Excellent video on airbag removal. I was able to get in a few minutes after watching. It doesn't take a lot of force when you get the tool in the right spot. I'm trying to activate heated steering wheel. My F57 was built 5/23. I have LDW but no wheel heat switch. I have read that if you have LDW then the wheel heat wiring is there. I have a wheel heat switch plugged in and Bimmercoded it. I have switch power and dash indication but no heat. So...either its coded wrong or I'm missing some components...I think its the latter. I have pictures with the airbag off and there are no wires running to the bottom of the steering wheel.

Bit late to the party - Its nice to see a low numbered car - It would be tempting to upgrade the injectors and airbox, but personally I'd leave them as the 200 Kit came, they'll probably be more collectible in the future. The CD Changer is probbaly aftermarket, The OEM head unit was made by Alpine, but you could buy a connects2 kit that would allow aftermarket brands to connect to the OEM unit. The Parcel shelf is a standard Cooper S shelf because the battery is in the boot it needs additional venting- They are all the same. There is no Difference between the JCW and R53 Shelves. Does have the optional emergency triangle though which is a cool little oem extra. The offside sideskirt is different to the Nearside - Looks like someone has fitted an R50 one to that side which is a bit unusual.

Is the Carbon dash just a carbon Trim you’ve put on it? Or is it a whole new dash if so where’d you get it from? Thanks

Only issue with the electric version is the pedals are tiny and close together. not a clue why Mini signed off on them when the petrol version are normal size!

Always been told those 4 prong ones are a total gimmick?? Looking at replacing mine, think I have these and they have been totally fine, I guess if it’s not broke don’t fix it. Otherwise quality video! I’ll use this to check mine :)))

Great video. I really want to do this as the leather on my wheel has worn badly. But i am scared with the airbag. And just making a mess in general. Would you say its quite manageable once the airbag is removed? Thanks

Not a lot of damage there, eBay is your friend. But, I have found things to be cheaper from the dealer though. That lower bumper support is about £70 new. Pretty sure there should be intake flaps with a controller over the intercooler. Replace the bolts, fixings and screws with new, pennies from the stealer. Good luck with the repair you two.

One of the best things I did on my 2003 Cooper S was change the 2 spoke to a 3 spoke steering wheel ,straight swap . Makes such a difference

I have a 1992 Mini City E 1000 in white, mine is similar to this one as we both have the Heuer stickers on and both have a pool ball gear stick! mine is an 8 ball :) I use mine as a daily driver.

My 2003 R53 MINI Cooper S has a vent hose that must be connected on the right hand side of the battery. There is no mention of this in the video. The hose vents potentially explosive gas to prevent it building up inside the car, as the battery is located in the boot rather than the engine bay (where natural airflow does the job of venting).

Nice one Molly, i am another man child R53 owner that's throwing $ and many hours into my 2005 hyper blue Mini and can barely wait to complete the project and just enjoy it but like most plans they just get bigger 😂. Love your set up too looks great.

Can I use Volkswagen ID on a used vehicle that I bought from an owner who has already registered his profile? That is, is the volkswagen ID used exclusively on new vehicles or can it be registered on a used vehicle as well? I created my ID via pc, and I would like to become the primary user. I was not allowed to take any steps because when I want to delete the profile of the previous user, I get a message that the keys will be deleted and that the user will be notified via email that his profile has been deleted.

Just about to pick one up on an 03 plate it’s immaculate all original and has only done 24k miles electric blue….. I can’t wait I’ve never driven one and it will be hard to resist modding it 😅 my weekend car is a Lotus Elise. Got an email back from vaddesign saying they are about 3 months out on flares for R53 ! They will announce it when in production after finished testing fit. cant wait!
