced as it reads like Lamp Shade. Nor do I recommend commas in between a persons name as in Sha’de or Sha’day cuz just an unusual, extra thing thing that ur kid has to do, then when they go to use the computer or phone they need to hunt that extra key to access the comma or accent, say when u have to put down ur name formally on a plane reservation or application or God forbid, fill in bubbles like in the good ol days. Thank God that’s nearly over with. Yeah, it’s unique but aesthetically it looks odd but in the end, It’s a real pain in the ass. But back to the name. Her original name isn’t all that cool at all. It’s just Helen, like any other old lady’s name, like my aunt who just died at 91 years old, her name was Helen. So of course with her sexy look and British accent they had to go more eccentric and sensual and not so geriatric so they took the ending part of her last name and went with that. Helen Folasade Adu, so let’s first realize that the ending pronunciation of her name is aided in its pronunciation due to the beginning part but the second fact is that it is the ending part of a foreign surname name Derived from Niagara from her father’s side, which means their letters, their alphabet, and their phonemes aren’t used in the same manner and fashion as the Stand English Version and that goes with many different countries. Even when I went to learn the Irish speaking language of Gaelic, it was a lot harder than say Italian or Spanish cuz it’s completely different. It’s a whole different form of language.

      The literal break down of the name (a Yoruba name) is as follows: Fi (use) Ola (wealth) Se (to make) Ade (the crown), hence Folasade. Note that in Yoruba language the letters tend increase when a name is dissected to bring out the literal meaning. I'm Nigerian and from the South West region she comes from.
