ive been curious of these brushes. i want em cause i cant find one as full as his.. sucks the Ross family makes nothing off of the sales of anything BRI, but its the only place to get his brushes, and that magic white stuff.

I have one from the kit made in USA and one that is Weber from Germany. Both seem great. I am concerned with finding brushes to meet my needs that aren't aren't Bob Ross brand now that I learned his partners stole the rights to his name even though he put in his will that his son Steve (a wonderful artist) was to retain his father's legal marketing rights. So disgusted!😡 I am going to see what products Steve Ross endorses!

usa one looks better- looks more chiseled bristles

They all are subtly different I like Alexander and OLD Ross brushes made in USA best. Kevin hill is more feathered and better for spaced out foilage. Old Brandon tHomas 1" brush was shorter and chisled naturally so it was amazing for effects with a chisel shape. New Ross brushes might as well be Lowes brushes. Never cared for Bickford brush though.

I have just bought this brush and on the label it says: "Do not use water or water-based products". What happens if I do? I never realized that Bob Ross painted with oil....

Yes do not use water.. only odorless thinner to clean. i have used that for the last 10 years and i still use original brushes.

ya...Bob RARELY states that he paints with OILS....and he never says what his brushes are MADE OF....hair or what?? ....I have a zillion tubes/bottles of Acrylics....did Bob ever PAINT with Acrylics??

@@juliewilsonriola9471he always says he uses oil paint lol, the whole wet-on-wet technique.. and he says natural bristle hog hair brushes. acrylics dry way too quick to do any layering, like he does.

Nice I've been looking for something like this. I've just started painting and I'm trying to find out what the best brush is for me. I've been using bob ross brushes and I just gotbthe wilson bockford set that I haven't used yet. I'm curious about the Bickford brushes because compared to the bob ross ones the quality by eye doesn't look up to par. Guess I'll see what happens when I try them.

Glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Bob probably used a whole 37ml tube of each color on his TV show! I found that if I start rolling the metal tubes from the end when I open a new tube then it will not crack. They only crack when I just start squeezing the tube randomly.

I have the made in Germany new one that you have. Have been using it for about a year. Works great so far. I have heard the new kits have better quality brushes and paint. I get all my bob ross products from my local art supply and have not had any issues with any of it.

It would be very helpful if you would have started this video with showing all of the prep steps - painting the moon and Santa's sleigh with reindeer. Can you post a video that demonstrates the first steps in the process? Also, why does the audio make you sound like a Munchkin' from the Wizard of Oz? That makes this video very difficult to listen to and watch.

i put the circle on a white canvas, paint it all with black gesso. pull of the circle, then you can use a brush but i just use a wadded up paper towel, dip it in black and grey gesso to dob on.. then let dry.. then, normally, i put the same circle back over the moon (if it will stick) (cover with linseed oil or liquid clear) and start with pthalo blue over the whole paitnting, then pull off the circle and just used blue and linseed oil to color the moon.. used white around the moon for haze etc..
