    Hi, thanks for sharing your story. I'm looking to find a job as a 3D animator in japan for around 6 months (I'm coming on working holiday later this year) and by the time I get there I should be n4 to n3 level in japanese. I have a good 3D generalist portfolio and am building an animation specific portfolio right now. Is it likely studios will be willing to take me on for 5-6 months given my portfolio is reasonably good, or is that too short of a timeframe for it to be worth hiring me for them? Thanks :D

    • @Bonyari_Boy
      @Bonyari_Boy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you can get a working holiday visa, maybe. A company might not sponsor the work visa of someone staying for so little time though.

    I know this video is old, but as someone just getting started, I really appreciate how you’ve simplified each category. I’ve been told to, and also warned against, using RTK, so I’m glad you encourage it as I was leaning that way anyway. I plan to go alongside Genki I & II while doing RTK with an Anki deck I found for RTK. Then, when that’s all done, or perhaps partway through, I’ll do some Anki vocab. I found a Tango n5 Anki deck that seems like a good place to start once I’m there. Then I’ll also try graded readers and sentence mining too. If you have any critiques or suggestions, let me know!

    I've been a big fan of the indie rock band Hitsujibungaku since early last year, so it was interesting to see them on that playlist and realize they had their beginnings in the subculture you discussed here. I'll certainly be listening to the rest of the playlist! Also, I wonder what effect the runaway success of the late 2022 anime Bocchi the Rock has had on the Japanese underground scene. Tbh I never even knew it was referencing the subculture until you showed some footage from concerts and realized the venues were very similar to the one depicted in the anime. I've heard that the school in K-on became a tourist attraction, and Yuru Camp noticeably increased sales of camping equipment in Japan, so maybe live music venues in Shimokitazawa are enjoying increased ticket sales?

    • @Bonyari_Boy
      @Bonyari_Boy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep Hitsujibungaku started down in this world before they rocketed to stardom! There has been increased interest thanks to Bocchi, and the main venue featured in the show (called Shelter IRL) apparently never has trouble selling tickets. But anime fans do mostly seem to be interested in that one spot rather than the rich and storied scene as a whole. On my other channel, I have an interview with THE TOMBOYS who are probably the closest thing to a real life Kessoku Band, although to call them that would do disservice to their sparkling 12+ year career: th-cam.com/video/XIHORlKysX0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Vv8jGrql5cHzC_n1

I think it’s worth the time to work on a skill and develop something that will allow you to flourish in a different country, not move somewhere based on impulse. I am a very impulsive person and having been living all my life like. But then again… sometimes… it makes life more interesting living that way 😂 but much more risky I guess.

    I was so close to visiting South Korea and Japan at one point. I'm a Motion Capture actor and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. That would've been a real dream come true to work in Japan and visit South Korea.

    They always say the grass is greener on the other side or in Japanese, 隣の芝生は青い. Take it from me: I live in Hawaii, a place the Japanese love to visit, but everything here is so expensive and morgages could easily go into the millions of dollars.
