I'm into Freshwater Aquariums, Planted Tanks, Tropical Fish and the Fresh Water Shrimp. Welcome to GarageAquatics2023. My name is Ron, and like so many others, I like to keep learning about the hobby and sharing what I've learned with the rest of you Tropical Fish Enthusiasts. Here in Palm Desert, California, there are challenges that keep it all interesting. It getts stupid hot! The relative can get down to . . . well lets just say there isn't any relative humidity a lot of times. I look forward to posting Videos and Shorts that will both entertain and maybe educate you by sharing what I know and what I've learned along the way. If it's my videos have done any of that, I hope you'll give a Like and SUBSCRIBE to my videos and channel. Tanks for lookin'!

Feeding Instructions For the Neighbor

We're taking off for a few days and the neighbor volunteered his son. Thanks, Spencer! I was going to post this video as Private, but I thought it just might be helpful to someone else taking off for a few days and freaking out about leaving your fish behind. I know how us fish keepers are. Instead of trying to write out instructions, I thought I'd put Post-Its on the tanks then shoot a quick v...
The Yellow Neocaridina Have Arrived!

"Oh Crap!" That's how the message I got from Tommy this morning. I couldn't help but laugh. Not what I expected. I was expecting a message saying the shrimp ought to be along today. But then it sounded like they may be lost in transit and we're going out of town in the morning and won't be mack until Wednesday. Still - a great opener for any message! 🙂fantastic update and the fish plants and tanks are looking super good!!, and anyone else reading this...Ron has tremendous guppy grass its so nice!
Well thank you for that, Jeff!

Thank you, Curtis!
So fun to see big group of young adult Bettas getting along famously!
They have been so much fun. They're just now a year old. They are gorgeous fish. I've got one male I may have to separate before too long. He seems like he's going after another male. So far it's nothing serious. Just a bit of sparring. I moved two into low tubs that were seeming to have a difficult time breaching. I really want to give breeding Bettas another go, but I should probably figure out what I'm going to do with these. Thanks, Steffan!
Great update, Ron!
Thanks, Keith! I hope you have a fantastic week ahead!
I love fish room tours. Tyvm for sharing!
Thank you, Merb!
Hey Ron, thanks for the update
Thanks, Jorge!
Thanks for the update Ron. How does one go about getting some of your Amazon swords or crypts?
Thanks, Jeff. Let me see what I can do about that.
Hello, watching my friend
Thanks, Brandon!
Great tour! I'm watching for the second time right now, so much to see! I love that each person's experience is a bit different from the next. I also do regular water changes on my shrimp tanks (25%). I tried skipping them but the tanks get foul.
Thanks, Chuck! It really is fun to see everyone's different styles and techniques. I've really learned a lot just by watching other people. I haven't really had that problem with the water fouling in the shrimp tanks. Ocassionally it'll get murkey. But it just seems to make good sense to freshen the tanks up regularly. ~Ron
@@garageaquatics2023Might be my feedings doing it, I also can't get plants to survive in their tanks too well, other than duckweed.... of course.
@@ChucksFeeesh Maybe try putting plants in pots. It make them easy to deal with - a bit of substrate, plants, then a bit of sand or graavel to hold it all together. Just a thought. 🙂
@@garageaquatics2023 I'll definitely give it a shot!
That is gonna be one angry cat by the end of the video 😅
She is such a pushy little furball!
Lol you could hear the "right MEOW!" In her kitty voice.
Thanks for treating us to the Knucklehead's in all their glory ❤
My pleasure, Alex! I guess I probably ought to name them one of these days. Thanks!
Looking great Ron thanks for the update. 😊
Thank you, Jeff!
9:50 I love that male guppy, is that a strain you have had for a while?
Hey Ben! Once upon a time Mexicali Fishkeeper gave me a few of what he called Mutt Guppies. This was one of the hundreds of fry that have since come along. He caught my eye so I pulled him out to see what might happen. There are new fry in the tank I noticed yesterday. We shall see. ~Ron
Frequently Mutt Guppies are my favorite, can wait to see how it goes
@@LakeMissoulaAquaticsandPlants Me too, Ben. They're always good for surprises.

Thanks for sharing. The platties dont predate on the baby shrimps?
I think the adults may have. That's why I ended up moving them out.
The greens are so cool, I wanna do a jade shrimp and crypt wendtii red tank. Thanks for sharing!

I have had terrible luck with shrimp. Glad you're so successful. Maybe someday I'll try again.
It took me a couple tries, but fortunately things seem to be working.

Tanks, Merb!
Love seeing that angelfish. It mostly gets the role of an "extra" in your vids! Although i do remember you did a longer clip of it when you were investigating the murder of shrimps. 😅
Those two I lovingly refer to a knuckleheads. Yeah. I think they did clear out the Blue Dream shrimp I tried to establish in that tanks. Well lesson learned. No Angelfish and shrimp in the same tank! I've had a hell of a time trying to get a colony of Angelfish going for that tank. They were the two lone survivors out of seventeen. Then a while back I added another and it lasted for just a couple weeks. I'm not sure if these two bullied it to death, or it ws just a week fish. But these two have grown well. I've got one more (out of five) in a quarantine tank. The other four just dropped off one by one. I think commercially bread Angels are just weak fish.
@@garageaquatics2023I've never had luck with Angels either. I'd like a young colony to grow on. I just hear so many stories of how nasty they can be to each other once they sexually mature 😮
@@alextimothy147 I haven't heard that. I watch another channel called Adrian's Fishroom. He's got an eight foot tanks with a school of Angels, Electric Blue Acara and more and everyone seems to play well with each other. MD Fishtanks does as well. I figure I'll just keep worknig on it. I think I just need to find a better source.
I've been slowly removing it. It grows so well it will over take your tank. Then your fish have no place to swim.
Oh yeah. It'll go from top to bottom in a heartbeat!
Tanks for sharing!
Tanks, Merb!
How is the Garage Aquatics world head quarters? Any talk of opening a London, UK branch?

Yeah, Russ. We are. Thanks! We just got back from a little road trip from home (Palm Desert, California) to visit our kids at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. It was an absolutely beautiful drive and a wonderful visit. And we hope you're well too. And still on holiday if I remember correctly?
@@garageaquatics2023 that’s great news buddy. Keep safe! Im ok mate. Still off work, doing the livestreams. We will have to sort a collaboration when you get back
@@BGN_Aquariums We got back Tuesdday evening, So anytime, Russ. We can set it up through TH-cam or I have StreamYard so we can set it up through that.
You don't appear in my feed. Weird. I have guppy grass, it's a weed. Thanks for sharing!
It certanly is. I've been selling it almost as fast as it can grow on eBay. I put these two little, short videos up unchecking that box I mentioned in one of those live streams. So it doesn't go into subscribers feeds. I did it before trying to boost subscribers. I'll revert back to the traditional way of uploading. Tanks for lookin' Merb!
Welcome back. I missed you.
We had a fantastic trip to El Paso. We just spent time with the Kids. Tanks, Merb. Hope you're well.
I love guppy grass. I have some in my 110 gallon stock tank pond. I started off with a sandwich bag full, which i didn't plant i just placed a rock on it. lol It now covers 90% of my pond and i just had to cut some down in there to make room for the full grown guppies to swim. Originally i got it bc it was so fast growing, i was told it would out compete the hair algae....which it did not. Most of the guppy grass i cut out was covered in hair algae. But the days are getting shorter now so the hair algae will die off soon and the guppy grass will not. Overall i love it and if it didn't grow so fast and take up so much room, i would put it in my tanks inside. Definitely will be putting it in future ponds when i set them up this spring.
I know it grows like a weed. I have it in tanks in my garage and in no time it absolutely fills them! But I'll tell ya, I don't have hair algae in those tanks. Only in other tanks where more light gets past the guppy grass. I really do like it. In three of the 20 gallon tanks I have it in I have Neocaridina shrimp and they love it. They're usually all up in the guppy grass feeding. I do have guppies in those same tanks, so I do get where you've got to clear a patch just for swimming room. And I notice loads of guppy fry on the surface hanging out over the guppy grass too. I'm just thinking about setting a tub outside now that it's cooling down a bit. Although I might load it up with hornwort. Another super fast grower! I do appreciate you chmming in. Thanks for coming by. Have a fantastic weekend! ~Ron
Lol yea I have 2 of them and haven't seen them in months
I'm going to see if I can trick them out again with a big water change. I haven't done one of those in a while.

@paulstingray Eliza sells them. I hope I spelled that right. She’s got the license to 3D print them from Lowell’s Fish Lab. She’s somewhere in your neck of the woods. I saw her selling them at an auction at a school on either Katie’s Cichlids or Keeping Fish Simple. She also showed them one time when Nick toured her fish room. It’s a great tray.
