Mike Brady - Advance Australia Fair
Advance Australia Fair was adopted on April 19, 1984 and was originally officially proposed in 1974 to replace “God Save the Queen,” which had been the national anthem from 1788 to 1974. The original music and lyrics were composed by Peter Dodds McCormick, and first performed in Sydney in 1878. In 1977, in a plebiscite to choose a national tune, "Advance Australia Fair" won over "The Song Of Australia", "God Save The Queen", and "Waltzing Matilda".
This version, sung by Mike Brady, was published in August 1982 to commemorate the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane and was also used by a Queensland television station at their daily end of transmission. In this version, the refrain on the first verse is left out and goes straight into the second verse. This is probably one of the last recordings of the original composition before the lyrics were altered in 1984.

    THE SONG OF AUSTRALIA by Mrs. C. J. CARLETON, West-terrace. There is a land where summer skies Are gleaming with a thousand dyes, Blending in witching harmonies; And grassy knoll and forest height, Are flushing in the rosy light, And all above is azure bright - Australia! There is a land where honey flows, Where laughing corn luxuriant grows, Land of the myrtle and the rose; On hill and plain the clust'ring vine Is gushing out with purple wine, And cups are quaffed to thee and thine - Australia! There is a land where treasures shine Deep in the dark unfathom'd mine For worshippers at Mammon's shrine; Where gold lies hid, and rubies gleam, And fabled wealth no more doth seem The idle fancy of a dream - Australia! There is a land where homesteads peep From sunny plain and woodland steep, And love and joy bright vigils keep; Where the glad voice of childish glee Is mingling with the melody Of nature's hidden minstrelsy - Australia! There is a land where, floating free, From mountain-top to girdling sea, A proud flag waves exultingly; And FREEDOM'S sons the banner bear, No shackled slave can breathe the air, Fairest of Britain's daughters fair - Australia!

      @OZnationalist ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Australiaguy-k9y Just take a walk through any larger city in Australia. What will you see? Well for example, in Epping 3 years ago I was walking through the area. The only English written things I remember seeing was at the train station. And 85 percent of the people I saw were from East Asia or India. All the store signs, all the buoldings and most of the ads were all in Chinese. And that's just one example! Just take a walk through Sydney today, do that and tell me if that looks like Australia to you. Even in Australian schools, they teach you to be against your nation and its history. They encourage Anglo-Saxons to consider themselves aborigionies even if they only have 5 percent Aborigional blood in them! At schools and meetings, at the begining they always aknowlege that it is Aboriognial land, and not anyone elses! When we sing the anthem, no one sings it with pride anymore. They literally have a rainbow flag on the video where they play the national anthem at schools! And let me ask you, what makes Austalia Australian? You can answer how ever you want, but to me its: Culture, National Idenity and pride, a united set of vaules and etc. I don't want to sound like a racist (I'm half German myself) but we must make Australia how it was around 40 years ago! Some immigration is okay, but when you destroy all national pride, national idenity and demonize a nations history and colonizers? That's too far, mate. And don't even get me started on the modern ugly woke cooperate-style buildings that are ruining my nations beuaty! Australia is in the worst state it ever was, and things are only getting worse. Most people can't even answer the question "What does it mean to be an Australian" peoperly. White guilt, wokeness, and radical leftist political activism in every social instatution (and more) has ruined our once glorious and Sunny nation.

    god save the king of Australia now and forever May there always be An Australian monarch Speaking as an American, I think it is extremely valuable to have a non-partisan head of state! The monarchy serves as a symbol of the unity of Australia and the Commonwealth Realms! The people of the Commonwealth Realms and the wider Commonwealth are blessed to have a crowned Simple Of Unity And Goodwill! Sometimes, I genuinely wish we were a Commonwealth Realm All places on Earth have political disagreement the Commonwealth realms are no exception. however, they have an advantage over us in the United States Unlike us, their head of stake is not subject to or tinted by the political process therefore his Majesty is able to represent all people whatsoever regardless of a political party while ensuring that the constitutional conventions of his realms are respected and followed. If necessary his majesty can act impartially to preserve the rights and liberties of his people this is a huge advantage! The Commonwealth Realms not only has a flourishing democracy they also have an impartial party to ensure that the government elected by the people serves the People and in doing so respect the Constitution! This is not something we have in the United States and I wish we did! And I know people would disagree this is just my personal opinion. God save the king
