The smug arse standing in front of the Dassault Falcon is me ... this was the one (and only time) I flew on a private jet (to Vanuatu) due to (reasons) ... otherwise it's cattle-class and never business class 🥹
I wish I had a video camera when I was 'coming of age' in Brisbane back in the 90s to document how things were ... so I'm capturing how things are now that may be of interest in 30-40 years time ... ?

🇦🇺 Ocean Drive Duplication Progress: Part 11 (23-Dec-2024)
Documenting the progress ... for posterity ... of the widening of Ocean Drive in Port Macquarie.
Quite a few changes since Part 10 in Aug-2024: access to Matthew Flinders Dr from Ocean Dr is now closed, access from Ocean Dr to Emerald Dr has re-opened, and Maranatha Pl now has a roundabout. We are also driving on large sections of the new road - no more dodging potholes after a moderate rainstorm.

I love being out in the country. This was taken on one of our road trips from Sydney to Adelaide to visit my brother, a mere 15 hour/1400km drive. We usually break it up - Sydney to Mildura on the first day, then into Adelaide on the second. Coming back, Adelaide to Wagga and then into Sydney. {Video is in Finnish/Video on suomeksi} In memory of my dear Finnish friend Mirka Mäkinen who passed away in 2023 after battling cancer from 2010. This was her appearance on a Finnish television dating show called "VideoTreffit" (or "Video Dates", that her friends had volunteered her for) in 2000 when she was 27 years old. A drive west from the Melbourne CBD out to Mt. Helen, near Ballarat via the West Gate Bridge and the M8 Western Freeway. It takes about 1½ hours to cover the 130km. We take the Gordon exit shortly before Ballarat so we can drive along the massive wind turbines. The main delays (about 10min) were caused by the ongoing West Gate Tunnel related roadworks (2025 completion). M8 Western Freeway M80 M...

I love tree-lined streets. Here's some from Albury's quiet CBD on my recent drive from Port Macquarie to Melbourne. From Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albury Albury is a major regional city that is located in the Murray region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the Hume Highway and the northern side of the Murray River, and also on the Victoria-New South Wales border. Albury has...

🇦🇺 Tugun Bypass Tunnel Confusion (12-Jan-2024)

I thought this was mildly interesting - despite everything I could see, the tunnel signs were requiring us to stop on the motorway, even though traffic was obviously flowing through it with no issue. We were using Google Maps which also indicated traffic flowing at expected speed, no orange slowdowns or red stops. Traffic had slowed from 100km/hr as required, no doubt as people tried to interpr...
🇦🇺 Woodburn (NSW) After The Bypass (12-Jan-2024)

Woodburn was one of those "bottlenecks" on the Pacific Highway, always busy with people stopping for lunch so we never stopped there, deciding to stop in Ballina (before it was bypassed) instead. The bypass has obviously made it a much quieter town but with the loss of some business unfortunately, including the petrol station. There is, however, still a Liberty petrol station just before you le...

Maururu, great video when I feel homesick! =)
The island looks beautiful! Unfortunately Papeete looks a bit beat up and showing its age with decaying infrastructure and spray paint tagging on plenty of businesses and walls. 😬
which camera did you use?
I HAVE A GODDAMN PLAN!!!
2:17:47 As you can see the beach is quite small. It was not always like this, when I was younger there was a proper beach. The sea just keep eating the place
2:14:34 Right side. They finished renovating the place. Now it's much cleaner, and also there's the AC. Nice

Viaje a Tahitiano varias veces en la decada de los 80, despues de ver este video se que el Tahiti que yo conoci ya no existe, que pena!!
Amazing video! Did you drive up to the green valley in Puna'auia? Video has been so helpful as I’m renting a car when I’m there and I’m from the UK so good to learn the roads! Thanks again!
Nice day out Brfff. Thanks for the free tour. Hope to do the same in the not too distant future.
Thanks Brfff. When I get over there I will definitely drive around the whole island and check out all these little interests. Richard from Sydney.
You sound like me when I'm talking to myself. I'm 64. My 35yo son takes me on death marches just like this, every so often. Definitely won't be doing this one when I eventually get there.
I enjoyed your journey. I hope to get there myself within a couple of years. I have saved this journey, a shopping tour and a few others, one of which is the entire trip around the island. Also saved a Moorea tour as well. Thanks Brfff.
Beautiful looking Tahiti and looks big enough too

J’aime beaucoup. On ne voit pas de SDF qui dort au bord de route...c’est propre
Tout le monde semblait globalement heureux. Je ne me suis jamais senti en danger ou importun. Everyone seemed generally happy. I never felt unsafe or unwelcome.
Thanks so much for going up Day Street West Albury, it brought back so many beautiful memories of Christmas Dinners at Gran and Poppy Brown's and all of my relatives who also lived in the street?
Thanks for your comment, I'm glad it brought back nice memories. I was thinking the other day about the trips we used to take from Logan (south of Brisbane) to Bribie Island to visit my Nan & Pop in the 80s. Wish I'd captured more memories back then - I do have a snippet of video when I visited from Europe (living in Finland at the time) in 1999 ... kangaroos on the Bribie golf course.

Thankyou for that Albury video. It's changed a bit since when I grew up there. It's different but very much the same. Thankyou.
You're very much welcome!
Le beau ruban de bitume.......
OK, OK... avec le recul, j'aurais dû d'abord inclure une vidéo des cascades! OK, OK ... in hindsight, I should've included some video of the waterfalls first!
Fantastic video! A virtual tour of the island.
Thanks Joel. A beautiful island and wonderful people. /Brett
BTW Joel, I appreciate you taking the time to make a comment - this is my 2nd channel so I've not checked it lately (I mainly do retro-computer-nerd stuff) and as of 20-Apr-2024: 3885 views 58 likes (100% ... phew) 6 comments ... 🥹 So, I appreciate you taking the time to give some feedback 👍
You mentioned shopping bags. Does the supermarket not provide one and so you have to provide your own when you go shopping?
Similar to Australia, they have phased out (I assume) plastic/paper shopping bags at the checkout ... so you need to bring your own (if buying more than a few items). I don't remember seeing the Carina Express having some you could buy if you forgot (I could be wrong) - the Carrefour supermarkets certainly do have re-usable ones you can buy and, I think, make neat "souvenirs" that you can re-use back home as some have Tahitian themes and/or French on them. /Brett
@@Brfff thanks for the quick reply. They phased out plastic bags in Hawaii and some states in the US. I will have to remember that when I shop in Tahiti one day. How much does a reusable bag go for on average at Carrefour or anywhere else in Tahiti?
Should clarify before some smartarse does ... "phased out FREE shopping bags" ... you can still get them in Australia and at the Carrefour in Tahiti, but you have to pay for them, hence the incentive to bring-your-own & re-use them.
@@bjpeterdelacruz7091 oooh, it's been a year ... can't remember ... I'm thinking maybe ₣300 (about US$2.70) ... but I could be wrong. They have different types in Carrefour. I've got one in my car (I'm away from home at the moment) ... I'll post a photo a bit later.
Your camera is too low and aimed too high. Put it on a mount on your roof and aim it down a little. Other than that, yeah, good.
Thanks for taking the time to give some feedback, appreciate it. I am actually using a GoPro suction cup mount on my roof ... but, I've got the GoPro set to have a wider field of view to try to capture more of the sides. The downside is that it captures more of the sky than desirable. If I had it pointing any further down then it'd capture a lot of my bonnet bobbing in and out of view. I have thought about maybe mounting it on my bonnet - might give that a try on the local roads (worried the engine heat might make the suction fail ... ?). Small example of the bonnet being captured here: th-cam.com/video/QTDRD5kQaUA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GZIB4dSxn6dxOXgr&t=4383
@@BrfffTravels Bonnet would be way way too low. Yes, appreciate the challenges.
Wow it all different since I've been up that way ....have a great day thank you for sharing
In nearly 40 years had green lights all the way once,l thought the bray st. lights the last ones would get you.
Some very fancy video editing here. To go all the way through town and catch every green light bar two.
How to see the real Australia with a go pro camera. No one actually talks to you. At a bus stop on a Sunday.
This depicts the insanity of our Australian motoring public in 2024
What do you mean.
WTF?
Après les études j’y veux déménager.
C'est un beau pays plein de gens formidables! It’s a beautiful country full of wonderful people!
Your video makes me dizzy 😵
Ahhh, sorry. I'm still quite shy about filming in public so I try to be discrete ... people look at you and wonder why you're filming a boring supermarket. I will try to do better!
I will just watch this in the background to relax.
That's exactly what I was aiming for ;)
J'ai beaucoup aimé votre vidéo, c'est normal que j'aime c'est ma capitale Papeete Tahiti. Merci pour le partage ❤
For those first time travellers coming from the airport this is a boring way to see and enter Melbourne for the first time. A more scenic route is to get off the Hume Freeway and get onto the Western Ring Road. Head west along that. It will take you into the city. Along the way you will view the cityscape. When closer you will cross the Westgate Bridge and have stunning views of the city skyscrapers, parks, the Yarra and Maribynong Rivers, the Docklands and the huge, beautiful Port Phillip Bay and beaches and distant mountain ranges.
Thanks for the advice! I was actually coming from Port Macquarie (the day before), or more directly Albury that morning. I'm driving down again to Melbourne tomorrow, via Albury again. I'll see if I can try your route out - I've been wanting to capture some of the Westgate Bridge, and the roadworks. /Brett {Edited: wrote "actually" too many times}
@@BrfffTravels The Western Ring Road is toll free and takes another 10 to 15 minutes to get to the CBD. I hope that it is a sunny day so everything will look good ! You get a better view of the Bay from the outward bound side leaving the CBD. You can do a long U-turn going over the Westgate Bridge, looping under, and going back again on the other side.
@@barnowl. thanks again! I'll be down there for about two weeks so hopefully should have some good weather.

Sad to see that signage in Australia can be as stupid as the US.
Typical Aussie driver 😂
I wish 😕
Wdym? He followed the traffic laws completely?
Didnt you see the plane in the tunnel, the roads people did.
At worst, you could have pull over to the shoulder (having had plenty of warning) and called 131940, SE Queensland's traffic monitoring centre, to inform them of the conflicting information regarding the tunnel. If there there was an incident (*and you cannot see the exit of this tunnel from the entrance or the sign) and you came across it - like a vehicle on fire, or even emergency workers on the road rescuing someone from a vehicle entrapment and you hit one of them, you would have equally been liable. If everyone was going through a red traffic light because they are too stupid and impatient to do so, would you as well? I certainly wouldn't.
Except you wouldn't be liable. That yellow led sign isn't a Uniform Traffic Control Device. If those red lights were on, then he would be liable. But they weren't. This tunnel had no actual legal signage directing drivers to stop.
So glad I saw this!!!! I've been meaning to go back and visit SEQ since I was last there in 2021, and I've been curious to see how the construction on the Pacific Motorway have been progressing since then. Thanks for sharing!! :)
No worries ... I wish I had a 4K GoPro back in the 90s to capture the drive down from Logan/Brisbane to the GC ... an incredible difference to today. Just trying to capture something to compare with in a few decades when the roadworks are a dim memory. /Brett
Great video thanks Your correct about the road works I don’t think I’ve ever drivin on the same piece of M1 / pacific Hwy bitumen ever Also interesting to see where the exits are NOW haven’t been up to our holiday units at Broad Beach since we were locked out QLD Going up again in July
