This is a cover of a song by John Prine. We love his classic style, as it suits what we do. This song is sung by Brian with harmonies by Adam, Graham, and Matt. Here are some lyrics for the original tune: When I was a child my family would travel Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born And there's a backwards old town that's often remembered So many times that my memories are worn A...

Our take on an old favorite. Feels like every show we play this there is a midwestern son of a longshoreman standing misty eyed in a corner, there's always one.

This is a great rendition of Lightfoot's song. I have never entertained the thought of listening to anyone else's version of this song but scrolling through the videos, I stopped on "this" version for some odd reason. l'm so glad I did. The arrangement reminds me of the song played in the opening credits of HBO's Deadwood. Every instrument here has it's own voice. The guitar and banjo move you along in that country/blue grass fashion, while the mandolin sprinkles its magical pixie dust rounding out the sound of sailing on the open water. What brings it home for me is the deep resonating tone of the cello..... it gives me goosebumps. I have long been intrigued with the fate of the Edmund Fitzgerald since I was 13 in 1975. 60 yrs old now and my interest for this vessel and it's crew has never waned. (forgive me for my long winded interpretation of the instruments, I'm a musician and I just love stuff like this.) This rendition of Lightfoots song is "Grand Ole Opry" worthy. I really hope you gentlemen get signed. You all are just terrific. I was so happy to have taken part in the online memorial tribute to the Edmund Fitzgerald on 11/10/2022. I will be doing so from here on in. Peace and Love.
