Looks good
You can remove the vacuum hose and use a long ziptie as a dipstick through the vacuum hole to see if it comes out wet
But there is a clutch return spring you can purchase from Amazon too fyi
have a link?
I know what video you talking about lmao cuz I been searching for info on this bracket
I may do this, but seriously, 10 seconds is a bit slow but who cares
That a good quick fix. In the long-term, just buy a new carburetor. They're only about $20. I replaced the carburetor on mine and it runs perfect now. I heard its got something to do with running ethanol treated gasoline. Aka E-10 or E-15. Evidently it's not good for small gasoline engines.
Thank you for the info I'll kind that in mind
Was that middle seat comfortable to sit in? Was it well padded on the bottom part?
Yes it is
@rickysgarage4036 nice. Most people don't have good luck using the middle seat and they end up being hard as a rock. I've been trying to figure out how to make the kne in my dad's truck a bit more squishy so I can bare it for 3 hours. Lol
my 2012 just turned off my stable and traction and put the break light on and this was the issue
Glad it helped!
I use quarter inch aluminum to make plate an never had a problem
Awesome good to know!
My story is one of the head gaskets blew on my '90 K-1500 that the previous owner put a '94 engine in out of a W/T. There was a tick that developed at high RPM before the head gasket went. Ive never done any internal engine stuff and the GMT-400 pages and forums seem to be all about the Vortec swap with a carb for more power. Friends are telling me that carburated would be a step back and kill the reliability. So I figured I would find a way to keep the TBI so that lead me to your video(s). I just purchased a '97 Vortec out of a 4x4 Tahoe, and now im starting to order parts for the full swap, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't just go to carburated since that may just be the way to go after all (or efi 💰). Unsure about what to do distributor wise, too. I get it. We're all out here just trying to make things work. I'm a middle-aged dude who isn't into all the new technology that new vehicles have. I like crank windows and basic functionality. The less shit that can break, the better. It blew my mind when my head gasket went and I couldn't find a shop that would touch it. All of them said they would put a new engine in for around $6k. I figured that I would figure it out myself before I spent that much. Anyway, I thank you for your content. At least I know I should be able to get my truck back on the road and learn a lot along the way.
Thank you for the comment hopefully it helps out!
Horrable misuse of the english langauage...
thats rich coming from someone who cant even type a proper English sentence.. learn to spell 😂
looks like azz my boy just buy a dash cover 40 bucks and glue it on top of that one looks new
That’s was years ago and I put a new one from LMC
does it run strange when breaking? someone told me that the brake booster could leak if ur trying to brake and then the rpm suddenly jumps to 500rpm while doing brake
Hei i did the hei distributor swap and now my truck act like the battery is dead after cranking on it a few times, is there any chance the hei needs more power or maybe i hooked something up wrong i did just like you did as far as hooking it up but im a little confused as to what to do next
Nope!
This is a GREAT video, thank you man!
Glad you liked it!
Im actually getting ready to do the hei distributor conversion because the problem im having with mine is that the ecm will not advance the timing whatsoever both before and after i did my vortec swap and i still have the vortec knock sensor too ive checked for breaks in the wire and everything but it all checked out everything in the truck works and all the sensors are working but when i try to start it, it fires runs for a few seconds and dies and i set the timing to zero with a timing light and ive been scratching my head trying to figure it out for the last year i know the engine is good but the ecm hates me😂
Dawg I got a 1990 lifted suburban that needs a gasket replaced it’s a bitch fr need a step stool to get in that fucker and I’m already 6’3 😭 I’m in for a fun time fr
Where you get that thing that sensor that bolts into the 4l60e
Nice set up 👍.
Nice tool setup for school. Good luck in school. Nice to see a young person wanting to learn a skill.
Yes, thank you
Hope that setup you got there holds up. Looks rather heavy if ya know what I mean. All the best at school.
I hope so too!
Good luck and you have to love being a mechanic to stay with it😮
A sacrifice
how much schooling do have left school and working trying to make a living takes a toll
Nice tour. Great set for young guy. Congratulations
Thank you kindly
Great video thanks 👍
not useful at all show how to remove it
I have a 1989 with a vortec that was swapped and i have a few questions about it if have # could call or anything
IM confused . so the small purple and white wire hook to the bigger white tach wire then to distributor tack????
You will need chromes can get decent for cheap though
I will admit I’ve used good quality chromes for the thinner wall use but it was a rare occasion
Can i just replace the MC gasket?
I would highly recommend an adjustable oil filter wrench that works with any size. It functions like a slip joint pliers, all the other ones are a pain to use. You mentioned the another toolbox with some other stuff, maybe you have that not shown. I would like to see a tour of your other box, nice video, thanks.
Thank You for the feedback! I have another video in the same playlist from years back but might end up making a updated version soon

Great video. In the tech industry we use HF on multimillion dollar equipment. If you're field service and they get lost or stolen it's no big deal. No shame in the HF. It's you not the tool.
That’s what I always tell people, the tool is there to help you just got to know how to use it properly
Does yours have hesitation issues for example- when I step on mine it will sorta bog out or just cut out for 2 second and the get it but very slowly mostly everything is brand new on it to anything helps thank you
Check out my update video over this issue
Wish your video came up first on feed! I’m in the process of doing the same thing the forums and other videos arent as informative and your video really helped me have a good idea of what to do thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
@@rickysgarage4036 I have everything done. Just need the driveshaft now mine was already a manual trans so it doesn’t have the center support. Do you happen to have the measurements? Also is the U joint you used the original or did you get a new one for the nv4500?
Thats my reason for wanting to do the swap on mine, same problems can't figure out. Code 42 43 backfire, hesitation, paid a mechanic $500 couldn't figure it out. Im just trying to make the thing run because I can't afford a new one. So with the tbi/hei its running good?
I've had no problems so far!
Nice 👍 thanks
No problem 👍
You’re my people man, good job.
Why did u buy new head bolts ? Those bolts aren’t stretch bolts and can be reused. That’s the beauty of working on old stuff.
Okay so i wanna do the reverse of this i have buckets im swapping on the 60/40 is it hard?
it would be the same concept just reversed
Thanks for making this video , my truck isn’t throwing a code but I keep losing brake fluid and I can feel the break power dwindling. Sometimes the peddle will sink while I’m at a light.
Glad that it helped for you!
@@rickysgarage4036 did you have to get a brake bleeder tool
My vehicle is GMC Yukon slt 2011. Started facing this problem and I am still stuck with this notification. It started with the brake booster, got it changed but the message came back, then after checking it was found that there is a problem with ABS, got it changed and original ABS program was installed. I had to do a procedure of opening the booster and checking the pressure along with bleeding the brakes but, the message came back. Now what? Ground cable was also cleaned. The message appears after couple minutes of driving.
what are your codes?
@@rickysgarage4036 just keeps showing Service brakes soon and even the comp shows in history service brake soon message. However, previous code was brake booster which I already got replaced. Addition to what I said above, when I drive for more than say 5 mins minimum the message appears and the max it takes for message to come is 20 mins.
@@rickysgarage4036The dealer ran complete scan on my vehicle, no codes were dedicated and brake part was working fine including ABS. They were confused that why the message appears of Service Brakes Soon when there is no codes. They concluded that this message is saved in ECU and will conti ue to appear, the suggested solution was to either change the entire brake system or replace the ECU. I refused and collected my vehicle. Any idea on how I can get rid of the message?
Use the smog pump to pull vacuum on the crank case my friend go NASCAR
I have a 2012 Silverado and couldn’t track down where it was losing brake fluid. Thanks for posting
Hoped for the best!
do you know the thread pitch etc for the washer and nut you put onto the clutch fork. and the name of the retainer clip? id greatly appreciate it
M4 if I remember correctly
thanks
This is exactly what my truck is doing been trying to figure out where the fluid was going
I hope the video helped you!
