Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. Would you consider doing a blocking tutorial for a smaller project like a sampler (that’s intended to be put in a miniature picture frame) or a pillow? Do you ever use smaller tacks?
The same blocking technique would be used for smaller pieces. I also block my miniature pillows. They require only a few tacks and rarely more than one blocking. I use the same tacks for everything.
Thank you, Frances! Just ordered a Corjac tack kit.
How did u make the rug?
It is hand stitched petitpoint on 48 count silk gauze.
Frances Peterson Petitpoint curious as to the amount of hours it took. It’s astonishing and breathtaking! Wow ❤️❤️❤️ A lot of needlepoint is extremely wonky off kilter after stitching. Nowhere close to a rectangle. Yours is nearly rectangular to being with. Does that have to do with the type of stitch you chose to stitch in?
@@occipitalneuralgia2339 I do not keep track of hours. It took several months. The rug may have looked rectangular to start with but it had wavy sides and was not straight. I use the tent stitch. Basketweave can keep it straighter but I also use overdyed threads. You can't use basketweave with them or you get diagonal lines.
Frances Peterson Petitpoint are you part of the International Miniature Guild? I got to the shows, and have seen some incredible needle point rugs, but this seems to have the most detail work I have ever seen! I can’t even imagine the headaches I would get following a counted stitch chart. You are a master artisan.
@@occipitalneuralgia2339 thank you! Yes, I am a Fellow Member of IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans). If you have ever gone to Chicago International, I sell my rugs and pillows there.
Wonderful tutorial. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge.❤️
Thank you for this wonderful detailed video! I have just stitched my first petit point pillow on 32 ct silk gauze. It is a bit wonky from me pulling the stitches too tight so I am going to try your method to get it more square before I finish it into a bolster pillow. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Great video and explanation! Thanks, Frances!
Wonderful video Frances! Very detailed and easy to follow. Thanks.
