To reveal the voices and mystery of Ossabaw Island. At approximately 26,000 acres, Ossabaw Island is Georgia’s third largest barrier island, located 30 minutes south of Savannah on the Atlantic coast. Nearly 9,000 acres are high ground; the remainder are tidal wetlands. The island is roughly ten miles long and 7 miles wide at its widest point. Ossabaw is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east; the Bear River/ Florida Passage of the Intracoastal Waterway to the west; the Ogeechee River/Ossabaw Sound to the north; and, St. Catherine’s Sound to the south.
Ossabaw Island is a Heritage Preserve owned by the State of Georgia. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages the island and the Ossabaw Island Foundation maintains several island buildings and coordinates on-island programming.

After you get the indigo pH to 10 and let the indigo precipitate out......what are the next steps....I cannot find any clear instructions on what to do next...almost everything online just says add indigo powder and a reducing agent....I really appreciate the video it's awesome....I'm in Savannah and grow Ossabaw Indigo...I just don't know what to do after it sits to get it to dye the cloth.
Hope you can attend one of our workshops and walk through the process
Do you have to pay to go to the island ? I want to plan a day trip there .
Here is a link to our trips www.eventbrite.com/cc/ossabaw-trips-through-2024-1239979?utm-campaign=social&utm-content=creatorshare&utm-medium=discovery&utm-term=odclsxcollection&utm-source=cp&aff=escb
Thank you so much for sharing this detailed process of indigo extraction! I just discovered that I have tropical indigo plant growing as a wild plant in my garden and would love to learn more about how to make my own indigo dye for handmade paper and watercolour paint. I love the history details that you shared about the plant in Peru. Is there any resources that you’d advise if I want to learn more please?
Maybe you can attend one of our workshops in September. I also find good resources at maiwa.com/collections/indigo

@104holly2 we had no say in the production of this video. That's why I provide the info about thiox in the comments. Ossabaw foundation produced the video & was on charge of all edits etc. Thanks!
