amazing channel , thanks for everything
Do you have a source for the green glass bowl you displayed your orchids in?
I bought them several years ago at a thrift store.
Thank you! This has been an education. Have enjoyed growing Orchids, especially when received from a friend. Now I have some knowledge to see the actual process of of a bloom! Thank you again. I'm ready to share this information with other Orchid lovers.
Hi Anna, Thank you for doing this video of the amazing varieties of orchids and their different blooming seasons! I have a phalaenopsis or vanda orchids (as they usually bloom all year long and look like both of the pictures shown for both of these varieties) from a grocery store here in Canada. However, 2 of my white varieties have not bloomed for years. Can you do a video on care of these and suggestions on how to get them back into their blooming stages? I have them in a sunny and warm location where the 1 purple and white orchid blooms 2 or more times per year being in that same location, but the other 2 do not! They are in holed orchid pots with bark and get watered once per week, soaked every 3 months! Thank you! 😊 Melissa
I love orchids, I grow them because of the beautiful colors, the long lasting blooms, the varieties of orchids and I love the leaves of all of them! ❤❤😊😊
I'll try this. I have all shade out back so that should work well. Thanks.
You are so knowledgeable. Thank you for sharing with us!
Plus, a flower stalk ALWAYS grows between two leaves 🙂
What if my orchid is turning brown
When it rains the crown would get wet anyway in the wild? Beautiful blooms. I have no shade outside darn.
Thank you so much for your wonderful lessons. Right now I have 21 blooms on my Phalaenopsis. It is beautiful! On another subject, I noticed you seem to have a lump on your neck. You might want to have it checked out by an M.D.
Thank you! 🙏🏼🤗
Hi Anna thank I have several Phalaenopsis and thanks to you I’ve gotten Pretty good with then. My husband Agee weeks ago went to a Orchard show here in Louisiana and picked me up a Vanda Orchard I’ve been sick for a while and I just love this Orchard it has a beautiful bloom . I’ve been caring for it with the information that my husband got from the grower and some information from u- tube I would like some information from you on Vandas I hope I’m spelling it correctly any way if you could send a link I’d love it Thank you Joyce🦋
I'm glad to hear that your Phalaenopsis orchids are doing well! Vanda orchids are stunning and can be a delightful addition to your collection. Caring for Vandas differs from Phalaenopsis, as they often require more light and air movement. I'd recommend checking out the following links: orchidbliss.com/8-tips-for-caring-for-vanda-orchids/ orchidbliss.com/types-of-orchid-plants/vanda-care-card/
I have a new leaf ,one other leaf.,some Ariel roots. The stem & other roots have died. Two other leaves are withering. What can I do
It sounds like your orchid is in a bit of distress. Here are a few steps you can take: Assess the Roots: Check the aerial roots. If they’re healthy, they can help sustain your orchid. Trim any dead or mushy roots. Repotting: Repot your orchid in fresh, well-draining orchid mix to provide better support and nutrients. Watering: Be careful with watering. Make sure you’re not overwatering or letting the roots sit in water. Light and Air: Ensure your orchid gets enough indirect light and good air circulation to prevent further stress and disease.
It is now growing a second leaf. Ithas about 5 airial roots ,nothing off the main stem
You said you got orchid at the store that had little black spots on it, What did you do to clear it up? As I ordered an orchid that had some on it now a lot, I'm new at Orchid. im at 82 trying to get it right.
Thank you for helping me decide what to do about some orchids I have that are just getting more sick. It might be time. 😢
It's a tough call, but sometimes, a fresh start brings new energy and opportunities in our orchid-growing journey.
Thank you for sharing the information and knowledge, greatly appreciated 🌸
Thank you for this information!,
I don't cut mine and they make approx 12 flowers each plant, beautiful and big.
That's fantastic!
Great video.
Thank you 💚💗💚 Anna !

Why do you use sunrise/sunset, which changes daily, instead of a fixed timer of 13-15 hours?
Great question. Orchids respond to seasonal indicators, such as day/night length. If you live in an area, such as Alaska, where the photoperiod is extreme day or night, I wouldn't advise using a sunrise/sunset setting. Another option would be to set your timer to your orchid's native time zone, e.g., Philippians for Phalaenopsis or Brazil for Cattleyas.
@@annaweston9257 Thanks...makes sense. Living in New Orleans I didn't think of Alaska. Right now I have my timer set for about 14 hours a day. I have Phalaenopses and Dendrobia, both native to the Philippines. Length of daylight there is between 12 and 13 hours, so I will cut back my lighting by maybe 90 minutes daily. They get a fair amount of ambient light. Thanks!
Almost any of those bugs would give me the willies. It nice to know that they are good for something!
Very good information. Thanks!
Thanks to your newsletter I became aware of your TH-cam channel, now subscribed!
Another video that boosts my confidence of maintaining the orchids for a beginner. Thanks for sharing.
A very informative video that’s easy to understand. Thanks for sharing! May I also find out how can I maintain the orchids if I’m away for 2 weeks holiday? Is self-watering system a good solution given that no helper to assist?
Oh, she got jokes huh 😂
Lol. This is #GIVING!!! Bravo on your performance. Stellar commitment and delivery!!
Love rhe vids. Would be nice to put correctly spelled names that rhe transcipt mixes up. Thanks
What is the difference between activated fish charcoal and the ground charcoal you are using? Thanks Bob G
Activated fish charcoal is more porous and is more effective for filtration purposes.
Very informative video. I got lots of ideas and am going to buy the book and start making my own mixes.
😊😊
