Those 2 or 3 years before pop idol were a strange time for Australian music. For all the big bands like Powderfinger, Grinspoon and George who were at their peak in the middle early 2000s, there were so many "promising" new acts that were being hyped up Australia's next big thing, yet almost *instantly* faded into lost media levels of obscurity afterwards.

Thank you for your post about this song. That said, the information provided above is inaccurate. "Holly Golightly" was a Sydney-based band formed by D Henry Fenton and Bentley Rumble in January 1988. A 5 track EP "Holly Would" was released by Holly Golightly in October 1994 on the Melbourne-based Siren label. There is an entry about the band and its EP posted on Discogs. The song "Dumb Waiter" was co-written by D Henry Fenton [music] and Bentley Rumble [music/title/lyrics] in 1993. The song was performed live by Holly Golightly but never recorded by them. The act known as "Holly" was entirely a D Henry Fenton solo project. Bentley Rumble had no involvement in it beyond serving as co-writer of both "Dumb Waiter" and its subsequent 1998/Roadshow single "Tiny Pieces."
