Two of the insects seem to be really displeased with Frances for burning the whole kingdom and the king is really disappointed with her as well but she has learned her lesson so the king decides not to punish her.
I remember the short length version of this British safety cartoon. It teaches people especially kids not to play with matches or lighters because the fire is extremely dangerous as we know. I'm glad Frances has already learned her lesson. I am watching it from Ireland 🇮🇪
i remember watching this on beeb 2 every night i was awake through the night all night every night watching all that bbc learning shite that was all i had to watch. i may have gone mad but at least im intelligent ☺ 🖕🏻
I had no idea this had an animated version! I only ever read it in picture story form in a booklet that was given to us in school on fire safety training day
I know Richard Briars, he was the narrator of Rurbarb and Custard and in some Little Red Tractor stories, he was also the audio narrator in Percy the park keeper, in audio stories to be honest and I’d say he had a very good impression
2:52 Am I the only one who thinks that part of the music sounds like when Mario loses a life in Donkey Kong when he gets hit by DK's Barrels? Poor Frances :(
Another later version of Frances the Firefly saw Charlie/Cocky Roach getting smoke alarms (it was the version on Directgov Kids, it didn’t go to print)
I love how grown up Frances was on the inside at the end of the story. Takes a grown firefly to admit her mistakes. I think the searing pain and having her wings burnt from her escapade that night that made her unable to fly again for a while was actually punishment enough.
True, but unlike Norman Price from the CGI seasons of Fireman Sam, where he learns his mistakes but yet forgets about it every now and then, Cocky does get his comeuppance, which is him being sent away from the insect kingdom, and him being forced to live in the litter bins in towns and villages.
I know this is an important public awareness video but I can’t get over the fact the N on the beancan was the wrong way round. That’s what I’m taking from this!
And the voice over for this film is the late Mr. Richard Briars. (The star of TV's "The Good Life" TV series). Yes - it's me, Denise Rayner. I hear you saying "who?". Well, I used to work for the Central Office of Information and promoted all these life-saving films to the TV stations. I also used to work for Thames TV.
Anchorman Charleston : BREAKING NEWS: Our top story tonight, there was a fire had ignited in the Kingdom of Insects. It was from two children; a young firefly named Frances, and a roach named Cocky Roach. We go to Leah Arachnid to tell you this tragic story of how it happened. Leah: Thank you Charlie, it was a massive devastation to the kingdom. Young Frances had a lit up match just so she can be like the other fireflies. It wasn't until she burned her wings and dropped the match close to the kingdom. The fire had spread wider, and everything was completely destroyed: homes, belongings, churches, even their workplaces were burned down to the ground. Sadly, nothing was left. Stoner grasshopper: I was at my friends house, playing FIFA and stuff, and then all of the sudden, WHOOSH, there was a fire outside, and then, KABOOM, I heard an e'splosion. Ah, it was so bad, bruh, my friend and I had to get out of here before we get cooked alive! Civilian ladybug : It was miserable! My kids were sleeping when the fire appeared. My husband had to quickly get our kids out of the kingdom before it gets worse. I'm so glad we were able to make it on time. Leah : Only 50 civilians were killed in the fire, but miraculously, 70 were severely injured. The two children were tried in court, and Frances was set free, but Cocky was sentenced to exile for eternity to the concrete jungle. This is Leah Arachnid from the Kingdom of Insects, CB 4 News. What do you guys think? Too much?
Fire Kills. 🔥☠️😧😨😰😔
There's a similar PIF called Moonlighters which is about aliens on the moon finding a cigarette lighter.
Fire is very dangerous!.
Cockyroach was done dirty
I nearly burnt my house down when I was 5, my mum called the fireplace for help and they came and showed me this on video

Richard Briers is narrating the story.

Anyone else notice that the accompanying book, since 2009, has renamed Cocky Roach into "Charlie the Cockroach"?

I love how the King gently puts his hand on her head. It shows he is both stern (in a good way) and forgiving. 💙 Virginia
Fireman Sam. The Great Fire of Pontypandy.

I have been past Sawbridgeworth Fire Station a lot of times.
Dangerous matches are.
London Pudding Lane Bakery.
And that's why I don't play with Fire 🔥😎🔥
I have a very vivid memory of being read the book in nursery and from then on being terrified of fire. It did what it was supposed to be I guess 😂
Oh same! I was in Year 2 when they gave it to us!
Before there was Norman Price (series 6-12), there was Cocky Roach...

Rather ironic that the cause of his death was attributed to smoking (and of course matches may be used to light tobacco)
CUTE

Pretty fantastic comment well done
I'm pretty sure the Brits play FIFA instead of Madden. But still, very well written.
NIce one there.
I fixed it. I changed the type of game they are playing and corrected one of my spelling. ANYWAY, thank you guys so much for the likes.
