In this video I use a thin coating of shellac or button polish to seal my collagraph plates. This protects the collage materials when I apply and clean of the inks during the printing process.

No, sadly I haven’t. Might have to pick people’s brains on that one.

Several questions. What are you working on? Was that water or glue you put down to hold the wrinkled paper?
I use mount board as a substrate (base board). My sticking medium is PVA glue which I use both for adhesion as well as being a shiny texture which resists ink and create white areas in my prints.

how many coats of shellac do you apply and do you use the flake type or ready made shellac liquid?
I use one thin coating of a ready made button polish made by a company called Fiddes. Most shellac based varnishes will do as will the shellac flakes and buttons which you dissolve in meths.

Can I ask, Sarah, what ink is the relief ink? I want that colour, but cannot find it, unless you mixed it.
