Audio starts at minute 6:00. Our apologies!
Our apologies for the audio! We left the receiver on battery power rather than a plug and it died. Most of the content can be found in the notes linked above. We will recap and do part 2 this coming Sunday, God willing!
Please Help me I Believe Jesus Is The Son of God and God The Son of The Holy Trinity I Believe Jesus Shed His Blood and Died in my place to Pay for All my Sins He was Buried Then 3 Days Later Jesus Arose From The Dead!!! But I am struggling with some Sins that I honestly don’t know how to quit I hate my Sins But I genuinely don’t know how to stop them Am I still Saved because of my faith in Jesus or am I Not Saved because of my Sins? Thank you for All your Help and Time God Bless you
Hi Monica, thanks for watching and reaching out. The Bible (and experience) shows us that every person, no matter who you are, struggles against sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20 says "Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.” We all fail. Even the Apostle Paul said “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” and calls himself “the chief of sinners.” If it were dependent on ourselves to keep ourselves saved, we certainly fail. Instead, salvation is by the grace of God in spite of our sins. Paul quotes David in Romans saying, “Rom. 4:7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 8 blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.” So, rather than being in despair when we fail, we continue to repent and yield ourselves to God and follow his Word. As Paul says in Romans 6 “Rom. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” And also “22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Don’t be discouraged by sin. Rather, bring your burden to God and then get around other believers who are also fighting against sin and encourage each other in the Lord. If you’re local, be sure to reach out to us on our website and we’d love to be an encouragement to you.
Bummer, no sound on this one.
So important to know what it's all about! This has been an amazing study through Romans, I'm sad to see it end. But also excited for James and Genesis.
Thanks for getting the sound issue solved quickly! We only missed a little bit. 👍🏻
Where does this Pastor normally preach at?
Looks like a possible sound issue today, unless it's just on our end?
Yup! That’s what happened when our guy in charge of sound leaves for the weekend and I’m filling in. 😅
Gospel in, gospel out. If you make the T-shirts, I'll buy one! 👍🏻
Very interesting! Thanks for the reminder to live in grace, when it's been so easy to get sucked into living defensively these last couple years.
Just a correction to 8:25, Mary is in fact mentioned by name in the other three gospels. What I was mistakenly remembering was that you never hear Mary’s personal thoughts about anything outside of Luke’s Gospel. She has two brief sentences in John, but never anything beyond that. That’s what happens when you stray from your notes!
Great challenge.
God can bring life from something dead. Powerful truth. Thanks for another great message. And nice tie! 👍🏻
Repentance and faith
Even the demons believe.
That is true, Bryan! On the one hand, you have people who think that they, by their works, have to earn God's favor. On the other hand, there are people who have no interest in turning from their sins but claim to have faith. Paul in Romans is dealing primarily with the former and is particular concerned with the pride that is accompanies such an idea. The Jewish audience he had to deal with were often cut from the same cloth as he was when he was a proud, unregenerate Pharisee. He is combatting that here. Whereas James (who you quoted), deals with people who claim faith, but have no interest in actually turning from sin to righteousness. Both have not yet come to know God. Both have not truly put faith in God. Both need to repent. Thanks for watching our livestream!
Great message and beautiful song. I once forgot about a pocket knife before going through airport security on Christmas break. 😬 Thankfully was able to get it into a checked bag at the last minute since it was passed down from my grandpa! Also love the internal hardware illustration. We see them all the time on x-rays--show up bright as day! Guess it not only sounds the alarm at the gate, but it's also clearly visible when God looks on our heart. Oh yeah, and the new backdrop is cool. 👍🏻 (Hope it's cool to comment on church videos...)
Reading through Romans 4 last week knowing the message would be from there, I was struck by the thought that the Sunday school song about father Abraham has an element of truth after all! Heard it criticized years ago as only applying to Jews, but not according to this passage. Bring on the arm-swinging and head-bobbing! 👍🏻
