Could have sprayed them bolts with brake cleaner and filled them in with j.b. weld . It would add alot of of strenght and also they are lock tighted. But you did the best job. Nothing wrong with that.
Thanks for the comment. I’ve been out of it for a while. Having issues with my internet and computer. Problems of a TH-cam creator. I don’t have a lot of money. Just trying to share my experiences right or wrong. I hope to get more content out soon. I’ll be busy with work for the next couple of months, but hoping to continue my TH-cam channel soon. I have lots of creative content upcoming.. but thanks again.
can anyone drive there not wanting to get into facility but i want to check out the coastline
The last time I was there the road was open. But it’s been a few years ago.
Thanks for the video. Im just getting into bugs, and im learning as I go. Just subscribed
Thanks for the sub, I’ve been slacking on videos lately. You know real life stuff. But hopefully I can put something out soon. It’s a lot of work doing videos, but I know it helps people. Thanks for the comment.
Hey Larry looks good I'm in the works of building a baja as well and love watching all the videos of VW enthusiasts can't wait for the completed job.
I always keep my hammer and impact tool close by...and have acquired a good collection of bits for it.. many times it has been my savior....sometimes air tools are not appropriate ...
Pack the hole with aluminum foil and weld some nuts on them
I've been having some fun building a 1966 swing axle 1641 rail buggy my wife and stepson and I ❤
1/16" of toe in isn't enough. Try adding another 1/8.
I’ll try this to see if it helps, it drives pretty well right now though. Thanks for the comment.
The caster shims go in the bottom tube to improve high speed driving. I have used two sets on the bottom at one time. Two per side and I could drive it with my palm at 80.
I put them on top due to some bad information I got from some other TH-cam channels. But through trials and tribulations. I figured it out the hard way. Lol. It drives pretty well right now. Thanks for the comment.
Cool, !! Love it. Im building mine back. 68 Baja. Is that A.N.O. cooling tower in the distance? Lol
Yes, yes it is ANO cooling tower. Lol
@@larrymcgarage2152 I thought it was. Lol
Hello lucky, thank you for a great video of spreading the word of safety. I am very happy to say I have had quite a few people tell me they have ordered this helmet. It makes me feel good.We all are complacent at times and think we are invincible. I did learn the hard way that’s not the case. Accidents do happen. My accident opened my eyes and I am soooo grateful a came out of it and 100%. Well thanks again buddy. I’m sure your video will help someone. They truly are a nice hood.
Just seeing if anyone reads the comments. Lol I wouldn’t recommend modifying a tap to work. I later found out that not all ball joints have the same thickness. So I had to buy another tap. As some are thicker than others. Hey while your here leave a comment. Thanks
If i had known this in 1989, i could have saved my bug. I didn't realize the price of a shop press was way less than a qualified mechanic. 😄😄 What great car. The start of it all.
Nice we had a video Baja bug in the snow you could’ve gave us one Baja bug in the mud
How do you keep your carb from freezing up with no heat risers
I don’t. It was running like crap. I plan on doing something for that soon. Although I don’t drive in cold weather that much.
I want a Baja Bug now 👍🏻
Wondering why you didn’t grind the bolts to fit the oil pump after mounting the gear to the cam 🫢🤔
It was a step I overlooked during assembly. That happens when you have long periods of time off between working on something. Sometimes you forget where you left off. The next time I build one, I will keep a journal to help keep track of where I am. Also sorry for the shakiness of the camera. I was just learning the dos and donts of filming.
I'm impressed with your restraint with spinning the tires. They have amazing grip with a little finesse.
I was holding back. She was cold and running a little rough. The carb needs a good cleaning. I’m usually wide open.

It looks like you were having fun I thought I saw the thing body hiding in the snow I’m looking for a few parts to repair my thing Wes if you got a few parts laying around you would want to part with
I kinda got plans for a future build with them, but what are you looking for?
Good luck with your project .can't wait until I see it done. I have a 72 Super Beetle
Great music! Rebellious SOB has his rear view mirror vertical!! 😂. This vid is a hidden gem. If everyone knew how much fun this is it would ruin it for us that do.
Best comment I ever got. Thanks. I rewatch this video often myself. I got to get back out there soon.
I'm itching to do the same kind of project. Nothing more fun than an off-road VW. Looking forward to the process. Thanks man.
Thank you for sharing, question, did that rust develop from the outside in or inside out? You may consider a drain hole at that low spot if inside out, again thank you!
I think it could be from the inside out. I’ve noticed some area around the bulkhead that weren’t welded properly. Possibly water got in from there.
Hi. It looks like you have a really solid chassis there. In my opinion, if you are keeping the videos to this length or shorter music is probably unnecessary although you could add a bit of talk-over the timelapsed areas just to break it up. The other side of the coin would be to include music and let the viewer turn the volume down. You will never be able to please everyone on music choice. Anyway, well done and keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Thanks, I appreciate your input.
WELDER IS 110 OR 220 VOLT MIG ? WHAT SIZE MIG WIRE DID YOU USE. I NEED TO KNOW SO I CAN PATCH MY PICKUP TRUCK. THANKS A BUNCH !
My welder is an Everlast 110 or 220, but I usually run it on 110. I was using .035 wire with the wire feed pretty low and low voltage. I could use .023 if I turn it up a little. I’m no welder. I’m self taught. And definitely still learning. If you need welding tips, I suggest checking out some other channels that prioritize in that field. I hope this was helpful. Thank for the comment ❤️
THANKS FOR THE HELPFUL INFO.@@larrymcgarage2152
Looks like a job , Well Done to Me !! aint no welder either , Looks great & its fixed !! Enjoyed the Vid !!
Thanks for the comment. They are so hard to get. Lol. Hey I do the best that I can. Trying to get better at welding. Maybe I’ll be there someday.
Yw Sir !! Thats about all we can do , is our best!! Like anything else ,the more Ya do , the better Ya get !! Take Care ,Good Luck !!@@larrymcgarage2152

I’ve been watching your buggy build as well. Always great content with lots of good tips. Keep on keeping on my friend.
A really good chassis. No serious corrosion, I'm looking forward to seeing your build.

Fun times! I sported the 4 headlight look like Robby's on one of my earlier bajas. Where was this?
Sorry for such a long delay in answering you. This is in north central Arkansas.
RU kidding? Wtf was the noise?
Ignighter wasn’t kicking off.
Thanks for the upload! The factory issued a technical bulletin in 1975 with instructions for an inspection hole and cover for access to the fuel tank sending unit. Is exactly what I will do on my '77 Westy. The gas fumes smell like I need to remove the tank and replace all the hoses and rubber connectors of the vent lines. I used POR15 to seal the tanks on my other vehicles, so ole Westy will get that treatment after a thorough cleaning. Your video comes in real handy to prepare that work, thanks a lot! I sure hope your bus is up and running in the meantime.
Hey, just watched the video and noticed you have 2 vw thing body shells. By chance are you selling them?
Thanks for the INFO. !
Thanks! Bout to start on my 73. Was a leak on floor so hopefully it is only fuel lines. Engine still in want to try and start it first Bill
I just had the same issue with rain getting into my 1776 engine .I had it parked under the car port and the twin carburetors has k&N air filters and are covered on the top but the some how the rain water found a way to get into one of the barrels. I drained the water and oil out of the case and I’m letting it set with some diesel and transmission fluid mixture in case and cylinder jugs seeing if it will let that one piston loosen up. If that doesn’t work then I’ll be taking my engine apart. The video has good information in it especially the piston size for the 1776 . Thanks
I’m in WV looks like around here
