SnowRunner - Part 1 - Getting Started
This map has one of the best recovery scouts in the game the Ford F750. all of its upgrades are found in the season 1 maps. only downside is it cannot tow scout trailers it can tow truck trailers not that you would really want to.
@@sertec6071 ahhhh I see. Well I’ll have to look into that then. That sounds like a neat truck to have to
Just take your live stream and make it into several videos
@@enormouschunks7138 that thought never even crossed my mind. But if I stream through TH-cam, I believe it automatically makes a video the full length
@@PrimitiveGamingTV If you do stream on youtube it will become a video which would be great in the first place
@ I thought so! Yeah that would help out tremendously. So streaming through TH-cam would probably be a good idea anyway it sounds like like
that CAT truck you are mentioning, you will be getting it free in Alaska. And its probably the most powerful truck in entire game. I only use that as a fuel carrier and rescue missions.
@@yousufshaikhful ahhh I see. Well I’ll hold off on it for now then, and hopefully I will use it in the future!
16:00 minute mark. There is saying when you think about it. When it doubt, throttle out.
@@enormouschunks7138 “throttle out” has got to be the most fun reaction to a rough spot, but I really don’t wanna push my luck haha
thanks for doing this mission, much appreciated. if you had your HUD on you would have seen the prompt ( Timestamp 26:35 ) when you first attached the winch to the truck to turn on the engine of the winched truck which would have made it easier for you to pull. All in all it was still an easier time having it fixed up than trying to pull it fully broken.
@@sertec6071 yes it was a major difference! Imma have to remember that for any of the future pulls too! And playing without a HUD definitely causes me to miss some prompts. Although I think the cleaner look is better for a game that is heavily focused on the environment and such. But you are definitely welcome for doing the mission, I appreciate you suggesting it
Take the sideboard bed off the GMC and put it on the Fleetstar. Fleetstar has AWD sooner then the GMC
@@ljtibbs6756 that definitely would’ve helped out then! I’ve already gotten way past that by now! But I still appreciate that suggestion!
if you need to find uprades theres a site on google called maprunner
That is good to know! This game is definitely worth taking the time to enjoy but anything that will speed up the progression is definitely worth doing I think ! Thank you!
You turned off your hud that is why you can't see the tracking for your contracts. It can be a good idea sometimes to look for shortcuts. for example when you leave the garage and are heading down the hill towards the farm. if you keep straight and go around the farm plots, keeping them on your left side you will have an easier time than going through the road path with all the water and muck. sometimes shortcuts can get you in trouble but sometimes it is worth the risk to find an easier path.
The pacific p12 has 57" tires compared to the 46" inch tires on the paystar 5070. bigger is better for off roading. the sideboard bed can help keep the cargo in the truck when you start to tip over, the cargo will just slide off of the flatbed requiring you to crane it back on board.
That does makes sense. I figured it was the HUD, which I definitely should’ve noticed by now, but i just then noticed it haha. But finding shortcuts is definitely gonna have to become a priority for me, especially when going to the farm
This dlc is part of one of the season in the game
Thank you for pointing that one. I was not sure then, and still was not sure.
the game treats snow like dirt and mud. so deep snow is like deep mud. the chained tires are great on dirt (same as off road tires), slightly worse in mud and better on asphalt than off road tires. the key difference is that chained tires negate the traction penalty on icy surfaces. The KRS 58 "Bandit" has a small fuel tank but thankfully it has a roof addon you might want to get that has more fuel and some repair points.
@@sertec6071 ahhh that makes sense I suppose. I mean I guess tire chains do only really help on ice anyway… but I’ll keep that in mind whenever I get to Alaska or more on this map. And I didn’t even pay attention to the tank size in the bandit, so I’ll definitely do that
@@PrimitiveGamingTV One good thing about doing season 1 now is that the GMC MH9500 gets its AWD upgrade from Lake Kovd and its diff lock from Smithville Dam. So even though while you had it at the start and it was crap it will soon be a good vehicle to use.
@ it does seem like an interesting truck to use, just kinda useless at the current time. I very well may go back to pick it up to use it in the DLCs though once I discover the upgrades
The Pacific P12 first engine upgrade is in Drummond Island along with the off road gearbox for most of the trucks. Unfortunately most of the trucks with big wheels have trouble turning their wheels when under heavy load especially when going up hills. that being said the Pacific P12 is good on flatter ground for logging and recovery with the maintenance addon.
@@sertec6071 your help saves me so much running around it’s not even funny haha. I’d love a tally just to see how many hours of running around you’ve saved me. And yeah, it definitely seems like the weight is a major factor. I know realistically having a differential lock engaged does drastically increase your turning radius, although I’m not sure how, if any, it applies in-game.
@@PrimitiveGamingTV i don't believe the diff lock does anything to the turn radius in the game. articulated steering on the other hand can cause the vehicle to drift sideways when turning. it shows itself with the tractors from season 8. they have turn a radius of the moon orbiting the earth.
@ hahahahahaha. I’m sure I will absolutely LOATHE them then whenever I get to that point
@@PrimitiveGamingTV season 14 brought 2 new tractors that have regular steering. so you might want to do season 14 before season 8. the tractors are used mainly for farming.
@ ahhhhh. Well that does sound a bit wild haha. I do have an affinity for farming so we will see how that goes whenever I get up there
I would like to see the "Fixer Upper" side quest at some point, no need to rush. as that will give you the White Western Star 4964 truck as a reward. The AWD and raised suspension upgrades are found in Smithville Dam, while the diff lock upgrade is in Island Lake. Side tip, if you are low on fuel / need repairs and near a trailer store you can always buy a fuel or maintenance trailer refuel / fix your truck and then sell it for full price back to the trailer store.
@@sertec6071 I will look into the fixer upper side quest for sure! And that’s such a hack with the trailer but I love it hahaha. I’ll definitely be doing that for now on. And thanks for the upgrade info that’s really handy to know!
I will happily watch season dlc videos that are not done with OP mods or a fleet of "super heavies" like some other people do. Not sure why you are looking into buying individual season dlc instead of year passes but you do you. if you are not going for year passes i would recommend looking at other youtubers like cyrus with his "a Guide For Choosing DLCs: Which Ones Should You Buy First? | SnowRunner" video to get a good idea of what each season dlc has to offer with their difficulty.
@@sertec6071 I see what you mean.. I actually did not even think about going that route. However, I was thinking individual DLCs that way I could do it on my own pace and not feel like I have to “get my moneys worth” all at once. Also, that way I can keep track of what comes with which DLC. Also, the program I go through to play the game, offers major discounts for the individual packs so that influences the decisions as well. However, I will definitely look into the year passes! Thank you for pointing out my oversight!
@@PrimitiveGamingTV i got the year passes as i believed it to be the cheaper route at the time and not only did it give season dlcs but also some extra vehicles and new paint jobs for some trucks. but i do understand some people might not want to buy every season dlc. like season 7 was just a waste of everyones time including the devs time creating it.
@ yeah I was wondering if there were any DLCs that were pretty useless. That’s the Compete&Conquer DLC right? I think I looked at it a little last night, and it certainly didn’t look none too interesting.
@@PrimitiveGamingTV yup it is. it has two new worthless scouts. the "missions" are mostly races which have no real use in the game.
@ oh yeah I can see that. Well that’ll definitely be something that I skip over, well atleast at first, I may come back to it but I’ll have to see how the future goes.
That trailer is a pain 😂
@@AaronSavage12 dude whenever I tell you I was beyond annoyed 😂😂
i have no issues if you want to use dlc vehicles it's your choice. i would only ask that the really powerful ones if used are used very sparingly. thankfully there really are not many that are over powerful. the Mastodon and the Atom are the main two separate dlc trucks that are hugely powerful, following that would be the Tatra Dual pack, Kenworth W990 and when ever the new kenworth dual pack gets updated in terms of sheer power. The Western Star Wolf Pack, Western Star 49X, Navistar 5000-MV Tractor, and the GMC Brigadier are all pretty well balanced with american trucks already in the base game. Most of the scout dlcs in my opinion are worse than base game free scouts with the exception of the Rezvani Hercules which is awesome. it's one of my favorite scouts.
@@sertec6071 thank you for the information! That’s more helpful than you can imagine!. And as long as it’s not too over powerful, then I definitely will use them whenever I get around to it! I downloaded some DLCs today, and I will upload them soon. I am a few episodes ahead but I will get to it! Thanks again for the help!
@@PrimitiveGamingTV glad to help, i have over 500 hours in the game and more than willing to answer questions if i can.
@ youve definitely been more than helpful! You’ve saved me hours worth of fooling around to learn this stuff, I’ll take all the tips and help I can get haha
just a quick question for you but do you know you can add map markers when you are planning your route ? they show up in game as blue circles that make it easy to follow your planned route without having to constantly check the map. i know some people don't like using the map markers just that you are new to the game i thought i would ask.
@@sertec6071 actually, I did once think about using them as I do check my map a lot, and “a lot” may be an understatement haha. But I didn’t really get to it. But now that you mention it, I may use them
@@PrimitiveGamingTV while i remember, i have noticed you wondering about getting better engines for your trucks. in the game better engines allow you to pull more weight / carry heavier loads espically up hills. the reason for this is that if the engine is not powerful enough the wheels will either start "jerking" or stop spinning altogether when under heavy load. at that point a more powerful engine is required.
@@sertec6071 ahhhh I see. That does make much more sense. I have noticed when pulling a loaded trailer sometimes the tires to “lock” and not rotate. Thank you for the tips, I believe I’m learning more from my viewers than the game itself haha.
let me do you a favor to save your sanity a little. when pulling out mission trucks like that most of the time they are heavly damaged. broken suspension and flat tires, ect. if you repair and refuel the trucks then when you winch to them the game will let you turn on their engine which will help the winched truck almsot drive itself out of the muck.
@@sertec6071 are you serious…… you know how much of my mental health that would’ve saved hahaha. I’ll definitely remember that! That’s gonna be a game changer!
Agree. Always try to start the engine of truck being towed. The truck not only drives itself out but actually pushes your truck too if you get stuck
@@yousufshaikhfulI’m definitely gonna keep that in mind.. I can’t believe it never thought about that. That’s gonna be a game changer for sure!
Just so you now if you work on contracts more and you will get more money and xp to go up faster I have done this game from 10 times over the tasks don't pay much the contracts pay more and Gove you more xp and if you look on the other maps you will find more of the things you need
@@STEPHEN-su5iy i will definitely keep that in mind! I’ve been trying to just do the tasks off camera that way I still have some gameplay to do whenever I am unable to make a video for whatever reason, but I will definitely be trying to do more on the contracts then! Thank you for the tip I appreciate it!
if you are only wanting tires you could get the SnowRunner - Jack of All Treads Tire Pack dlc since it is on sale until the 12th dec on steam (if that is where you got the game this is). all the tires in that dlc are not level locked, they are available from level 1.
I really appreciate the tips! And I actually looked into it and I I have downloaded that pack in the future videos!
I started playing game today again. But the anxiety of hours of gameplay got hold of me. So i decided to just keep up with your videos and hopefully it will serve the same purpose
@@yousufshaikhful well I definitely appreciate the support! And it certainly does not have a shortage of gameplay so I understand that anxiety! Also I will try my hardest to not disappoint you as a stand in haha.
I just noticed you don't seem to have the SnowRunner - Anniversary DLC which is free to everyone. you might want to looking into activating that free dlc. even if you don't like the 2 new trucks you could sell them and get the International Paystar 5070 which would be far superior to the gmc mh9500 and Chevrolet Kodiak C70 without being overkill like the russian trucks.
You are correct to have noticed that! I will download that DLC and have a look into it! Thank you for the advice! Also, within the next few videos, I do change some things around, but I don’t wanna ruin anything so I’ll just keep it at that. I do appreciate your help!
Truck runs better with the bigger tires
Oh yeah it definitely seems to be much better. I am on the way to unlocking the mud tires and they should be even better. Atleast that’s what I’m am hoping!
@@PrimitiveGamingTV Wider tires automatically give you more traction.
@ I’ll have to remember that for sure!
Nah,, its not 88 hours. Its quite more than that. I have been playing this game since 4 years. I lost my save game file this year and I just couldn't complete the entire game again. Plus new expansion packs come every year. Hope to see you complete this game till end
It certainly is a massive game! And the list I see had it marked at 88 hours for a straight through only campaign. No side missions, no extras steps. With those it was around 164 hours or something I believe it said. And then there was another number, even greater than that, however I cannot remember what it was. But I will check again next time I am at my pc and get a more accurate number and post it under this comment! But I can absolutely keep making content from this game! And I will go as far as I can! I really do appreciate the support
After checking, the source that i am looking at states it is 88 hours for the main story, 158 hours for main + Extras, 218 hours for a completionist, and 167 hours for the common playthrough. Quite a massive game indeed!
you should sell the trailers when you are finished with them as in the early game any extra money is great. also when you upgrade your vehicles you should sell the parts you are not using for some extra cash.
@@sertec6071 I didn’t even know you could sell the extra parts! I thought about doing the trailers as well but haven’t gotten that far. I’ll definitely do that as soon as possible! Thanks for the tip!
